Story
Oh! My! Well, hi there! I am so, so, so, so, so happy you came to visit me! Aren't I gorgeous?!? I have quite the story to share, so here it goes! Please be sure to read my whole bio as a potential adopter needs to understand who I am. My name is Bailey! I am a 9-year old, female, Bichon/Poodle (best guess) mix that found myself in a very scary situation three+ years ago. My owner died in March 2020 and I was so sad when I did not have a family member to go to. Off to the shelter I went. But the super kind people at NBS said the shelter was no place for me and brought me to my foster Mom's house about a week later. Then in April 2020, I was adopted by the most amazing human Mom ever! Sadly, my Mom found out that she is in heart failure recently and she does not want me to find myself in that same scary situation from my first owner. My Mom promised me that she would find me a great new Mom, so she called NBS and asked for their help to find me a new furever home. So here we are....let me tell you about me. I am about 14 pounds and healthy. I really love my Mom. But I am very shy and can be a nipper of heels with men. So a single woman is my ideal home. I do have anxiety though my current Mom did nit find that medication helped much. I can be a fear-biter, so people just need to go slow with me. I did not have many new visitors in my home but I do need to be given some time and space with new people....I am really protective of my Mom. So kids are great but not the best long-term situation for me because constantly new people might make me a bit too nervous. I do prefer a more laid-back, less on-the-go lifestyle. I can be a bit shy upon meeting people at first. I barked and barked at my foster family at first...and I was unsure of my new Mom at first too! Once they started talking nicely to me, letting me come into their laps and sleeping in their bed, I realized there was nothing to be scared of! I am actually a pretty quiet girl overall but I do like to wake up in the morning and bark all the way to the back door to go outside potty! Speaking of pottying. I am fully potty trained! Woooooh hooooo for me and you! I am kinda funny cause I don't like to go outside without my humans. If my humans come out, then I go right out and do my business and then go right back to the door. I do need a fenced in backyard because I do not walk nicely on a leash and love to bark and chase things which makes walks with me not so fun! I like to play with stuffies, oh boy, they are my favorite!!! I like to chew them, carry them, throw them in the air, play fetch with them. Definitely my favorite toy! And I hope you don't mind me taking a little spot in your bed at night. Don't worry, I curl up into a pretty small ball but I do prefer sleeping with my humans. I did live with two other dogs at my foster home a few years ago but my current Mom has no other dogs. I managed having canine siblings just OK but did not prefer it. I should be the only dog in my furever home. I tend to be bossy and charged the other dogs. I didn't bite them and the minute they turned to me I would run away. But I have made it pretty clear that I am a human dog...not a dog-dog. I don't live with a cat or any other animals to tell you how I would do with those. These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home! - Family who is gone no longer than 8-hour periods - Only dog in the home - Single owner who will work with or has experience with dogs with anxiety that don't appreciate or operate well in a high-energy lifestyle - Fenced yard If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps: 1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to…. 2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history. 3.) Call your reference too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference. My adoption fee is $150.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter! Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years. While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please understand that we get many applications for our available dogs. We review each application and do our absolute best in choosing a home that best suits each dog and his/her needs and personality. This is Iris, she is special needs as she has lung disease. Iris is currently on an inhaler twice a day. Iris was born in a breeding facility with poor ventilation, the fumes she breathed in damaged her lungs. Iris is 5 years old, potty pad trained, up to date on vaccines and spayed. She likes attention, she is a toy HORDER and LOVES to sleep with your dirty sock or slipper. She wants your smell close to her. Iris is learning how to be a dog, how to trust people and what the good life is.
