He’s a super sweet boy who’s befriended every person he’s ever met. His bubbly and playful personality are contagious! Garth has an average energy level, but he definitely gets the zoomies! He loves to go on walks and walks well on a leash. He also loves treats and takes them sweetly from your hand. He doesn’t know any tricks yet, but he’s always perfectly happy to take a free treat! When it comes to toys Garth turns into a total dork. He LOVES toys, especially squeaky toys. Throw one and he’ll get so excited to go after it! He’ll play with it by himself for a moment before (usually) bringing it back to you.

Rocky’s here ready to rock your world! In his own kind and gentle way that is. He’s very sweet and friendly and has great manners. You can tell he’s used to a home environment because he hops right up into the chairs in our play yard unprompted and sits like such a gentleman. He also already knows how to sit and lay on command for a treat. He loves his treats and always takes them gently from your hand. He’s a good listener – especially when there’s a treat on the line! Rocky is quite attentive and focused when you have a treat for him, but he’s also happy to entertain himself. He’s got a lower energy level and comes across as very easygoing. Rocky is a very good boy on leash. He’s easy to leash up and take out, and walks well without pulling. He does sometimes gently jump up on you, but it’s usually to give you a hug or check out the treat you’re holding. Even when jumping up he’s calm and gentle. He’s all about the pets and ear scratches if you have the time. He’s even been known to allow snoot kisses!

Abandoned as a new born puppy found in Central Texas/ San Saba area near death. Nursed to full health. He is up to date on all shots, he has been recently neutered and microchipped. He is house broken and kennel trained and has no accidents in his kennel overnight. He is currently 6 months old, friendly, a little shy, playful and loves to play catch. He looks like a Blue heeler or Australian cattle dog, no idea of additional breeds. He is happy riding in the car, and has had puppy obedience training. He is 32 pounds and loves to play outside. He would love a home with a family that can play with him, and has a yard he can play in. He’s an affectionate dog, and loves to be with people. Shot records, vet records available and all documents associated with his care. Lucky is ready for his forever home and comes with kennel, bowls, toys etc.

Spot is a super sweet and friendly Australian Cattle Dog who came into the shelter injured. He had puss and blood coming from what turned out to be a bullet wound on his right shoulder. He can’t bear weight on that right front leg, and his walk isn’t normal on his back legs either. X-Rays show a comminuted fracture of the right scapula and a comminuted fracture of the left femur. More bullets were found in the poor boy too. Our medical team is keeping him comfortable for now, but he needs more medical care than we can provide as a municipal shelter. Our on staff vet is thinking the front right leg needs an amputation and the left femoral fracture would need to be plated. Due to his medical needs he is currently available for rescue only. Spot is a complicated case, but of course the sweetest dog!

Lotus was a lost older pup who rode well in her finder's car. She was friendly and playful with her finder's dogs. She acts like she wants to play with her shelter neighbors too. She gets anxious to get near and barks if she can't. We haven't seen her with children yet. She seems to be house trained because she knows to do her business outside but please give her time to adjust to a new environment. She weighs 34 pounds and walks well on a leash with only occasional pulling. She might know the sit command. Or might not. She is curious and loves to explore outside. Brisbane is shy but friendly. He is also jumpy and excitable, active and playful. He was abandoned at CAP and can't figure out why his family isn't around anymore. He seems to have learned a few things in the past like the sit command and he might be house trained because he seems to know to do his business outside. Please be patient though if he needs more training. He weighs 46 pounds and enjoys leading the way on a leash while curiously inspecting his surroundings. We haven't seen him interact with children or other dogs but he is very interested in his shelter neighbors. His response to other dogs is inconsistent so you'll need to bring yours to meet him to be sure they get along. He is alert. He is a determined snuggler and likes sitting on a lap. I’m KangaRoo but all my friends call me Roo so you can too. I do love playing with them but sometimes it’s hard to keep up so I’m hoping my forever home has calm play mates that are closer to my age or 2 legged babies that want to love on me. I would also be happy as an only child so I can have all the love and attention. My favorite things include all toys, short to medium walks, car rides, and playing with other dogs. I’ve never met a cat but Mrs. Alex thinks I’d be good in a house with one because I mind my own business and just want to relax with my pack.  KangaRoo’s story: Roo was found at a CrossFit gym near a busy highway when we rescued her. She has hip dysplasia is currently being managed with anti-inflammatories and keeping her on the lighter side of her weight. She is getting Adequan injections to alleviate her hip pain. Roo is nothing but sweet and loving despite her tragic back story and deserves someone that will love her as much as she will love you.  Becuse of her hip pain, she'll need a calmer older companion with slow introduction. Her adoption fee is $200 locally in Houston, TX and $350 out of state (includes health certificate and travel fee). She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and tested heartworm negative.
