Story
Meet Ace - great with kids, super sweet and goofy pup!! Ace is a sweet and loving 10-month-old pup who was surrendered to our group by a family with kids. They had to move out of state and unfortunately couldn't take him along. At 50 lbs, Ace has a gentle and friendly demeanor. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs, is crate and house trained, and absolutely loves spending time with people. Ace is neutered, heartworm tested (negative), up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. We will provide all of his vet records to his new family. You can watch his video here: https://youtube.com/shorts/3RMiJIWelMg?feature=shared If you're interested in adopting Ace or learning more about him, please reach out via email at ALR.ONE.2007@GMAIL.COM for an adoption application.

Story
Lily is an 18 month old Collie / Australian Cattle Dog mix who loves learning with her person! At just 41 lbs, she is agile, fine boned, and petite with velvety-soft short fur and the sweetest eyes. Lily would prefer a home without cats and small animals. She would like to be the only object of her person’s affection, or have a dog friend who is bigger than her and doesn’t mind some rough-and-tumble play at times. She likes to rule the roost, but will accept redirection from dogs who are larger than her. Lily loves to sit in your lap, but won’t smother you with kisses. She just wants to be close to you. Since Lily is 50% Cattle Dog, she is very intelligent but also cautious of new situations, choosing to observe and settle in with her person rather than burst into the room with gusto. She is enrolled with AKC Canine Partners which means she can use her excellent brain to compete in a variety of AKC events. She has even already started Scent Work training! Lily is so smart, she knows how to open some gates and wire crates to let her friends out to play with her, or get the remaining tidbits of food they left over. A simple clip keeps that from happening. Lily is crate trained, but instead sleeps in a doggie-safe room at night and while unsupervised. She walks well on a leash and sticks close to her person. She prefers treats over toys (especially those with stuffing…she operates on them quite quickly!) and is very food motivated. Her current family will help make the transition successful and give you tips on keeping Lily’s mind sharp and engaged. Ready for a loving companion who will watch a movie with you, but also get you off your feet to train and play? Apply to adopt Lily at houstoncollierescue.org.

Story
Meet Shiner, a young, vibrant soul with a love for play. He`s not just playful; he`s smart, energetic, and incredibly cuddly. He`s mostly house trained, walks well on a leash, and behaves admirably inside the home. He weighs 32 pounds and likes car rides, toys, walks, and wrestling. He knows the sit, stay, come, and no commands and won`t run away while off leash. While Shiner may be a bit shy around new faces and prefers to steer clear of children, his curiosity and gentle nature make him a delightful companion. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and cats, making him a great addition to a multi-pet household. Shiner loves to cuddle, making him a perfect lap dog, though he can be a bit distrustful at first. He was given up because he wasn`t adjusting well to his adopters` home. Shiner is looking for a patient, loving family who can cherish his sweet, timid heart and guide him with gentle reassurance. (tw 1/13/2026)

Story
Meet Kash, the shelter`s bundle of joy! This adult dog is the epitome of friendliness, with a cuddly and playful nature. He`s house trained and has an abundance of love to give. He`d love nothing more than putting his petite 79-pound body across your lap for petting and serious snuggling. While Kash may be a bit rough for families with small children, his affectionate and excitable personality makes him ideal for those seeking a loyal companion. Because he can be possessive of his toys, he`ll need to live with children at least 15 years old and you`ll need to bring your dog to meet him. Kash can be a bit needy and enjoys lazy afternoons just as much as playful mornings. With a previous owner, we were told that he knows the sit, stay, no, and wait commands. But he may have forgotten. He likes fetch, running, tugging, toys, and walks - especially when he gets to jump around on a leash - but not car rides. If you`re looking for a lovable and devoted friend, Kash is your perfect match! (tw 11/23/2025)Click `Play` to meet Kash. This animal has been available at the shelter for more than 30 days and is now considered a VIP. The adoption fee is 50% off! -jc (12/23/25)

Story
**Available for foster or foster to adopt** Hi I'm KangaRoo but you can call me Roo or RooRoo if you like. My foster mom says I am the sweetest girl that she has ever met and super smart. My foster mom says that I have something called hip dysplasia in both my hips, not sure what that is but that must be why I experience pain. A couple of months ago, I had surgery on my left hip and have healed from that. It has helped me so much with pain, and getting around. My right hip still is not good, and foster mom said she will explain this more to my new family. But from what I understand, I'll just need to keep working on building muscle in my hind legs and doing some stretching. Just like the humans do as they get older.  I am a super smart girl, and already know sit and how to walk on a leash. I do get excited when I see bunnies on walks but all you have to tell me is leave it and I calm down. My favorite things in all the world are walks with my humans, car rides, and to sunbathe. I also like attention from the humans, and I'll talk to you to get your attention.  You can also check out my foster's social media pages to see some more pictures and videos of me. Tiktok- @fosterpuplife Instagram- @fosterpuplife21 Roo is up to date on shots, spayed, microchipped, tested heartworm negative and on monthly preventative. Fill out an app to meet this deserving girl. Her adoption fee is $100 locally in Houston, TX and can be transported out of state for $250 (includes health certificate and travel fee).  Apply for KangaRoo today and see for yourself how sweet and lovable she is!" https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=SQYPSGVQJune 21, 2025, 10:59 pm
