He’s strong-willed, vision-impaired, and not afraid to let you know when life isn’t quite to his liking. Sudden moves? Unfamiliar handling? He might give you a side-eye that could melt steel. 😏 A few things to know if you think you can handle him: • Aloof and spicy—he’s got personality for days, especially when unsure 🕶️ • Adult-only home required—he likes calm, patient humans who respect his boundaries 🏡 • Trust comes slowly—multiple visits are a must, but once earned, he’ll let you in (on his terms) 🤝 • Not a cuddler, not a social butterfly—he prefers coexisting peacefully on his own schedule • Low-shedding and will need occasional grooming ✂️ • Training in progress—he’s learning, but only if you let him do it his way 🐾 Motas isn’t for everyone, and that’s perfectly fine. Florence is a sweet 13lb female Bichon who came to us when a breeder decided to stop breeding. She spent much of her early life in a kennel, but since arriving at Camp Papillon she has made wonderful progress and continues to learn what being a loved companion is all about.   Florence now enjoys play yards, spending time with her dog friends, and has learned that humans are kind. She is walking on a leash and is discovering how nice treats, gentle affection, and a routine can be. While she can still be a bit spooked by unfamiliar noises, she gains confidence each day with reassurance and patience.   Florence does well keeping her space clean during the day, but nighttime can still be a challenge. Long evenings at the shelter sometimes lead to messes. With a consistent routine and understanding home, she will continue to improve.   Florence is looking for a calm, patient household that understands she is still learning how to be a house dog.
