Story
Toby is a darling 4-year-old male who came from a puppy mill. If possible, the new family should have experience with puppy mill dogs. Weighing about 18 lbs., he is a cautious little guy. He loves playing outside and hanging out with his foster brothers and sisters. He loves running the yard, chasing squirrels, or running the fence line with the neighbor's dogs. Though he walks quite well on a leash, he may be slow to warm with people. He attaches to other dogs more quickly than to people. He will need a patient home. He is currently living with four other dogs, and he must have another dog in residence. Because he has never been around children with sudden movements and noises, he needs a quiet adult home. Some of his favorite things include chewing on dog bones, sitting on his dog bed monitoring the activity around him and being outside. He has just begun to show interest in toys. He is crate trained and is still working on house training. Toby is very routine oriented and needs adjustment time when a change occurs. Once he warms up, he can be a sweet boy. He must have a securely fenced yard. (When frightened he will run.) His forever home will need to have a small dog already living in the home. The home needs to be a quiet adult home. **There are no exceptions to these things** Toby is located in MI Donations are greatly appreciated for his care. Story
Maisy is approx. 6 years old and a Bichon mix. Because she needed surgery for bladder stones, she was turned in to a shelter to be euthanized. Small Paws Rescue rescued her, and removed multiple bladder stones. She also had several mammary tumors which were removed and sent to pathology. All were benign! She has been given a clean bill of health! She is super sweet and loves to cuddle. Maisy likes to be wherever you are and will follow you from room to room. She gets along with other dogs and she's very friendly. She enjoys chasing and playing with her foster brother. She loves to play with toys, is good on a leash and in the car. Maisy is housetrained, here in her foster home.. She sleeps with her foster family at night but has a little dog bed in the bedroom. Maisy deserves a sweet and loving family. She will be a great companion for the right adopter. She will need another dog in the home or someone that is home most of the time. Children in the home need to be at least 10 years old. She is located in IN Donations are greatly appreciated for her care. Story
Teddy is a bundle of love. He hasn’t met a person he doesn’t want to pet him or give kisses! He is a 1 1/2 year old Bichon-Shitzu mix. He weighs about 20 lbs. He is house broken, here at his foster home. He gets along with dogs, big and little kids. He just wants to play! He is very good at fetching balls and toys.....however after about 5-10 tries he is distracted and moves onto something else. He ignores the 2 cats I have, he is not the slightest interested in them! He is a very good eater and pretty good on a leash too. He loves being outside in the backyard and going to the dog park. He makes friends with the other dogs easily. He loves for them to chase him. He sleeps on the rug next to my bed, but not on my bed. In the morning he lets a bark out to tell me it’s time to get up. He would be great for a family that has loads of energy. A fenced backyard would be great for him. (Sometimes he doesn’t want to come in he is having so much fun!) He will need a young dog in the home chosen for him or someone that is home most of the time. He needs a fenced yard. Children in the home need to be at least 8 years old. He is located in OH Donations are greatly appreciated for his care. Story
Oliver and Clarabeth are a double bundle of love and energy. They are devoted to each other and almost inseparable. They are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. At about 2 years old they are on the go almost nonstop. They are very much in your lap and in your face. Oliver is a bit more outgoing than Clarabeth. As soon as I sit, he comes soaring in from somewhere to land on me. Clarabeth is a little more subtle about getting in my lap. They both sleep on me or next to me. They are both very eager eaters. Out of the current 7 at home I give them their food last, and they still finish first. They are very good about not going for others’ food unless it has been abandoned. Anything that hits the floor is fair game. They aren’t particularly fond of grooming, but I think they had not been groomed enough for them to get used to it. With a little patience grooming wasn’t too bad. House training is a work in progress, but they are usually pretty good using puppy pads. These are two wonderful little souls and will be a great blessing to the right family. Children in the home need to be at least 10 years old. Oliver and Clarabeth are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. They also need a fenced yard to play in **There are no exceptions to this** They are located in IL If you’d like to donate to the care of Small Paws Rescue dogs, please copy and paste this link into your browser: https://donate.smallpawsrescue.org/ Donations are greatly appreciated for their care. Story
Meet Bumper. He is estimated to be about 4 years old and weighs about 10 pounds. Bumper is a super sweet dog with a medium to high energy level. He loves to play and chase after his stuffed toys and has managed to shred a couple of them. He's great around people, children, and other dogs. He really perks up when he gets to say hi to children and other dogs. Bumper loves walking on a leash and loves to go outside. He stops to sniff and leave his mark for others to know that he was there. A yard for him to romp around in and explore would be great. He is curious, but doesn't seem too interested in chasing after squirrels or rabbits. Bumper is almost fully house-trained, but he does have the occasional accident. I usually walk him about every 2-4 hours to help prevent accidents. He can sleep through the night accident free. Bumper is not a constant barker, but he will bark when he hears noises outside the door and sometimes at strangers. Once he knows the stranger is okay, the barking stops. Bumper is a bit of a “velcro” dog and prefers to spend his time in the same room or on the same chair with me. At first he did bark a little when left at home, but he has become more comfortable with absences of up to 4 hours. At night, he shares the bed with me and his foster brother. Bumper is a loving boy who is happy to be in the same room with you or snuggle with you on a chair. He hopes to find a forever home that would shower him with the love he deserves! Children in the home need to be at least 10 years old. Bumper will need another dog in the home that is chosen for him. **There are no exceptions to this**. Bumper is being fostered in IL If you’d like to donate to the care of Small Paws Rescue dogs, please copy and paste this link into your browser: https://donate.smallpawsrescue.org/ Donations are greatly appreciated for their care.
