Story
Ziva is a great dog. She’s fully trained. She loves attention and chasing her ball. I got Ziva in 2025, I was to only babysit her until her old family got a new apartment where dogs cannot be at. I do love her and wish I could keep her. But I sadly can’t, she needs a good forever home. I am sad I can’t do that for her. I live in an apartment and I’m not home 24/7, so she can’t be a dog at times. I’m looking for anyone who would love and care for her, and will be okay with her diet and her needs. From her history I know she has been in multiple homes and she adjusts good. She was in 3-4 abusive homes before mine. Ziva is a phenomenal dog who just needs a forever home. I hope someone will want to love her just like how I do.

Meet Louise!Louise, 3 years old, Spayed Female, Border Collie mix.If you are looking for a velcro dog, Louise is your girl. This gorgeous pup is a nervous soul, but once she bonds with someone and builds trust she is YOURS. Louise seems non-reactive to other dogs but would probably do best with other low key dogs. We don't know how she is with cats, but can be tested. If you are looking for a sweet girl, Louise is waiting.Visit our website to fill out the adoption application: https://bit.ly/HSofMacombadoptionapplicationIf your application was approved and you received a call back from the Humane Society of Macomb for a meet and greet, plan to take the animal home that day. We cannot place puppies/dogs on hold to come pick up for another day.All Humane Society of Macomb animals are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, tested and microchipped.Thank you for showing an interest in our pets. We can never guarantee the breeds of the animals. We do not DNA test. Please feel free to call us with any questions.

Story
Meet Pythagoras! SEE STRAYCATION UPDATE BELOW! NEEDS FULL-TIME FOSTER! This 50-pound border collie/husky mix is five years old and is as wonderful as they come! You don't have to be a math whiz to realize how special this boy is! Pythagoras is back at the kennel after enjoying some much needed time away in a foster home. We we are excited to share all we've learned about this amazing boy. House-trained & crate-trained, he aims to please! Pythagoras lived with a feline friend and he may have the capacity to live with a dog-savvy cat that can hold their own. He loves other dogs and we feel another playful pup in the home would be best for him. A canine companion that can provide an outlet for his energy would be a dream for this dynamic dude. Handsome and attentive, this boy is the whole package. Pythagoras enjoys his time outdoors where you can witness his curious, playful side. A large, fenced-in yard where he can run is a must for him. He rides well in the car, is good on leash, and is ready to hit the town with you! Check out his outing video! Pythagoras will make an excellent travel pal and hiking buddy! Pythagoras already knows how to sit and is a fan of all sorts of treats. He knows a few different commands and is highly trainable. Pythogoras loves all sorts of toys and would benefit from food puzzles and other toys providing mental stimulation. Keeping him engaged is key to keeping him a happy boy! His foster family had no issues taking food or toys away. Of course Pythagoras also has a sensitive side and loves to be close to his people. You'll often find him nuzzled up on a comfy chair next to his people where he proceeds to give the best kisses! He'll never pass up a belly rub and is a very connecting boy. He also does well in the bath. Pythagoras with thrive in an active home with lots of daily exercise, continued training with boundaries, and a yard to enjoy. Border collie experience is required. At the end of the day, he sleeps quietly through the night and will curl up with you in bed if allowed. Based on our evaluation, we feel Pythagoras would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages 16 and up. Another social dog in the home is required and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think he could be the pup for you, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our playful Pythagoras!
