My foster mom says that I have something called hip dysplasia in both my hips, not sure what that is but that must be why I experience pain. A couple of months ago, I had surgery on my left hip and have healed from that. It has helped me so much with pain, and getting around. My right hip still is not good, and foster mom said she will explain this more to my new family. But from what I understand, I'll just need to keep working on building muscle in my hind legs and doing some stretching. Just like the humans do as they get older. I am a super smart girl, and already know sit and how to walk on a leash. I do get excited when I see bunnies on walks but all you have to tell me is leave it and I calm down. My favorite things in all the world are walks with my humans, car rides, and to sunbathe. I also like attention from the humans, and I'll talk to you to get your attention. OPTIMISTIC GOOFBALL Estimated date of birth is 8/8/22, weight 55 lbs. So what is a Blue Lacy, you might ask? Why, it’s the State Dog of Texas, of course! https://www.thesprucepets.com/blue-lacy-breed-profile-4769790 Kip is a fun junky that loves to play with other dogs (sometimes it looks like Wrestlemania), but his second favorite activity is to hang out with his foster mom, chewing on a good bone. He’s such a goofball, always optimistic, always sure that a treat is hiding in your pocket and it has his name on it! A sweet potato – yes. A couch potato – not so much, although when he’s worn out, he does relax and loves to be petted while he snoozes on his dog cot. Kip has been to obedience school and knows the basics (Sit, Down, Place, Wait). He also knows how to use the doggy door and stairs, is OK with baths (he splashes around in the pond at the dog park), and looooves to go on walks (and doesn’t pull much). This boy had a rough first year of his life: abandoned at a large park, found his way to a kennel, was picked up by the City Pound, caught parvo at the pound and wound up on the euthanasia list before his foster mom sprung him! Kip’s ideal home environment would have a mom / dad with an active lifestyle, a spunky little canine sister to play and snuggle with, and a nice size backyard to run around and get the zoomies out. I have decided to re-home my dog, Luna. Luna is 3 years old. She's sweet and friendly full of life and energy. Loves to play with other dogs and run around outside. We named this guy Bandit because he’s EXTREMELY likely to steal your heart. He’s affectionate, but not needy, and has a tragic backstory to boot. What’s not to love! Bandit came to us on 1/23/25, injured and caked with dried mud. He had lots of puncture wounds all over, but mostly on his legs. His rear legs were the most seriously injured. It seemed like he’d been attacked by another animal. X-Rays showed he had old fractures of his right tibia and fibula. Our on staff medical team initially though he would require an amputation, but thankfully with time and a little extra TLC he healed to the point where it was no longer necessary. He is able to walk and run easily, though he does occasionally throw in a bit of a limp to remind you of how far he’s come. Now that he doesn’t have any injuries to distract you, you can focus on how sweet and what a gentleman he is. He’s a very good boy with great leash manners. He’s a calm guy with a versatile energy level. When it’s playtime he’s got lots of energy, but when it’s time to relax he’s perfectly content to chill out and cuddle. He’s perfectly happy to entertain himself by exploring and sniffing around, but his favorite thing in the world is to be loved on. He’ll sit sweetly by your side for as long as you’ll pet him, and he’ll only interrupt you to give you some kisses as a thank you. He sits and shakes on command, and he always takes his treats so nicely from you. He’s also proven himself to already be potty trained! Kids and other dogs alike are a yes for him. He’s very friendly and has gotten along well with everyone he’s met so far – including younger, special needs children. So go ahead, let Bandit steal your heart! He’ll take great care of it and is looking forward to becoming your lifelong best friend.
