Bubbles and her sister and brother, Buttercup and Brodie were surrendered to a kill shelter because their owners just had too many and couldn’t find homes on their own. Their mom is a long-haired Chihuahua and their daddy is a Shih Tzu and they were born on February 2nd this year so they are 8 months old. Bubbles has been spayed, is up-to-date on vaccines and heartworm negative. She’s also microchipped. She weighs just under 9 pounds and is probably full grown now. Bubbles is great at the Vet and The Groomer and loves riding in the car. She needs a little practice on the leash and she’s making great progress on house training. Although and three pups are extremely sweet, Bubbles is a most friendly and a super snuggler! She plays great with her brother and sister and we feel like she would be fine with other dogs after getting to know them. She would do well with older children and we have not had her around cats but we feel like she would be fine with proper introduction. Meet Claudette, who came to us from another local rescue after being brought in from a puppy mill. Claudette is thought to be around 5 or 6 years old and a Shih Tzu mix. She weighs 11 lbs. Claudette is very nervous at the shelter and is still trying to figure out her new situation. The poor thing freezes when you try to touch her. It will take some time for her to warm up in a home, as she has never lived in one and probably has never received love from a human. We think she will eventually blossom into a loving companion. However, because of her nervousness, we think she should be in a home without children under 12. She is also a flight risk initially and will need a secure home (no open doors, fence gates, never left alone outside, etc.). Claudette is good with other dogs and can be tested with cats.
