Story
Meet Nilla Bean a 5 year old Papillon and Chihuahua mix, who is a happy story of transformation.  While she still has spicy energy and excitement about life as a dog, she is far from the resource guarding pup she was 2 months ago.  She has learned how to play with toys to amuse herself, and incorporate the zoomies alone or with an agreeable dog to expel excess energy.   She also tolerates timeouts in the crate when she gets overwhelmed.  She loves to explore the fenced in yard and shows no signs of wanting to escape.  She occasionally potties in the house but mostly she does her business outside.  She would benefit from walks or dog park visits (after she has bonded with her human).  She loves snuggles and massages and sleeps happily through the night with her humans.  She settled well in the car the few times she’s been a passenger.  She’s a vigilant pup, noticing every movement or sound, and does bark at new noises or people.  For new people visiting, I have her on leash or in the crate until they are in and settled so she can sniff and check things out without the stress of arrival greetings and movement.  She is more comfortable every week with new experiences.  She responds to calm instructions, such as ‘you’re ok’, or ‘come here’ or ‘no bark’ etc.  She is treat and food motivated and in general is learning to trust people and a loving home.  I’m not sure how she would do with kids or cats, but again if they take it slow, I  think she will do fine.  A playful confident resident dog would be great for her, although I think with enough socialization she would also do well as an only dog.  She’s just waiting and improving her doggy skills for her forever family.   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Dental, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $425.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 8, 2025, 9:34 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $550 plus taxMeet Jasper  Jasper is a sweet, sensitive guy who is doing really well for the short time he’s been in foster care. He’s looking for a calm, patient family who will let him move at his own pace and celebrate his many little wins. Jasper loves going for walks and is just starting to discover the joy of toys and treats. He’s learning quickly—working on sit for treats and making good progress with potty training. He’s doing well peeing outside and is still figuring out the pooping part, with a few accidents as he learns the routine. This handsome guy has recently found his voice! He can howl, bark, and whine, though he doesn’t use it much—he just likes knowing the option is there. He’s also incredibly affectionate and absolutely loves sitting in laps. Jasper can be hesitant with transitions like doorways, gates, and stairs. He’ll go up steps but not down yet, and while he can come in from the backyard, the front door is still a challenge. He’s very close, though, and gaining confidence every day. In the mornings, he greets his people with tail wags from his kennel and gets right up to the gate—he just needs a little extra encouragement to take that final step out. Once he’s been outside and finished his business, Jasper runs like the wind—he’s fast, agile, and clearly excited to get back inside where he feels safe and cozy. Jasper does guard his food and will bark if another dog comes too close during meals, so he’ll need thoughtful management and a home willing to continue working on this with patience and consistency. Overall, Jasper is a fun, loving little guy who is trying hard and making steady progress. With a gentle, understanding family, he’s going to keep blossoming into an amazing companion.  If you have previously applied with us please email placement@midwestanimalrescue.org to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. Age: Estimated DOB 8/4/24 Weight: 13 lbs Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Unknown/not tested Kid friendly: Unknown/not tested Potty trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes **NEEDS A FENCED YARD AND ANOTHER DOG IN THE HOME** Meet Enzo! Enzo is an affectionate, gentle little poodle who truly shines once he feels safe and settled. He loves his people and enjoys being close, but he can startle easily—sudden noises can catch him off guard. Because of this, Enzo will do best with a patient adopter who understands shy or sensitive dogs and is willing to help him continue building confidence. Enzo gets along very well with other dogs and has lovely manners. He needs a home with another friendly dog to help show him the ropes and give him reassurance. He’s not high energy and is content with a calm, predictable routine. He is a good eater, sleeps nicely in his kennel, and kennels well when his foster runs errands for a couple of hours. Enzo is also a good little car rider. He walks well on leash and his recall is coming along—he’s learning and picks things up fairly quickly. Enzo is a great little guy who just needs the right home—one that’s patient, understanding, and willing to work with him as he continues to grow in confidence. Adoption Fee: $695
