Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Spirit is a young Border Collie who was adopted recently by her current owner from what that owner describes as 'a bad situation.'  Her owner says Spirit is a lovely dog but is not fitting in with the resident dogs in her current home, and so is available for adoption. While Spirit and the resident dogs in her current home do not get along, this does not mean that Spirit will react negatively to all dogs in general; however, a potential owner should be aware of this and that Spirit may want to be an only dog in her home.  She is accepting of adults and older children, but will chase cats if the opportunity arises.  Since Spirit is living in Kentucky and is not being kept on heartworm preventive, she will need to be tested for heartworm and a potential owner should make this a priority. Spirit's current owner says that she is a 'Shy loving border collie that needs someone who knows how to work with them. Might not like other dogs.' If you are interested in meeting Spirit or learning more about her, please contact her current owner at hatfield.michelle@gmail.comVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 3:42 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Brie is a 9-year old BC/Rat Terrier mix who is in need of a forever home due to allergies of the newborn child of her owners in her current home.  She is a well-behaved, playful girl and seems to get along well with people and other dogs, and likely even with cats, although her exposure to them has been limited. Her owners say this about Brie: Brie , Breed: Border Collie, Rat Terrier mix , Age: Approx. 9 years old , Health: No current healthconcerns. She is up to date on Rabies shot. Her annual is due but I will get that done soon. She isspayed.Description: She is very lovable and loves her people. She can be a good guard dog but knowswhen to stand down. She can be vocal and is very vocal when with dogs bigger than her. She's notafraid to establish her space and boundaries if need be; however, she is not one to bite others at all - She is a sweetheart. She can get defensive around big dogs but all she does is bark. She barks when she plays too so it may seem as if she's being aggressive but she's really just playing. She is good withpeople, kids, and other dogs. She will lay on the couch with you or sit/lay on the ground next to you and watch TV. She's still active for a 9 year old and can jump when excited. She loves to run and havespace - though gated is best. She is leash trained, but needs the leash. I am doing research on the best place to take her because I know she can be in a loving home. I have a bed, kennel, blankets, vest, brushes, heartworm medicine and more that she will go with. Last check up date: 09/29/23, Center Hill Animal Clinic , Reason for rehome: newborn is allergic If you would like to meet or know more about Brie, please contact her owners at carlton95moore@hotmail.comVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 28, 2025, 5:22 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact tammybuehrer@gmail.com for more information about this pet.Chloe Update 12/10/2025   Oh, the places she’ll go! Chloe has blossomed into a wonderful little companion. She has such a lovely, bright little spirit. She is always willing to go for an adventure. Chloe celebrated her first birthday in October, so she is a “big girl” now and she wants everyone to know that she is growing up in lots of ways!   &#226&#151&#143 Good in the car while seat-belted in for her own safety. &#226&#151&#143 Still a flight risk when startled, but she is recovering much quicker these days! &#226&#151&#143 Still working on house training, she gets very distracted outside, so some supervision is required to redirect her back to her purpose. The good side is that she will come “tell” me that she needs to go outside at times, the problem is my “hearing” her requests. It is hard to determine if she is making a request to go outside or if she is just seeking attention. The signals are the same. &#226&#151&#143 Cats are questionable when outside. Chloe will give chase to my barn cats, but seems to respect them when they are inside the house. She does call off the cats relatively easily when outside, but the initial urge to chase is very much present. &#226&#151&#143 Chloe is still shy with new people, but she is warming up quicker to meeting people these days. She really likes affection and is learning to trust her humans. &#226&#151&#143 A crate is a must for Chloe. She is a big fan! &#226&#151&#143 An obedience class is a must for Chloe too. She is smart as a whip and LOVES to please her humans. She is learning a few little “tricks” and she is happy to have training time. &#226&#151&#143 One thing to note with Chloe is that she is very prone to follow the lead of other dogs. She has latched onto one of the resident dogs and follows their every move. She would benefit from a home with a very benign dog that doesn’t give Chloe much attention or a single dog home. She would rather follow the dogs lead than mine when in the pack. When I have Chloe away from this particular dog, Chloe is willing and able to follow my lead. I think an obedience class will solidify her bond with her forever handler and this problem will resolve.   To sum it all up, Chloe is a happy, playful, affectionate little gal who happens to be a very cautious when meeting new people. She loves her toy box and will rifle through to find just the right toy. She likes all kinds of toys, squeaky toys she will kill the squeaker in 5 seconds flat, she loves a good chew toy and she will bounce around the house all on her own with a ball. She is not a big fan of playing fetch, she would rather just chase the dog who is chasing the ball. She has never played fetch independently while in foster care. She is a big fan of treat puzzles! She has been challenged with several different types and she is quick to figure out how to get her dinner out of the puzzle. Chloe has gained a great amount of self-confidence while in foster and I believe that she will continue to gain a stronger sense of self once she is in her furever home with her people.   Chloe is being fostered in Onondaga, MI Please contact tammybuehrer@gmail.com if you have any questions about Chloe.  You can complete an application to adopt Chloe or any of the dogs on our website at www.comebyebcrescue.org .    ***  The potential adopter will get a refund on the Application Fee if it’s determined by the Foster Parent that it’s not a good match for the dog and the dog for them, if we do not process their application.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 11, 2025, 7:42 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ernie is a 4 year old Border Collie who was found stray when he was approximately 2 1/2 years old and was adopted by the persons who found him.  However, Ernie is not comfortable with the young child in the home, and his owners want to find him a forever home where he will not be around young children.  If you want more information about Ernie, please e-mail his owner at kaitstanley@gmail.com. Ernie is a larger BC at 55 pounds, and has good house manners, rides nicely in the car, and likes his crate.  He is fine with other dogs; it is not known how he would react to cats.  As mentioned, small children make him anxious and he displays a variant of herding behavior that includes nipping.   This nipping is likely a sign of stress and Ernie would do well with an experienced BC owner who could address this stress and the nipping behavior.  Ernie has nipped a friend of the family in what could be considered a bite:  skin was not broken, but Ernie needs to learn behaviors that do not involve his use of teeth.  He is intelligent, active, and trainable.  His owners say this about Ernie: Ernie is a wonderful dog who loves to play with other dogs and snuggle. He is energetic but tires out with exercise, a visit to the dog park, or a walk. He loves routine and appreciates consistent walks every day. He does very well with his commands and doesn't mind spending time in his crate or going on car rides. Ernie does have strong herding/nipping behavior and, unfortunately, it seems that he exhibits more of this with small children. If you can offer Ernie a home without small children, he has the potential to be a wonderful companion.  Please contact his owner at the above e-mail.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 11, 2024, 8:56 pm

Story
We'd love for you to meet Abby. She is the smartest girl ever. Abby knows sit, come, stay, lay down, speak and shake with her right paw and left paw! If you have time to teach her, we're sure there isn't any behavior she couldn't learn. Let's talk about the best things about Abby...she is so relational. The more she trusts you, the more she knows you, the more over-the-moon for you she is when she sees you. It is amazing to see her go from being scared and untrusting to having entire body wiggles and wanting to be close to you. Her ideal home would be with someone who has experience with herding dogs as well as sensitive dogs. A slow pace when getting to know others is the perfect way to set her up for success. A calm, introverted home environment is just what Abby is looking for. A few of her favorite things to do are going for walks, going for car rides, snuggling and running. She also has a great nose on her and we think she'd be one awesome snufflemat inspector! We are still learning what Abby thinks about other furry friends and we can update soon! She may be happiest if it is just her in the home with her people that she trusts. She asks for anyone in the home to be teenagers and older. If you are interested in adopting Abby, the first step is to email us at pets@michianapets.org. We're so excited for Abby to find her family. She is about four years old, is 53 pounds and is spayed. Please be patient while she is getting to know you. She is worth the extra effort...trust us.
