Story
Red was first spotted on a trail camera by a Merced County rescuer while she was trying to secure another abandoned dog. Thin and shy at first, Red kept returning for food and slowly began to trust. After weeks of patience, she was finally safely secured and has been thriving in foster care since October 2025. Red is a beautiful Border Collie mix (likely with retriever) and an exceptional dog. She loves other dogs, is curious about birds and squirrels, and enjoys having her nose to the ground. Her foster says she’s one of the easiest dogs she’s ever integrated into her home. About Red: • ~1.5 years old (born October 2024) • Spayed, 64 lbs • Up to date on vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, and on flea prevention • Dog, cat, and livestock friendly • Leash trained, house trained, and great in the car • Shy with new people but deeply loyal once she bonds—she’s a true velcro dog Red would do best in a home with another similar-sized dog to play with. She’s a big, smart puppy who will thrive with structure, exercise, and continued socialization. Red is fostered in Merced, but can be shown in the bay area. If you’re interested in adopting, please apply at 1luckydogrescue.org or email Nancy at nancymoore016@gmail.com and tell us about the home you’d offer Red. 🐶💕

Story
Meet Lady, our sweet and affectionate flat-coated retriever who truly brings joy wherever she goes. At about 18 months old, Lady is still young, playful, and full of life. We found her out in the country a few months ago, and from the moment she joined our family, she has shown nothing but love and loyalty. Lady has a gentle, caring nature that makes her wonderful with kids, other animals, and adults alike. She’s incredibly social and thrives on being around people, always ready to greet you with a wagging tail and a happy spirit. Full of energy and enthusiasm, she loves to play and be part of the action, but she also has a calm, comforting side. One of her favorite things to do is lay near your feet or snuggle up close for cuddles, just happy to be by your side. With her kind heart and friendly personality, Lady isn’t just a pet, she’s a truly special companion.

She loves people and other dogs, and has no sense of personal space. While good with dogs, she does like to chase other animals. She is house trained and used to sleeping inside the home, though lacks other training. She has never shown any signs of aggression to children or adults, nor any food or toy possessiveness. Shes a really smart and good dog. We are looking to rehome due to financial and familial reasons and she deserves a family who has the time and energy to stimulate her brain and tire her out. She has never bitten anyone.” Due to the pet not being in our care, it is out of our control when and if the owner responds to your inquiry.
