Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Meet sweet Lilah! This lovable girl came into foster care after her family had to surrender her when they moved somewhere they could no longer have dogs. We’re so thankful to be getting to know this wonderful girl and helping her find the forever family she deserves. Lilah is a sweet, low-key girl who simply wants to be wherever her people are. She loves lounging on soft rugs, couches, and cozy dog beds, and she’s perfectly content sleeping right beside you. At night, she sleeps at the end of our daughter’s bed—or curled up right beside it. She enjoys kids, other dogs, chew toys, and, most of all, being part of the family. She is potty trained, knows to go potty outside, walks nicely on a leash, and loves getting outside. When she runs, she does the most adorable little bunny hop! Lilah knows some commands in both English and Spanish, has done well in her crate when we leave, and was wonderful at the vet. She is healthy and ready for her next adventure. Lilah can be a little shy when she first meets someone, but give her a little time, patience, and attention, and she’ll quickly become your best friend. Once she feels comfortable, her sweet personality truly shines. And when she gets excited, you’ll get to see her cutest little happy dance! Her previous family wasn’t able to take her on many walks, so Lilah is carrying a little extra weight. We’re helping her work toward a healthier weight with more walks, activity, and outdoor time. She’s doing great and enjoying the extra adventures! Lilah is such a gentle, loving companion who would love nothing more than a family to call her own. If you’re looking for a sweet, easygoing dog who just wants to be by your side, Lilah may be the perfect match. She’s ready to find her people. Could they be you? ❤️ Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. In addition to the following profile for this dog, please first read the Adoption Information at http://www.shihtzurescuemn.org/adopt.html to understand the process, requirements and timeline for adoption. An adoption application can also be found in the Adoption Info section. If, after reading that information, you have any questions, please submit your question via e-mail and it will be answered. Please do not request a phone call. A personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you! Meet Mack, a sweet and loving boy! Mack is eight years old and has beautiful, soft, silver, white and tan fur. Even though Mack has only been in his foster home since July 25th, he loves to show his foster parents the things he enjoys most in life. Mack is most happy when you are home with him and he loves to always be near you. Mack has a very sweet, playful personality. He will bond quickly with his new family, so it won’t take long for him to love you! Mack is good with older children and other dogs. He loves his squeaky balls and playing fetch with them. He will spend quite a bit of time both playing fetch with people or, quite adorably, throwing the ball to himself and continuing to play with it on his own. Mack enjoys short walks with his foster parents and Shih Tzu foster brother. Mack loves everyone he meets and is confident in greeting people by running up to them for a pet. Mack loves to please and is a smart pup who can learn quickly! He knows the commands for sit and speak. He would be happy in a home with or without another small, calm and confident dog. Mack is working on potty training and will need to continue to work on the potty training with his adopters taking him outside often and consistently to relieve himself. His foster parents take him out every few hours, and he is starting to understand "go potty”, especially when it is accompanied by a little treat! Mack is a very sweet boy who wants the perfect home and family. To ensure that, here are the requirements that his foster parents are looking for in his new family. · Mack would like a family that is experienced with dogs and will continue to help him with training and socialization. This means time devoted to his training and learning other important doggy behaviors, such as basic commands, leash walks outside, exposure to new, safe experiences, and lots of ear scratching and belly rubs. · Mack is developing cataracts and requires daily drops twice a day for the rest of his life. His adopters must be able and committed to administering the drops forever. · Mack can be in a home with another confident, small dog who will help him learn by being a role model and friend. Also, he would do well with a family with respectful children of school age. He would also do well as an only dog if he has opportunities to learn to socialize with other dogs on walks or other family activities. · Mack is not yet fully house trained. His new family needs to understand this and must take him out every couple of hours during the day. Mack does sleep all night though, without the need to go potty outside. · Mack’s new family should live within 30 miles of the south metro area. · Commit to attending the Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each year in September. Mack is neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. He is healthy, although requires eye drops twice a day for the rest of his life. . Mack’s adoption fee is $320.00 plus $28.88 in sales tax for a total of $348.88. To meet Mack, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Or you can also see him and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us at the rescue’s Meet and Greet from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon the first Saturday of every month at Chuck & Don’s, 8537 Lyndale Avenue S., in Bloomington, MN.
