Story
My name is Baxter. I am a retired breeding dog. I have number 61 tattooed in my ear. That's what I was known by. I was a puppy mill dog for 6 years. I lived in a kennel and didn't have much contact with people. He is 11 lbs. I prefer not living with men or kids. I am looking for a nice quiet home with one owner who is home a lot and will not kennel me. I attach very quickly to my owner and will bark at others in the house. No apartments. I need a lot of patience please. I am still learning to trust people. I am social in public places and walk well on a leash. My other Foster Mommy worked really hard at getting me to let her pet me. Now you are able to pick me up easily and I love to cuddle. I like to tease. I will be behind your heals and lay down and wait for her to pick me up. I don't like to be picked up from behind. I sleep in my bed with my blankets or in bed with mom. I'm afraid of stairs. I currently won't go up or down them. You have to carry me. I don't like the kennel. I prefer to be out and about. I get along with great with other dogs! I don't have any food aggression. Little children scare me, and I bark and chase them. I would be better with older children. I have not been around cats but would probably be fine. Potty training is still a work in progress. Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org Adoption fee is $300 plus tax I am having a dental on Dec. 4.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Update 12/4/23:  Update on 12/02/2023 - I'm coming around! It's been hard for me to learn to trust people, but I know my foster mom is a good human so I give her lots of kisses and even have started to wag my tail for special occasions like when the alarm goes off in the mornings. I get real excited for breakfast, and when she picks me up to go hang out in the living room she can feel my tail hitting her side. When it's just her and I, I like to get some zoomies out for a little bit then I jump up on the couch and go in for some more of my famous kisses. Since I only trust my foster mom, I've found my voice and have started to growl at her roommate and strangers in the last few weeks but I do like treats so I seem to adjust to them being around after they fork some of those tasty morsels over. If I'm caught off guard I will bark and growl - all of this is just so new to me, and I get scared easily, so this will get better with time. I use the potty pads when in the bathroom pretty much every time, but if they are wet I'll poop on the floor right next to it... I'm a little bit of a prissy paws kinda gal I suppose. When my foster mom put a potty pad in her room for me I went on the floor instead so I'll need some work on this. I've been outside a few times since getting here and I'm very scared of all the noises so it's not something we do often. Adding me to your family will be awesome but extra patience will be needed. I've only been with my foster mom for a month and I'm opening up a little but it will take me awhile to fully trust that those bad humans aren't in my life anymore. Rosie is my name and sweetness is my game! I even smell like roses thanks to some doggy perfume. My foster mom says I was stinky after my spa day last week which I didn't even get to enjoy because I somehow fell into a very very deep sleep right after getting there and didn't wake up until it was time to leave… So weird! They did have to shave off my luscious fur before my foster mom picked me up as I had a lot of mats. I still have some scabs that are healing because of it. I am a Bichon (born 1/9/22) which means I will be super pretty once it grows back! I am the perfect size for cuddling at 14 pounds. I am a super sweet girl who will attach myself to you and never let go - like seriously, do not put me down like ever please and thank you! I'm still really nervous since all I've known in my short life has been a cage and raising precious floofer nuggets for profits. I shake any time there's sudden movements, loud noises or I am picked up and brought to a new place – even if I've been to that spot before I still shake for about 5 minutes before I'm able to settle down, sometimes only a couple minutes in other places I've been in more often.  You can tell I've raised a lot of babies because I groom every animal and human I come into contact with. It takes me a day or so to get used to you first. I don't know how to be a dog. My foster mom has barely even seen me walk because I am so scared, so my new family is going to need to have a lot of patience and understanding as this journey to freedom is going to be a long one. I don't have a mean bone in my body. I've been nothing but gentle and low key since starting this new life. I don't mind dogs of all sizes but I really like kitties because they cuddle me and make me feel safe quicker. Having a companion animal in my new home that can show me the way would be really awesome! Last night I even had a cat sleeping in what my foster mom calls the cone of death - he was snuggled right up against my face and it was really nice. The other kitty was keeping my butt nice and warm for me too. I really like her, she's the smallest of the kitties so I treat her like my own baby. I've been outside a couple times since getting here and I did not like it so my foster mom has the bathroom set up for me with potty pads and nice soft blankets to sleep on. Most of the time I do my business on the pad like a good little girl. I'm mostly quiet in the bathroom. Sometimes I whine and bark and paw at the door when I'm missing my foster mom but it doesn't last long at all. I did start off in a wire crate when I first got here but I am a Houdini of sorts and managed to escape multiple times. I will never tell my foster mom how I did it either, no good magician shares their secrets! I haven't figured out how to get out of a plastic crate just yet though, but my foster mom doesn't like scaring me half to death when it's time to come out of it so the bathroom is easier right now while I'm still adjusting.  I'm overall a really quiet girl that just wants to cuddle up and get pets, and I'd really like to meet you! I can show you how rewarding it can be, to love a dog like me, one who needs some extra TLC, before I'll show you the real Rosie - apparently I'm a poet as well! Come on by and give me a chance to melt that heart of yours! P.S. I'm nothing like the Rosie who hogged the entire door that one frigid night in 1912! I would totally share not only a door but a bed, and a pillow, and a blanket, and a couch, and a chair, and a reclining chair, and even my food – I am like the best Rosie there ever was! Remember how I said I will attach to you and never let go? Yeah… I meant that. Good with dogs,
Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Keep checking back for upcoming events I will be attending!       DOB: 12/07/2022 Requires another dog in home: Yes, another well-balanced dog is required Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown, likely afraid of kids Weight: 8 pounds and growing Food Fed: Solid Gold Requires a fenced yard:  Yes, required Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hi, my name is Corbin and I am a very shy and timid puppy that is ready to find my forever people with patience, toys and lots of love to help me be the best I can be! I’m very afraid of being touched by humans but I do love them.  I’ve been brave enough to lick my foster mom’s hand but I’ll run away if you try to hold me or pick me up.  With time, lots of patience and love, I’ll get there.  I’m getting a little better every day but when things are scary, they’re really scary! You have to understand that I likely have never been in a loving home so sounds like the TV, clanking dishes, the horrible vacuum and lots of commotion might make me a little worried. I have shown foster mom that I do have some puppy antics in me, hee hee! I like to play with soft toys, run around the yard and wrestle with the other dogs in my foster home. So, it’ll be important that I have a good doggy role model in my forever home to help me learn that touch isn’t scary and keep learning. A social, well-balanced and confident dog is required. This means that my buddy will need to show me humans are safe, how to get on a potty routine and teach me which toys are the best! My fur-brother and the other dogs in my foster home have been amazing teachers! I am still working on my dog skills like potty training. We go outside on a routine, but I will still need of practice in my forever home. Foster mom wants to let you know that I am smart – I already know what “go potty” means! We tried kennel training, and oh boy, I will tell you how much I don’t like it! Bark bark! Foster mom uses gates for the dogs when she isn’t home. I also bark at her when she comes home – maybe I’m telling you I’m glad you’re home, or maybe I’m filling you in on what happened when you were away!  Also, a fenced yard is required as I don’t have a leash or tie-out experience. This is very important for potty training too. My foster mom said I’m fun, adorable, learns quickly and likes to play with other dogs and that I play hard!  Oh and that I have a wonderful appetite! I will let you know with a bark bark that I am excited for dinner! I’m just an overall, very happy dog who loves the feel of the sun on my face when I’m sitting outside, other dogs and treats.  All I need now is a forever home with lots of patience, unconditional love and a family that will help me be the best I can be! Foster mom says that with time I will learn to trust – we are taking baby steps. Will you take those baby steps with me? Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
