Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Rigel is a gentle, reserved Miniature Poodle who needs time, patience, and the right people to help him shine. He may start out skittish, but once he chooses his person, he becomes a loyal little shadow who wants nothing more than to be close. Rigel tends to feel more comfortable around women and can be unsure of men at first, sometimes barking or growling when he’s nervous. With consistency and calm reassurance, he settles and has even been known to curl up next to his foster dad once he feels safe. Now that he’s gaining confidence, Rigel is beginning to show his playful side. He loves small stuffed toys, nightly chew sessions with bully sticks or pig ears, and cuddling on the couch or in bed. He enjoys being out and about as long as his trusted person is right beside him, and he rides quietly in the car. Rigel does best with another dog in the home—preferably one similar in size—who can help him continue learning how to be a confident house dog. He has lived with cats and done well, and he gets along with most dogs, though he avoids pushy or cantankerous personalities. A fenced yard is important for him, as he loves the freedom to explore safely. Potty training is coming along nicely with a schedule, and he knows cues like “outside” and “go potty.” Crates are not his favorite and he takes time to settle, but he does well when riding in one in the car. Rigel is a sweet, intelligent little dog who blossoms with patience. Once he bonds, he is affectionate, cuddly, and devoted. He will thrive in a calm home with considerate older kids or adults, a gentle canine companion, and someone willing to give him the time he needs to trust. With the right family, Rigel will become the loving, loyal companion he’s meant to be. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Isley, known as Izzy to those lucky enough to share a couch with her, is nine pounds of fluffy poodle charm wrapped in equal parts sass, sweetness, and tiny diva energy. She’s a miniature shadow who follows her people everywhere, determined to be both your personal assistant and your full-time emotional support gremlin. If you’ve ever wanted a dog who will love you with her entire soul and also judge you just a tiny bit while doing it, Izzy is your girl. Izzy warms up slowly to new people, especially men, and she is not afraid to announce her suspicions with a bark or two (or ten). The whole time she’s barking, her tail is wagging like mad because she’s brave, but she’s also friendly, and she also has a lot of feelings and wants to share them all at once. Once she decides you’re safe, she melts into a puddle of cuddles, kisses, and goofy charm. She loves treats, toys, puzzle games, raw bones, and anything edible—even strawberries and bell peppers. She is very proud of this. She’s food-motivated, attention-motivated, and absolutely certain she deserves both at all times. Izzy plays beautifully with dogs and cats, though what she wants most is a human who’s home a lot so she can keep her favorite job: professional lap warmer. Izzy is crate trained and does well once she’s in, though she’ll give you her best dramatic monologue about how she’d rather not. Potty training is definitely still a work in progress, but she’s getting there—slowly but surely—with routine, patience, and frequent breaks. She’s working on leash skills too, mostly because she’s very busy being adorable indoors and hasn’t quite decided if walking nicely outside is worth the effort. Her bond with other pups is strong, and she takes her protector role seriously. She will curl up happily with them in the coziest spots—often in a dark closet or wedged between pillows like tiny royalty figures napping on a throne. Izzy has a whole vocabulary of barks, from her excited play chirps to her “something suspicious is happening” alarm call. She’s expressive, funny, affectionate, and smart in that mischievous poodle way that means she’ll make you laugh daily. Izzy is a quirky, cuddly, vocal little sweetheart who will adore her people with her entire heart. If you want a tiny companion who sleeps like a princess, plays like a goofball, and loves like she means it, Izzy is ready to claim her spot in your pillows—and in your life.  Off you’re looking for an adorable pair, adoptable Fiora is her bestie! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.             Newsboy is a fluffy little Bichon Frise/Poodle mix who’s still finding his confidence in the big wide world. At just 9 pounds, he’s shy but oh-so-sweet, learning how to trust people, play with toys, and enjoy all the perks of being a puppy. He’s happiest when he’s outside in the snow, zooming around with his foster sisters, or curled up as a couch potato in bed. Newsboy is cautious with new people and loud noises, but once he feels safe, his gentle and affectionate side shines through. He’s still working on potty training and leash skills, so a fenced yard is a must for this little explorer. Bully sticks are his favorite treat, and he’s slowly discovering the fun of toys. He does best in a calm home with patient humans who can give him the time and space he needs to blossom. Another dog in the home is best since he gains confidence from his furry friends. Newsboy may start out timid, but with love and patience, he’s sure to grow into a loyal, playful companion. He’s a gentle soul ready to find his forever family and learn what it truly means to be a beloved pup. **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! He is being currently being treated for a skin condition that is not contiguous or life long. It's being treated with medication. This will not be a life long treatment or something that will need be to treated again. This fee must be paid within 24 hours, or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion.   Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is to place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward.
