Story
Hey there! I’m Colman – your future best friend, tennis ball enthusiast, and all-around good boy.I’m a 10 year old hound mix with a heart full of love and a mouth full of tennis balls (seriously—I like to keep one on standby at all times). My happy place? A big fenced yard where I can zoom around playing fetch and show off my speed. I also enjoy walks and jogs on-leash, especially with a harness that helps me remember not to pull—though I’ll admit, I sometimes get a little too excited to get back home… to my ball. When I’m not channeling my inner athlete, I’m a pro napper. Find me the fluffiest bed in the house and I’ll snooze the day away like a champ. I’m respectful of your space (no bed-hopping unless invited!), but if you’re up for cuddles, I’m all in. Lazy days are totally my vibe. Now, I’ll be honest—I’m still working on my confidence. New people can make me nervous, and I need a little time and space to warm up. I might approach cautiously at first, but with some tasty treats and a quick game of fetch, I’ll soon be wagging and ready to be your loyal shadow. I’m a devoted watchdog too—I take my job seriously and will let you know if anyone’s at the door. Because of this, I’d do best in a calmer home without frequent visitors or loud gatherings.Smart? You bet. I know tons of tricks—sit, shake, down, roll over, place, and more. I can even balance treats or a tennis ball on my nose and wait for the release command. House-trained? Absolutely. I’ll always let you know when I need to go out, and I’m kennel-trained too, sleeping peacefully through the night or resting while you’re away.My dream home? One without other pets or small kids, a yard to call my own (though I’m flexible if I get my exercise), and most of all—a patient, loving family who’ll help me build confidence and never run out of tennis balls.Think we’re a match? I’ll be here, waiting—with a ball in my mouth and love in my heart. ***Please Note: All the available dogs listed on our website are getting spoiled in private foster homes. If someone has caught your eye and you wish to arrange a meet and greet, we do need you to fill out the adoption application. When your adoption application is received our screening team will verify the information given. Once your application has been confirmed and approved, we will be send it over to the foster parent for review to determine if your home is a good match for the dog. ** I cannot be the only dog in the home! **Hello, I’m Eddie!! I’m a playful, goofy, clumsy, happy, and lovable guy looking for my forever family. I’m a big guy whom would do best with older kids (Teens) or an adult only home. I would love a home with an active family, a fence in yard to explore and play. I will need to have a doggy playmate who can romp around the yard with me, too! We can work together to get our zoomies out. I like to keep entertained and I loooooove playing with other dogs. I have a lot of puppy energy so I do tend to tire out older dogs but I respond very well to corrections when they tell me to leave them alone. I’m a pretty savvy guy! I love to bounce around; I’m 80 pounds but I’m a tall guy and a bit inquisitive; I’m working very hard on my manners training so that I can be on my best behavior around those tempting counter tops! Speaking of my training, I have already come a long way! I’m house-trained, crate trained, have good manners and I’m doing very well on leash. When I get excited I can pull a bit but we are working on this impulse control as well. I am definitely looking for a family that’s just as excited about continuing my training as I am about learning. If you’re looking for a fun loving, adorable, goofy, playful and sweet pup, I might be your guy! Fill out an application so we can meet! I am neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, have been dewormed, and am current on my monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. My adoption fee is $325. If you think I could be the one for you, please fill out an adoption application on our website: www.secondchancenc.org. Thank you! ***Please Note: All the available dogs listed on our website are getting spoiled in private foster homes. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Starburst has the biggest personality of the seven candy puppies born in their foster home on February 16th. She wants to be with humans any time she can, and gets very excited to see you. She'll sit down wagging her tail until you pet her, then she will follow you around wagging her cute little black tail, as she runs right next to you, "smiling". You can tell when she's happy :) She has no fear and goes right up to her 5-year-old foster brother, trying to get him to play. She was one of the first to try to go up the stairs and out the back door to explore. She loves playing with her brothers and sisters, and is always the last one to fall asleep. She has the cutest attitude and enjoys giving puppy breath kisses as soon as you pick her up or come close to her. She has extremely soft, black and brown brindle fur with white markings, just like her plott hound mama. She would do great in a household with other dogs and children.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 8, 2025, 4:15 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application ›   Oh, hey there! I’m Walton—certified good boy, professional toy enthusiast, and a true comeback kid. I was this close to taking the Big Sleep at the shelter, but some amazing humans gave me a second chance. And let me tell you—I’m making the most of it! First things first: I am house trained, handsome, and hilarious. I LOVE toys—squeaky, bouncy, chewy, you name it. If there’s a game of fetch or a good ol’ tug-of-war, I’m all in! Humans are my favorite—I just want to be around my people and soak up all the love they’ve got to give. I can get along with other dogs, but honestly? I’d rather be the king of my castle. And when it comes to food, I prefer to keep my dinner mine, thank you very much. My dream home? A quiet place with some awesome humans who want a loyal, loving, and slightly goofy sidekick. No tiny humans running around, please—I prefer a more relaxed vibe. If you’ve got a couch, some snacks, and space for a four-legged shadow, I’m ready to move in. Let’s do this!     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 10, 2025, 1:30 pm

Story
(DOB 08/12/2024) Lexi - The Energetic, Playful Pup Ready to Join Your Family! Lexi is a fun-loving ball of energy who thrives on playtime! She’s a fetch enthusiast, a tug-of-war champion, and loves running around with other dogs. Whether it’s chasing toys, playing with her favorite canine pals at doggie daycare, or zooming through a fenced-in yard, Lexi’s idea of a perfect day is one filled with action and fun. Being house-trained and crate-trained, she’s already settled into good habits at home. However, she’s happiest when she’s outside getting her energy out, so a home with a big, securely fenced yard would be ideal for her to run, play, and burn off her puppy energy. An active family with time to play, and a doggie sibling around her size (or a bit bigger), would be a great fit. Lexi would do best if there is someone home a good chunk of the time. She’s great with people and loves everyone she meets; however, Lexi's energy level is best suited for a bit older kids (she may accidently knock over young ones) and she'd probably "bother" older/laid-back dogs. She’s especially great with older kids or teens who can match her enthusiasm and playfulness without getting knocked over during one of her zoomies! Lexi has not had an opportunity to meet little kitties at this time, so we aren't sure about them. Lexi is a sweet, spirited young pup who’s almost full-grown and will be the perfect mid-sized companion, weighing in around 25 to 30 pounds. With her wiggly, tail-wagging excitement, it’s impossible not to smile when she greets you—this girl’s joy is absolutely contagious! Lexi is also happy to "tell you about" how happy and how much fun she is having with her distinctive and unmistakable Beagle-like bay and howl. It is absolutely adorable! If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and fun dog to keep you on your toes and fill your life with love, Lexi might be just the perfect match. She’s ready to grow up with a family that’s ready to give her the attention, fun, and love she deserves. Ready for daily zoomies and endless cuddles? Lexi’s waiting for you! As part of Lexi’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Lexi, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2340213##
