Story
Tommy is a 1 year old Border Collie mix with bright eyes and a busy brain, the kind of dog who is always ready for the next assignment. He was surrendered for not being the right fit for his previous family, but that just means his perfect match is still out there.Tommy does jump when he gets excited, so he would do best in a home with kids 8 and up who can handle his enthusiasm. He keeps his kennel clean when let out regularly, walks nicely on a leash, and takes treats gently. He is also a big fan of chewing on bones, happily settling in once his energy has had a proper outlet. He gets along well with other dogs but would prefer a cat free home. With structure, activity, and someone who appreciates a smart, active companion, Tommy will absolutely thrive. He is ready to trade “not the right fit” for “home at last.”

Story
Hi guys, I’m Bear! I’m a Border Collie mix with a heart as big as my name. I am the definition of happy-go-lucky. I love everyone I meet, especially when they give me butt scratches - I will lean for them! I love playing with other canine friends and will toss toys around like a a big goof. I am always ready for some fun. I will enjoy wherever you take me since I love being glued to people. When I’m done with play time, I love to lounge on a nice comfy bed and snooze away. When the humans here give me a treat, I make them laugh by talking to them. I know I would be a perfect fit in your home, I just need someone to give me a chance! I think you should come meet me, I guarantee you’ll love me!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Riccwat@aol.com for more information about this pet.Meet Danny!! Danny is a 10-month-old male dog who is currently in a foster home and working on basic skills. He is getting better at fetch and dropping the ball. He is also practicing “sit” and “wait.” Danny goes on multiple walks a day and currently uses an Easy Walk harness while he continues to work on leash manners. He is intelligent, eager to please, playful, goofy, affectionate, even-tempered, a bit skittish, and housetrained. Danny has playful puppy energy and would likely enjoy having a dog buddy who can help give him more activity. In his foster home, he plays with an older doodle and can be redirected when play gets too intense. He benefits from activity, structure, and continued training. A very active senior could handle Danny as long as they are prepared for his energy and ongoing training needs. Danny can be cautious when meeting new people. In foster care, he approached a woman and wanted to be petted, but he was not ready to make contact with a man. He has not met children or cats yet. Because Danny can be enthusiastic during play, a home with medium or larger dog friends may be the best fit. The foster reports that he is not as good with their 13-pound dog because he does not yet understand that he cannot play full out with smaller animals. The foster also notes that he is intelligent and may figure this out with time, training, and supervision. Danny does well in his kennel overall. He may bark at first when left alone, but he settles down and has not been destructive. Toys and enrichment help keep him occupied. He is not afraid of water and jumps right into the wading pool. He sees geese and deer daily and still usually barks at them; he is getting acclimated, but if he is out on a walk, he wants to chase. Danny would benefit from an adopter who can continue working with him on training, exercise, and manners. We are still getting to know Danny so stay tuned for updates!! He is being fostered in Springfield, IL. Please contact riccwat@aol.com if you have questions about Danny.       *** The potential adopter will get a refund on the Application Fee if it’s determined by the Foster Parent that the foster dog is not a good match for the applicant and we do not process their application.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 7, 2026, 9:31 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. The Center for Animal Rescue and Enrichment (CARE) of St Louis MO is seeking a forever home for Nancy Drew, a young BC mix who has been in their shelter since last September when she was picked up stray in the St Louis area. Nancy is a sweet young dog who is in need of a home where dog behavior is understood and she can receive the training she needs.  Her puppy behaviors of jumping and barking can be managed and the sooner she is adopted and out of the shelter, the sooner that positive training can begin, which will allow Nancy to be the friendly youngster that the shelter workers know. Because of her shelter environment, some things are not known about Nancy:  how she rides in a car, how she behaves around children, etc.  However, her overall personality is that of a dog who wants to learn things and be with people.   If you want to know more about Nancy Drew or make an appointment to meet her, please contact CARE St Louis at adopt@icarestl.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 7, 2026, 9:31 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Slick is an adult Border Collie whose owner is faced with reducing the number of dogs she has, and so Slick is looking for a forever home.  His owner describes him: "Meet Slick, Slick is an incredible dog with so much love to give. He has a wonderful temperament and gets along beautifully with both dogs and cats. He has an impressive recall, enjoys being with his people, and is the kind of companion who settles into family life with ease. Slick is neutered, fully treated for heartworm, and is now heartworm negative. He has overcome that challenge and is healthy, ready to enjoy the life he deserves. Making the decision to seek a new home for Slick has been one of the hardest choices I've ever had to make. I care about him deeply and never wanted to rehome him. However, as I prepare to move out of my parents' home, I've had to face the reality that I simply have more dogs than I can realistically provide the time, attention, and resources each one deserves. Slick is not being rehomed because of any behavioral issues. He is a wonderful dog who has done absolutely nothing wrong. This decision comes solely from wanting what is best for him. He deserves a family that can give him more one-on-one attention, adventures, and the kind of life that is difficult for me to provide with so many dogs in my care. I am trying everything I can to find him the right placement before it ever comes to that. My hope is that he can find a loving home where he will be cherished as much as he is now, with the opportunity to truly thrive. This is a decision made entirely out of love. More than anything, I want Slick to have the life he deserves." NOTE: Slick will need a patient home that can help with his housetraining issues. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Poppy Seed (Poppy for short) is a 5 year old female BC mix with a rescuer in Columbia, IL, who was able to remove Poppy from a situation in which she was subject to mistreatment.  The rescuer is seeking a forever home for Poppy where she will be loved, trained, and helped to recover from her early years.  Her rescuer describes her: Poppy is an approximately 5 year old Border Collie. She came from a bad home [and needs a home  that will] give her the time and attention she needs. Poppy is very sweet and snuggly, playful, can be independent, easy to please, and is very well behaved when home alone. She learns pretty quickly and enjoys making you happy in her growth. Her favorite toy is the jolly ball or herding ball. She loves to play 'goalie.' Sometimes she asks for 'uppies,' but doesn't like the process of being put back down. LOVES hugs if not okay with 'uppies.' Loves walks and is good on leash. Sometimes can get a bit excited of course, but doesn't pull badly when she is excited. She's been a treat to have around!  Her only real issues are being fearful in the crate, and sometimes with her food. We have been working on this, and she's been doing well! Poppy has not been around children or cats, and she will need to be tested for heartworm and put on monthly preventive. If you want to know more about Poppy or set up a meeting with her, please contact her rescuer at samantha.cuebas5@gmail.comVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 7, 2026, 9:31 pm
