Story
Available for adoption near Birmingham, AL Adina is a special 25 lb red-tri border collie female. She was found wandering the streets in southern Georgia. It was apparent she had been abused either in her previous home or while she was on her own. She is slow to trust, but with patience we are now seeing signs of trust after four+ months. This girl just wants someone she can trust and who will love her unconditionally.\ She loves to go on walks but can be reactive to other dogs and large or loud vehicles. She gets along with other dogs with slow introductions but does best with male dogs. She is okay with cats but wants to herd them. A simple reminder is all she needs to back off. She is good with children 7 and up who know how to act around dogs. She would be happy with another male dog who likes to play or as the only dog who gets all the attention. She does not do well at dog parks. She loves one on one attention and will sit or lay with you to get pets. She loves to go for car rides and likes to let you know when there are trucks close to the car. She is not a big barker but has her own way of talking to you. She is a very sensitive girl and just a firm voice will make her think she is in big trouble. She knows sit, settle and come and has good recall. She gets scared when there are thunderstorms, fireworks or loud noises but settles down if someone is with her. Adina is house-trained but does not use a crate. She is roughly 3 ½ years old, spayed and current on immunizations. If this sweet girl sounds like your perfect match, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/old-adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to her new furever family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Story
🐾WALLACE🖤 Wallace is a loving, handsome, 1.5 year old border Collie/husky mix. He is amazing with other dogs & lives with a bunch of them! He does well with cats as long as a clear expectation is made of how he should behave. 🐱 Wallace is house trained and kennel trained, and he walks/runs well on leash! He would do well with older children as long as they are familiar with the breed & ok with potentially being herded. 🐶 This sweet boy thrives with consistency. He has a hard time adapting to change but has gotten better and will continue to improve with the right amount of training. Wallace can get very excited and just needs someone calm and consistent in these times to help him be the best boy!🖤 Is Wallace the pup you’ve been looking for? 🌼Meet Cookie Cookie is a six month old Border Collie mix. She was saved by a kind family after being hit by a car. She is fully recovered from her injuries now and is ready to find her new family. 💕 Cookie is not only beautiful but is incredibly sweet as well. She is kind and gentle and just wants to be loved. She can be a bit shy at first but quickly warms up once she meets you and will stick by her person like glue. Cookie would be a great family dog with older children or the perfect companion. Due to her breed mix she needs space to run so a fenced in yard or a home with acreage would be ideal. 🐾 If Cookie sounds like the one you have been waiting for, please submit the adoption application. Sweet Cookie deserves to be loved and spoiled for the rest of her life! 🥰

Story
Meet Sheesh, an energetic and happy-go-lucky Border Collie/Lab mix, who is as cute and silly as her name!  Sheesh was found as a stray with her brother Ozy, and we’re estimating the siblings to be about 8 to 9 months old. While her age is a little uncertain, her breed is much more clear. According to newly arrived breed-test results, Sheesh is half Border Collie and a quarter Labrador Retriever, along with small amounts of a few other breeds. She has a beautiful, somewhat-long and wavy coat with a fluffy tail.  Sheesh is super friendly with adults, kids and other dogs. There’s truly not a mean bone in her body. She would do best in a home with another young and/or playful dog. She has the potential to annoy an older dog who doesn’t like to play.  Sheesh’s hobbies include chewing on ice cubes and playing fetch. She loves chasing the ball and brings it back most of the time. She could be a fetch expert with a little training. Sheesh also loves water. We’re not sure if she can swim, but she enjoys walking through sprinklers on walks and looks so happy when she’s all wet! She sits calmly in the bath tub during bath time.  Sheesh is an active older puppy and would love an active family who wants to take her on adventures. A playful doggy sibling and large fenced-in yard would be an added bonus!  Sheesh is very smart and goes to her crate when she hears the word “crate.” She sleeps quietly in her crate at night and is solidly potty trained. She currently weighs 40lbs and we’re guessing she won’t surpass 50 lbs, so she’ll be a nice, manageable size when full grown.” If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.cognitoforms.com/DixieGirl1/PetAdoptionApplicationForm2 Most of our are pets are fostered in Southern foster homes and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Story
Meet Ozy, a joyful border collie mix, whose luck changed thanks to his sister. Sheesh was pulled from a rural animal control, and she was such a wonderful dog that her foster decided she couldn’t leave the brother behind.  Ozy is about 8 months old and has a very similar personality to his sister. He’s happy, goofy, playful and super friendly with people and other dogs. According to a breed test done on Ozy’s sister, Ozy is likely half border collie, about 25 percent lab and small percentages of a few other breeds, including German Shepherd.  Ozy is an active older puppy who loves going on walks. He would love an active family who wants to take him on adventures. A playful doggy sibling and large fenced-in yard would be an added bonus!  Ozy is very smart and goes to his crate when he hears the word “crate.” He sleeps quietly in his crate at night and is solidly potty trained. He currently weighs 45 lbs and we’re guessing he won’t surpass 60 lbs, so he’ll be a nice, manageable size when full grown.
