We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! Story
Meet Cache! SEE STRAYCATION UPDATE! This one-year-old collie mix is about as charming as they come! He's 50 pounds and could be the snuggle buddy you've been searching for! Before arriving at GLDR, Cache spent some time in a foster home where he was an excellent house guest. He got along very well with the other pup in the home and would make a wonderful pal for your family fur baby! He's already crate-trained and is good on his leash as well. Cache is a gentle boy who is most motivated by affection. He appreciates a nice chest rub and will lean in close to show his appreciation for the attention. If you let him, he'll happily park himself right on your lap to soak all the love you have to give. Cache is also food-motivated and will sit nicely for his tasty treats. Based on our evaluation, we feel Cache will do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages five and up. We feel he has the potential to live in a home with other animals as he did so in his past foster home. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think he could be the guy for you, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our congenial Cache!
