Story
Name: Cher Age: 5 years Breed: Black Mouth Cur mix Size: 42 lbs Special Needs: Heartworm positive Adoption Application: https://forms.gle/nuKXoMu6gjS5DhFm8 Contact: transport@hssm.org Cher is a 5-year-old Black Mouth Cur mix who carries herself with quiet confidence and a gentle, steady presence. She’s the kind of dog who doesn’t need to be the center of attention to shine — her warmth shows through in soft tail wags, soulful eyes, and her calm devotion to the people she trusts. She enjoys time outdoors, taking in the world at her own pace, and would love a home where she can stretch her legs and then relax beside her favorite humans. Cher’s mature nature makes her a wonderful match for someone looking for a loyal companion without the whirlwind of puppy energy. With her sweet temperament and grounded spirit, Cher is ready to be someone’s constant — a faithful friend who brings comfort, companionship, and just the right touch of adventure to everyday life. Cher is heartworm positive but with the proper treatment she can live out the rest of her life happy and healthy. Cher's $250 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip AND transport fee to a location near you. We currently have transportation to CT, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, GA, and TN. Please email transport@hssm.org for more information on transports! --> If you are interested in adopting Cher please fill out our online application here: (https://forms.gle/nuKXoMu6gjS5DhFm8 - Dog). A staff member will reach out if your application is approved to discuss the adoption process. No fenced in yard required, and YES - we adopt to families with children! Name: Kaylee Ann Age: 3 years Breed: Black Mouth Cur mix Size: 44.3 pounds Special Needs: Heartworm positive Adoption Application: https://forms.gle/nuKXoMu6gjS5DhFm8 Contact: transport@hssm.org Meet Kaylee Ann! The perfect combination of grace, calm, and a heart full of love! Kaylee Ann is a beautiful 3-year-old Black Mouth Cur mix who arrived at HSSM on November 12th, 2025, after being found as a stray in Biloxi by animal control. Since her arrival, she has completely stolen the hearts of staff and volunteers alike with her gentle soul, calm nature, and wonderfully well-rounded manners. Kaylee walks on her leash like an absolute lady—graceful, confident, and just a touch sassy with every step. Her calm, cool demeanor makes her a fantastic family dog, especially for those looking for a companion who brings peace and warmth into the home. She loves spending time in the yard soaking up sunshine and fresh air, and she’s happiest when she’s close to her people. Bonus: her kisses are truly top tier. While Kaylee Ann enjoys companionship, she’s also content entertaining herself when needed, making her a great match for households with busy days but loving evenings. She would thrive in a calmer home where she can relax with her favorite humans, though she’s always up for the occasional new adventure. Kaylee is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and spayed. She has tested positive for heartworms, but with the proper treatment she can live out her life happy and healthy. If you’re searching for a loyal, loving companion with a peaceful presence and a heart of gold, Kaylee Ann may be the one you’ve been waiting for.        adoption donation : $499 weight 50 lbs Age  3 years        Layne is a beautiful 3-year-old, 50 lb golden pup who came to us pretty timid and scared of the world but has since gained a lot of confidence. She wants to be loved and give love in return. Layne lives with other dogs, kids and a baby. She is a sweetheart and a quiet girl—she is the only dog in the house who does not bark at the mailman!    Layne loves to run in the yard and watch the birds fly by so a fenced yard is preferred. She adores loves playing fetch and treat time. She loves romping around the yard with her four-legged foster brothers and would love a canine companion! Layne does well with senior dogs as well.      Layne also has a foster brother, Puddles, who is her very best buddy so if an adopter  was potentially looking for two dogs they would be a perfect pair!       Layne is the quintessential family dog, she is gentle and loving and will make a wonderful member of the family.     For more information on adopting Layne please email   ramellakwolek@gmail.com    June 22, 2025, 7:29 am

Story
adoption donation : $699 weight 40 lbs Age 8 months dob. 1/10/25      Jade is an adorable mixed breed pup who seems to be some kind of black mouth cur mix. . She is a gentle and sweet and loving girl who is just a delight.  Jade and her sisters Josie and Journey  were part of a group of puppies that were sadly being given away for free at a local Walmart in Mississippi. The woman who runs the rescue Wags of Monroe County couldn’t bear to see these puppies going to people with no vetting and so she scooped up the remaining three girls.     Since then, the puppies have thrived, they love to run and play with all the dogs at the rescue and then cuddle up together in a puppy pile to nap. They have all been spayed and have their vaccinations and are all healthy happy girls.    Jaden and her sisters are still in Mississippi, but ready to come up to the northeast in mid October on the transport truck that leaves every Friday from Tupelo. We know these girls will all make wonderful family dogs, but are fine to consider a foster to adopt. Jade is such a gentle, calm girl, we know she will be a loving member of the family.   Adoption fee includes the transport from Mississippi, vaccines, microchip and spay and neuter. Most of our dogs are in Mississippi and come up by Transport, dogs are listed along the Transport route or in an area where we may have volunteers who can help transport the dogs. We do have some of our dogs in foster homes in the northeast, we always need foster homes! For more information on adopting any of our Wags dogs please email mariaeftimiades@yahoo.com      October 13, 2025, 8:23 am

Bonnie recently completed heartworm treatment and did great!  She is now a perfect, healthy, happy girl who is well behaved and looking for a loving family. We believe she will do well in just about any family environment  offering playtime/proper exercise, guidance and, of course, lots of love.  If you're looking to add some unconditional love, joy and companionship to your life, this beautiful girl may just be for you!    As with all new dogs, Bonnie will need time to adjust to her new new family, environment, and any furry siblings she may have.  Bonnie is located in the Northeast and available for meet and greets to approved adopters.   Applications for Bonnie can be submitted through https://lgarinc.org/adoption-application/.  Please note that you must be 25 years of age to adopt, and we reserve the right to refuse adoption to anyone.  All applications are subject to review and approval and a tax-deductible adoption donation is required to be paid prior to adoption day.    Please note that you must be 25 years of age to adopt and we reserve the right to refuse adoption to anyone.  Please be advised that we will not approve adoptions to persons who mislead or fail to provide accurate information on this application.  Incomplete applications will not be processed.
