Story
Raj, formerly known as Rags, come to us from a local shelter on his day of euthanasia. He was helped by a team of volunteer to be saved. He is about 10 years old, 95 lbs hound mix. He is sweet and gentle and thankful for a soft place to land with his foster. Raj is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and HW-. He gets along well with dogs but should be fed separately to avoid any resource guarding. Raj sleeps well in his crate on his comfy bed and is just a generally laid back sweet ole guy. He also rides really well in cars and enjoys looking out at the scenery. His adoption donation is $200 and you can apply for him at apply.neshamarescue.org

Story
Hi, my name is Colman and I am a 8 1/2 year old hound mix who’s ready to find a place to call home. My favorite things in the world are tennis balls. I try to have one with me at all times, either in my mouth to chew on or one close by in case I want to play. I love to play fetch, especially in a big fenced-in yard where I can show off how fast I am. I love to go for walks or runs on leash as well, but benefit from a harness that discourages me from pulling. I am currently working on learning how to heel because sometimes I get so excited about getting back home to my ball I will pull to get us there faster. In between games of fetch, you can find me lounging on the softest bed I can find. Once I find a comfy spot at home, I will nap all day. I have enough manners to not jump up on a human bed if I’m not allowed, but would gladly join you if invited. I can be known to be a cuddle-bug and love lazy days around the house. Something I am working on is my socialization. I can be very nervous around strangers and don’t want to be petted immediately. I approach most people with my tail tucked, in a defensive position, but can warm up in a few minutes with the right mix of treats and fetch. I am never aggressive or hurtful, just take a bit to warm up. Once I know you are part of my family I will bond with you and become your best friend. I am very protective of my home and family and bark when strangers come near or in the house, but in my defense, I’m a very vigilant watchdog! Because of this, I’d be happiest in a home that doesn’t have guests everyday or wants to throw parties with lots of people. I’m working on my fear of guests with a few friends that come visit me and give me the space to patiently warm up to them. I am very smart and well trained and know many tricks, including sit, shake, down, roll over, come here, and place. I have also learned how to balance treats and tennis balls on my nose and await a release command to catch them. I am well house trained and will let you know when I need to go outside. I sleep tight everynight in my kennel and am happy to go inside if my family will be gone for several hours. I hope to find my forever family and home soon. Ideally I would be an only dog and would not live with any cats or with a young child that might not respect my boundaries. I would love a home with a fenced-in yard where I can run around but may do well in other types of homes as long as I get plenty of exercise and can go somewhere fenced in to play fetch. My ideal family is patient and can help guide me through anxious situations, training, as well as to help build my confidence. Most importantly, they will show me lots of love and keep lots of tennis balls around!I am neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and taking my monthly heartworm preventatives. My adoption fee is $325. If you think we would make a great match, I would love to meet you. ***Please Note: All the available dogs listed on our website are getting spoiled in private foster homes. If someone has caught your eye and you wish to arrange a meet and greet, we do need you to fill out the adoption application. When your adoption application is received our screening team will verify the information given. Merry is as her name suggests: bright, and cheerful! She has the SWEETEST disposition. She loves belly rubs and being scratched under the chin. Merry is incredibly well-mannered. She doesn't snore, jump, or counter-surf. Like all good girls, Merry loves being brushed. She's house-trained and will whine a little to let you know that she needs to go out to do her business. Merry even stays in her bed all night. Merry LOVES hanging out with other dogs and people. As they say, the more the merrier! Her favorite place to hang out in her bed
