Story
Zion was adopted in June 2024 at 3 months old. He and his litter mates came from Peak Lab Rescue and I have all of his records including info about his mom. She was a hound. Z has been such an amazing boy! I have 2 cats - one he chases but never hurts and one he ignores. He barks at other dogs on walks and hasn’t learned good manners on a leash, but we’re training on that. He is full of energy and needs daily walks or playtime. He has a loud bark, which it’s typical for hounds. The home we moved to doesn’t have a large enough yard for him and we’re away from home a lot. He needs a family that can give him attention and space to be his happy self. He knows how to sit and wait for treats and is house broken. He loves toys and chasing a ball is his favorite activity. He’s truly a good boy and would thrive with an active family.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Lester – A Gentle Soul Looking for His New Home LESTERS STORY: After there was a death in the family who owned Lester, they realized they could no longer care for Lester.  They surrender him to a shelter.  A kind person rescued him from possible euthanasia at a full shelter.  Best Friend Pet Adoption is now helping the rescuer find a permanent home for this sweet boy.    Don’t let the “senior” label fool you—Lester still has plenty of love, curiosity, and companionship to give. This handsome   50–55 lb tricolor hound mix,  is estimated to be around 10-11 years old , and he’s in impressively good shape. In fact, he can still hop right into the back of a car and happily head out for his next adventure. Lester is the definition of a well-mannered gentleman. Since arriving in his foster home, he has been easygoing, adaptable, and incredibly pleasant to have around. He has a calm, “go with the flow” personality that makes him a wonderful companion for a relaxed household. This sweet boy enjoys daily walks to stretch his legs and sniff the world, followed by long, cozy naps. He’s crate trained, housebroken, and great on a leash, which means he will transitions easily into a new routine. Whether you live in a house or an apartment, Lester is perfectly content as long as he gets his walks and time with his people. Lester is friendly with new people and does well with other calm, well-mannered dogs. Because he prefers a peaceful environment, a quieter home would suit him best. He would also be happy as your one and only dog. Cats aren’t really his thing, so a cat-free home   would be ideal. What truly makes Lester special is his gentle, affectionate nature. He’s the kind of dog who simply wants to be near his people, enjoying the comfort and security of a loving home. After sadly losing his family, Lester ended up in a shelter and was at risk of euthanasia. Thankfully, he found a safe foster home—but what he really deserves is a forever family to spend his golden years with. If you’re looking for a loyal companion, a calm walking buddy, and a loving presence in your home, Lester might just be your perfect match. DISCLAIMER: We hope you'll consider adopting Lester. Story
Budreau is a playful, cuddly boy with a joyful spirit and a big heart. He rides beautifully in the car and is always ready for the next adventure — especially if it ends with snuggles. One of his favorite things is gently waking you up in the morning for hugs before starting his day. He loves to run and play with his dog friends, chew on his favorite toys, and engage in a good game of tug-of-war. Budreau would thrive in a home with a fenced yard or regular access to a safe play area, and he would do best with another playful dog to help burn off his happy energy. While he rarely barks and enjoys meeting new people, he can be a little cautious at first. Give him a moment, though, and his goofy, affectionate personality quickly shines through. Budreau is housetrained and does very well on a consistent routine. He wakes up ready to play, enjoys activity throughout the day, and is equally happy settling in for cozy naps. He would likely do great with kids. His compatibility with cats is unknown. Budreau is up to date on vaccines, preventatives, and microchipped, and will soon be neutered. He's ready to find a home where he can share his playful energy and loving nature.

Story
(DOB 09/15/2021) Gracie is heartworm positive and our rescue will treat her so don't let that stop you from adopting this cutie! For this reason, she is adoptable within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC. Her little smile says it all - she's a happy, loveable and wonderful hound that is ready to say, "Take me home with you fur-ever and be mine!!" Gracie is a fun-loving hound mix with a heart as big as her personality. She’s dog-friendly through and through and truly hasn’t met a pup she didn’t like. Kids? Yep, likes them, too. Strangers? She doesn’t know the meaning of the word. Everyone is instantly her new best friend. She wags her nubby tail when she sees you because she is very excited to see people! You are just gonna love, love, love this girl! If you’re hoping to skip some of the basics, Gracie has you covered. She’s house trained, listens well, and is especially impressive with her recall. Oh, and she has learned a pretty cool trick. She rings the bells on the door knob to tell us she has to go outside. She has become a wonderful companion when going for daily walks and is good on leash. A fenced yard (4 ft or higher) is important for her so she can run, play, and burn off some energy while she becomes fully comfortable with daily leash walks.  Gracie would do well as either an only dog or as part of a doggy family, though she’d likely be happiest with a four-legged friend to share life with. (Gracie hasn’t had the chance to meet cats yet, so that remains an unknown.) She thrives on love, attention, and being included in the fun. Like many hounds, she’s curious, clever, and always interested in what’s going on! She also loves to chew, so a good supply of toys and chews will keep her happy and occupied. Gracie is good in the car but it is still something that is new to her, so she is still adjusting to a world on wheels. With that in mind, she still can get car sick.  Like many hounds, Gracie has great facial expressions that will constantly make you smile or even giglle a little. Sweet, social, and full of charm, Gracie is ready to bring joy, laughter, and lots of tail wags to her forever home. Looking for love on four legs? Gracie is waiting! As part of Gracie’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Gracie, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2599058##

Story
Meet Elsie, a sweet but shy beagle who is learning to trust and blossom each day. She is good with kids, but would do best in a calm home as she continues to build her confidence. Elsie also does great with other dogs and benefits from their leadership and companionship. She enjoys spending time outdoors and walks nicely on a leash, making her a great companion for relaxed strolls. She is mostly potty trained and does well when left alone, settling in with ease. Like any beagle, her curious nose can lead her on little adventures, but she’s just as happy stretching out on a big, comfy dog bed for a nap—her favorite part of the day!
