Story
We saved Freddy from being taken to a shelter as a 10 week old puppy. He is very smart and knows sit, shake, and lay down. He is kind, but he requires more energy we can provide with two children ages 2 and 4. My husband also works out of town quite often so we just do not have the time for him.

Story
Haku, age 6 mostly border collie, a little German shepherd. Got him as a puppy, only one owner. Incredibly high energy, sweet and loving. No aggression, can easily flip him over, roll on his back, play around, grab his feet or any part of him and he’s totally fine with it. A little separation anxiety and wants to be around people all the time. Sleeps in bed with us but doesn’t love to snuggle. The fastest dog I’ve ever seen, incredibly agile and athletic. Needs tons of exercise. Eats really well (slight growls and food protection with other animals), very healthy and in shape, no medical problems or illnesses. Not super treat driven but very toy driven. He’s truly the fetch king. Can fetch for hours on end, he’s obsessed. Fully house trained, crate trained (loves his crate). Can get a little barky with strangers or knocks on the door but has never bitten or hurt anyone. Insanely intelligent and picks up new tricks or training immediately. Infinitely trainable. Needs a job!

Story
This pet is part of the rehoming program and is not in the care of the CCSPCA. Please read carefully and reach out to the owner directly via cell: 925-809-5537 or email:victoriajett20@gmail.com. The owner states, “ I am a new mom who’s been uprooted from an alcoholic relationship. I have to stay with family for awhile and restart life. My dog is about 11 years old. He’s a border collie mix. He can be hyper but he also loves to lay around. He’s never bitten anyone or any dog. He will surrender if another dog comes at him. He loves squeaky toys. He doesn’t play with other dogs but doesn’t mind having them around. He’s vocal, he growls when he’s playing and happy. But he is absolutely not mean. He does a happy dance when it’s dinner time. He knows a lot of tricks. He’s very smart and listens well. Our home is mostly quiet. Other dogs on the other side of the fence and he doesn’t care. He’s a people lover. ” Due to the pet not being in our care, it is out of our control when and if the owner responds to your inquiry. Thank you.

Story
Sadie is a sweet, gentle 7–8-year-old Border Collie/Spaniel mix located in Las Vegas, Nevada, and she’s the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart. Weighing about 37 pounds, Sadie has spent the last five years as a deeply loved family companion. Her family is facing an overseas military move, and after a lot of careful thought, they’ve made the heartbreaking decision to find Sadie a new home that can offer her the stability and care she deserves. Sadie is an easy dog to live with. She’s an indoor companion who does perfectly fine when left home alone—she simply curls up and sleeps until you return. She’s wonderful with men and women and is shy but gentle around new people. She hasn’t had much exposure to children, but her submissive, non-reactive nature suggests she would do best with calm, respectful interactions. When someone comes to the door, Sadie will bark to alert you, but it’s not aggressive in any way—just her way of letting you know someone’s there. She has a low energy level and doesn’t demand constant activity. While she’ll happily hop, spin, and do her adorable “bucking bronco” routine for treats, those playful bursts are short-lived and end with her settling back down. She enjoys companionship more than exercise and is perfectly content staying home rather than needing outings. At night, she sleeps on her bed or the floor, though she’ll gladly cuddle on the bed if invited. Sadie does well with other dogs and has even stayed at a boarding facility for a week without any issues. She currently lives with two cats and coexists peacefully—she may playfully jump around them but does not chase. True to her herding roots, she occasionally shows mild herding behavior and enjoys watching birds, but it’s all gentle and manageable. Health-wise, Sadie is spayed, up to date on vaccinations through October 2026, and microchipped. She is a heartworm survivor and is now healthy, maintained on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. She does have sensitive skin and a dry nose that worsens in the Las Vegas heat, and she does noticeably better in cooler weather. Fireworks and unexpected loud noises can startle her, so she appreciates a calm, reassuring environment during those times. Sadie would thrive in a quiet home with a small yard and a calm routine. A stay-at-home person would be a bonus, but not a requirement. She should have a fenced yard, as she can become distracted if allowed to free roam. She will come with her beds, food, toys, blankets, a soft crate, car seat cover, leash, collar, and any remaining supplements or calming treats. Sadie is a truly special girl—gentle, affectionate, and full of quiet charm. She loves cuddling, enjoys being towel-dried after the rain, and has a soft, grateful soul that just wants to be near her people. She’s not flashy or demanding—she’s simply a good dog who deserves a peaceful, loving home for her next chapter. If you’re interested, go to diggs4dogs.com and fill out an application.

Story
Haku is a stunning 6-year-old Border Collie mix located in Coarsegold, California, and he is truly an athlete at heart. Weighing about 45 pounds, Haku is incredibly intelligent, loyal, and full of life. His family loves him deeply but is rehoming him due to major life changes, including downsizing their home and welcoming a new baby, which makes it impossible to give him the active lifestyle he deserves. Haku is very high energy and thrives when he has a job to do. He is obsessed with fetch and will happily chase a ball for hours on end. He has spent his life adventuring in places like Tahoe—camping, kayaking, backpacking, biking, and even backcountry skiing. Water is his absolute favorite thing in the world. He is an incredible swimmer and will stay in the lake as long as you let him. His athleticism is unmatched—he is fast, fearless, agile, and can leap impressive distances with ease. He does well with men, women, children, other dogs, and cats. While he grew up with multiple animals, he’s more focused on his person and his activities than on socializing with other pets. He has excellent recall outdoors, though squirrels and moving critters can sometimes distract him briefly. He is well trained and knows commands such as sit, stay, paw, and roll over. Inside the home, Haku needs structure and routine. He has some separation anxiety and must be crated when left alone, which he is very comfortable with and even enjoys as his safe space. Without enough exercise or attention, he can become restless and destructive, so an active home is essential for his success. He sleeps in bed at night but prefers not to cuddle too closely. Haku has a sensitive stomach and does best staying strictly on his regular food, with slow introductions to anything new. He is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and healthy. His ideal home would be a farm, a house with a large yard, or an extremely active person or couple who loves hiking, running, swimming, and outdoor adventures. He is not suited for apartment living or for a family that is away from home most of the day. With the right match, Haku will be an extraordinary companion—loyal, wildly athletic, and endlessly devoted. If you’re interested, go to diggs4dogs.com and fill out an application.
