Story
Please contact Isabell (pawparent@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Kristi was found next to a freeway as a tiny puppy by a good Samaritan. He and his wife weren't able to keep her and so she was brought to Paw Parent. She loves it here and made a whole lot of new friends, like Pinto who became a great playmate. Her personality is so sweet and quite mellow for a 3 month old puppy. She is a cuddler and cries for joy when she hasn't seen her human for a while and loves to give hugs. She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and would love to find a family she can call her own. Please call 661-724-0642 or email us at pawparent@gmail.com if you would like to meet herApril 22, 2024, 6:02 pm

Story
A little note from Jerry - July 2022: Hi, my name is Jerry. I used to be called Scary Jerry because I was afraid of everyone that came near me. But since I've been at Shadow Ranch I've started loosening up and realizing people are kinda okay. So I've outgrown the name and am now just Jerry. I use to be a bit of a rowdy rascal, which entailed herding people by the ankles, barking, and eating poop; but I try really hard to be a good boy and behave.... so now I'm only a rascal on occasion when I get really excited. I love all my dog friends here and playing ball is my favorite; I'm the fastest one of all my friends, but if one of the others somehow get the ball before me I'll just try and steal it from 'em. Not to brag but I'm pretty darn smart and I know to potty outside, how to stay in my crate (although if I'm left out I do enjoy sitting on top of my crate... the view is better from up there), sit, down, shake, and even roll. I shake, rattle, and roll! I like to be active as I have a lot of energy, but I like to cuddle and give licks to my people as well. I've been here at SOS Dog Rescue since September 2021 and I'm so ready to find my forever home, where my family will be patient with me and accept me for my quirky-ness; so I can just be myself... just Jerry. Update on Jerry Dec 21: Jerry can be mouthy (definitely a heeler). Very active, he can be shy with new people and even a little stubborn. Jerry is great with dogs but will not a strong human leader. He is not recommended with children under 12 years old. Jerry came to us from The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center in September 2021. He is about 2 years old and thought to be a Border Collie/Heeler mix. He is a little shy at first but warms up quick. He is good with dogs and doing well with his training. Stay tuned for more on Jerry!

Story
Misty was spotted in a large open field close to a freeway. She was seen hobbling. I attempted to go get her but the moment she spotted me, she ran with her back leg up. It almost seems impossible to catch her, so, we left food on that field every day for 3 weeks until we placed a trap. She was so emacited, so sad, so broken. She went into a foster home and that is where she flourished. She loves dogs, she is housetrained, she is learning commands quickly and she loves to cuddle. She turned out to be the perfect dog! She didn't need surgery for her leg, only steroid shots that will last a few weeks. She is ready to call a family hers.

These pups are in Tehachapi, California too!

Story
Sex: FemaleBreed: Australian Kelpie xEstimated Birth Date: 11/1/2020When Kern County Animal Services reached out regarding Sierra we agreed to meet her but honestly didn’t have high hopes. Sierra was born with an Imperforate Anus. What this means is she did not have an anal opening. Her feces passed through her vaginal area. Most dogs with this condition grow septic when they are puppies and often humane euthanasia is the kindest option. But Sierra somehow beat the odds. Not only has she made it to adulthood but she is thriving! This girl has so much light and life! She is definitely a dog that deserved a 2nd Chance. Sierras surgery was complicated. But that’s where we excel. We’re good at complicated. She came out of her surgery with flying colors and has made a full recovery. Sierra is happy, social and active. She loves people, although she’s a touch shy and timid when 1st getting to know them, and wants nothing more than a bit of love and affection. Well let’s be real she really wants all your love and attention lol. True to her breed she has a good amount of fun energy and would do best in a home with some physical activity. She’d be a great hiking buddy and would love to go on all of your adventures. Sierra is good with other dogs and has been amazing with every dog we’ve paired her with at the ranch. Due to the nature of the anal repairs Sierra needed she is not fully house trained. We’ve got her on a pretty consistent schedule which has helped tremendously with timing her to void outside but she will likely never be completely perfect. If Sierra’s story touches you as much as it’s touched us please apply to give this very deserving girl an amazing home. Story
Sex: MaleBreed: Australian Shepherd xEstimated Date of Birth : 01/27/2023When beauty is combined with smarts you get Neptune! This sweet boy is stunning and has all the brains and fun you Aussie fans love about the breed. He’s high energy, enthusiastic and gorgeous! Definitely a winning combination. He’s looking for an active family willing to keep him challenged and set boundaries that will ensure he’s appropriately engaged. Have dogs? He loves them too especially other fun loving friends he can pal around with. Neptune may be a familiar face. He was adopted last summer as a younger pup but unfortunately that family wasn’t his perfect fit. There was too much going on in the home and neighborhood and it was a bad environment for this boy. He’s had a chance to decompress at our ranch and is doing great which means it’s time to begin the search for his perfect home. Neptune is very affectionate and eager to please. He really just wants a job like all Aussies do. Do you like K9 sports? Looking for an agility partner? Want to learn a new hobby like dock diving? This boy would love all of those things and could be your new best friend! If you’ve been looking for the perfect adventure buddy Neptune just might be the perfect fit for you!
