Story
Arlo is 5 years old. He loves walks, playing ball and running around the yard. He is sweet, smart and is a big goofball. He is very curious and loves people. He would need to be the only dog in the home and it would be a plus if his new person was able to train him. He needs leash training as he tries to run after other dogs and tugs on and lunges on the leash hard. He is food driven but not food aggressive. My sister lost her husband and then her dog she had for many years. She adopted a new dog and when she brought him home Arlo didnt get along with him. And to be honest I've never really been able to bond with him. He needs someone to love him like crazy and take him on adventures. It would be great if you have a fenced in yard and live an active lifestyle as he likes to go on adventures and meet new people. He would do well with children too. I need to rehome him quickly and please call me with any Questions.

Story
Jackson is a loyal, intelligent Border Collie mix who came to the shelter with his brother, Teddy, after their owner passed away. At 8 years old, Jackson is a mature gentleman who’s past the puppy chaos and ready for a calm, loving home where he can feel safe again. True to his Border Collie roots, Jackson is smart and observant. He enjoys having a routine, going for walks, and spending time near his people—whether that’s quietly keeping watch or soaking up gentle affection. He doesn’t need constant activity, but he does appreciate mental stimulation and purposeful movement that lets him feel useful and engaged. Jackson does well with other dogs, especially his brother, and would do best with someone who understands older dogs and values the steady companionship they bring. He’s the kind of dog who forms deep bonds and stays close once he knows he belongs. After losing the only family he’s ever known, Jackson is hoping for a second chance—one filled with patience, kindness, and love. If you’re looking for a devoted companion with wisdom in his eyes and a gentle heart, Jackson may be the one for you If interested, go to our website www.humanecherokeecounty.org, click on adoption and fill out a form. A volunteer will contact you once they have recieved a completed application.
