Story
Finn is a funny and sweet dog. He is high energy but calms when asked to. We purchased him about a year ago to be our second herding dog as ours is getting older and not able to do the work. He needs someone with experience with working dogs. He was doing amazing at herding until recently it’s like he goes into work mode and his ears turn off and he ignores his recall. We were willing to work with him on this but he was also our protection dog for the goats and chickens, especially at night. In the last few weeks he has been using our chickens as a late night snack and we do not have the time to train him out of this habit as we have a newborn. He is great during the day protecting the chickens from other predators but at night he treats himself by eating one of the chickens… He is not neutered due to his rare coloring and being purebred to potentially breed later. He is great with our toddler, very very sweet and gentle. Unfortunately he is eating our income.

Story
I got Buddy about 6 years ago. A friend of mine found him in the road and I took him. He’s been a wonderful companion but I can no longer give him the care he deserves. Work keeps me away from home for most of the day while he’s alone as well as other obligations that keep me out of the house. I don’t know his age but I believe he’s 7-10 now based on the white in his fur. He still has plenty of puppy play left in him despite his age but is also happy to lay around and be lazy with you. He does not play well with any other kind of animal but is perfectly fine with strangers and children.

Story
Hela was the only of her litter that was born and raised outside to have survive. She was taken in by The Ironwood Homestead and Sanctuary where she got a lot of exposure to other animals and gave birth to a litter of wonderful baby boys. She loves trying to herd the chickens and has a knack at finding old bones to chew on. She loves exploring outside and would do well with someone that also spends lots of time outside. She is great with other dogs, cats, goats, birds (chickens and larger). She knows a few tricks like sit, stay, up, spin, and paw but can be too excited or stubborn at times. She is VERY food motivated and loves to run around.

Story
We have welcomed 'Quinn' to the Heart in Hand Family! We believe he is a Border Collie/Heeler Mix, about 4 years old. In such a short time, he has shown us what a little gentlemen he is! Seems friendly with everyone, submissive with other dogs, as he just wants to play! Seems ok around cats - he ignores them for the most part - unless they hiss and run then its 'tag your it' haha! He also seems good around other farm animals - doesn't pay attention to chickens or goats! He only wants to play with his doggies friends and be with a person. We need to work on leash training and basic commands which we started yesterday! He is very bright and has already started to get the gist of what we are asking from him! Just a wonderful lil' spirit! We just know he is going make such a wonderful addition to his new family! Quinn is UTD on vacinations, microchipped and neutered! https://www.heartinhandcrittersrescue.com If you are interested in meeting this sweet boy, please fill out our online adoption application: https://form.jotform.com/83004164874153

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Rayla was rescued from a high-kill shelter as a puppy on  November 9, 2024 , and has been patiently waiting in foster care ever since. Despite spending most of her young life in foster, this sweet girl is still searching for the loving family she deserves.   Like many people, public places can be overwhelming for Rayla. She doesn’t always show her true personality at adoption events and may be shy, especially around men. But once she’s back in the comfort of her home and feels safe, she transforms into a happy, affectionate, and playful companion.   Rayla has a joyful spirit that’s impossible not to love. Her full-body wiggles, wagging tail, and enthusiastic requests for belly rubs are her favorite ways of showing just how much she loves her people. She has a fun, upbeat personality that shines once she trusts you, and her adoring gaze says it all.   Rayla has an old leg injury that likely occurred when she was a puppy. It healed in an abnormal position, and vets determined that correcting it would require a major surgery or amputation—neither of which is recommended since she isn’t in pain and has adapted remarkably well. While her gait may look a little different, it doesn’t slow her down. She enjoys running, playing, and rolling around in the yard.   Rayla is a small-to-medium-sized adult dog, weighing approximately  35-40 pounds . She is  crate trained, house trained, and spayed , making her ready to transition into her forever home.   Please contact us with any questions!
