Melon, the pretty girl. MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION: Hi Everyone! My name is Melon, and I arrived at CSAC from a shelter. I was taken to a shelter by my former owner. The CSAC volunteer said that I was very sweet and loved to sit in her husband's lap or on his feet during my freedom ride. I need a home that will help me lose a few pounds, but as a senior girl, my walking will be limited. I do like to stand up and dance around on my hind legs. I want a calm household that will love me for the rest of my days and become my new cuddle buddy. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with the CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will turn me into a happy, cherished pet. For more information about this dog, email our Adoption Coordinator. Our adoption process starts with an application. If you are interested in adopting this pup, please click the Adopt menu at the top of the screen, read about our process, and click the application link. The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. Click the Donate menu at the top of the screen. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- TEDDY IS LISTED AS A COURTESY FOR ANOTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATION. PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW.Meet Teddy, a two-year old mini poodle-chihuahua mix who's looking for his forever couch to cuddle up on! This boy has the perfect blend of playfulness and laziness. Teddy is a quiet, affectionate soul who loves nothing more than to snuggle up and relax. He's the perfect companion for those days when you just want to stay in and do nothing. He's always up for a game or a good belly rub. Teddy was previously homed with two other small dogs, so he seems to do well with others. He is up to date on his shots, and is scheduled to be neutered soon. If you're looking for a loyal buddy to share your quiet moments and laughter with, Teddy is the dog for you. Teddy is good with children over 4 years old. Teddy would prefer moderate to calmer large dogs and can handle energetic small dogs just fine.  Come and meet this special boy today! Teddy is located is Covington, VA. My name is Laney, and I just arrived at CSAC. I was rescued from a puppy mill. I have spent my life in a barn, a shed or a cage. The best home for me has people who have dog experience who can help with my training and acclimating to the outside world. The people in my new home should be able to teach me the skills I need to be a great pet: walking on a lead, house training, and socializing. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will help me to understand that I am a cherished family pet, not just an animal to be used to make money.
