MEET ROMEO, a handsome, loyal, protective Black Mouth Cur. Romeo is a gorgeous 6-1/2-year-old male, and he weighs about 74 lbs. (His shelter paperwork says shepherd-boxer mix). Romeo loves to walk, hike and be with his person or people. He would be a wonderful companion for someone who loves to hike and go on exciting journeys! Romeo is a great guard dog and can be protective with people he does not know, so would do best in a non-congested area where neighbors aren't a concern or with an experienced adopter. Romeo also has a prey drive, so needs a strong owner. He has done great with other dogs in a home setting. He's incredibly smart, affectionate, and will attach to his person or people. His bond is very strong. He is not a big fan of kids. Romeo is easy to groom, is playful, and loves a good belly rub! He will benefit from exercise, and people who understand his breed. He's currently in California but can be transported to Oregon. Please email for an application.

She's a wonderful medium-sized adult who is ready to find a family that will give her the love, stability, and companionship she deserves. Tina is friendly with other dogs and good with children. Her compatibility with cats is currently unknown. At four years old, Tina is at a great stage of life. She's beyond the demanding puppy months but is still young enough to enjoy plenty of walks, adventures, playtime, and activities with her family. Her Black Mouth Cur and Carolina Dog heritage may give Tina a wonderful combination of intelligence, loyalty, athleticism, and devotion. Black Mouth Curs are often energetic, capable dogs that form close relationships with their people. Carolina Dogs may be intelligent, alert, athletic, and deeply bonded to those they trust. Tina would benefit from a home that provides: Plenty of love and companionship Daily walks and regular exercise Mental stimulation and enrichment Interactive toys and games Positive-reinforcement training Consistent routines and boundaries Continued socialization A secure home and yard, if applicable Regular veterinary care A lifelong commitment Tina should be treated as part of the family and given opportunities to participate in everyday life rather than spending her days isolated outside. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Even adult dogs need time to adjust after adoption. Tina will be entering an unfamiliar environment with new people, smells, sounds, expectations, and routines. Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best, so her adopter should be prepared to continue reinforcing: House training as needed Leash manners Basic commands Recall Household boundaries Calm greetings Appropriate social behavior 3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe 3 Weeks to understand her new household routine 3 Months to fully settle in, build trust, and feel at home Some dogs adjust more quickly and others need additional time. Giving Tina patience, structure, affection, and consistency will help her understand that she's finally home. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Tina is healthy, spayed, and vaccinated, giving her a great foundation for her next chapter. Her future family should continue providing: Routine veterinary wellness examinations Recommended vaccinations and boosters Flea, tick, heartworm, and parasite prevention Routine dental care Quality nutrition Healthy weight management Daily physical exercise Mental stimulation and enrichment Regular grooming and nail care Continued positive-reinforcement training Veterinary treatment whenever illness or injury occurs A safe and comfortable indoor home At four years old, Tina hopefully has many wonderful years ahead of her. Adoption means being prepared to care for her physical, emotional, and medical needs throughout adulthood and eventually into her senior years. Adoption Information If you are interested in adopting Tina, please complete an adoption application at: https://www.ozzieandfriendsrescue.org/adoptions Thank you for considering adoption through Ozzie and Friends Rescue, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to helping deserving dogs find safe, loving, permanent homes. Tina is healthy, dog-friendly, kid-friendly, and at a wonderful age to become someone's loyal companion. She isn't asking for anything complicated—just a family who will include her, care for her, and choose her for the rest of her life. In return, Tina is ready to give them all the love and loyalty she has. ❤️ Intelligent, active dogs benefit greatly from positive-reinforcement training. Training doesn't just teach manners—it provides mental stimulation and helps create communication and trust between Tina and her new family. Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: October 16, 2026, 9:57 am
