Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ALGONQUIN hails from Fort Severn, a Northern community and came south with his 5 siblings, Yamaska, Arisaig, Makwa, Banff & Kokanee (they’re known as the Provincial Parks Litter) and she came south to find her forever home. He’s had *1 set of puppy vaccines, a microchip, “Interceptor Plus” dewormer and has been deemed a healthy boy by his Vet. We actually have a video showing both parents and mum looks like a medium sized Collie/Old English Sheepdog and his dad possibly a large sized black Lab/Border Collie/Shepherd. We do also see Newfoundlander breed in the litter so we do expect him to be a large breed dog. He comes from a community with many stray dogs so he no doubt has many different breeds in him that are not as notable as well. He’s a very placid, laid back, gentle little fella who loves his humans almost as much as he loves taking naps. He loves to play in his fenced-in yard and will happily chase his siblings around in it. He’s well socialized with people and will excitedly run up to greet them with a wagging tail. He loves his snuggles and will happily curl up in your lap to get lots of them.  ALGONQUIN is a happy-go-lucky, playful puppy who’s full of curiosity and is just learning what squeaky toys are all about and he’s always startled when one of his favourites actually has a squeaky in it. He’s fostered with 2 of his sisters and they are quite bossy to him. They will take his kibble if they’re not watched at meal times so he now gets fed in the crate so he can eat in peace. The funny thing is that when he sees his meal being prepared, he runs into his crate and patiently waits for his bowl of kibble. With his lovely personality and good nature he’s ready to find his forever home where he can continue to thrive and grow. ALGONQUIN has just started his crate training and he’s picking up on it very quickly as he’s one smart little guy. He’s only just started going out for his bathroom breaks so be’a just starting to understand that’s the place to do his business. He’s not going out for walks just yet seeing as he’s not vaccinated enough but he is wearing a collar and harness while on a leash so be can be walked around the back yard. Due to teething, he’s at a chewing stage and needs lots of chewy toys to satisfy that urge not to chew on anything that he shouldn’t. He really loves to chew on a Nyla bone to keep those little teeth busy too. He’s starting to learn a couple of basic commands already such as “sit” for his meals and take treats “gentle.” ALGONQUIN would love an active family who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and will take him on adventures with them. He travels well in a vehicle and will just rest in his crate and quietly enjoy being driven around. He isn’t fostered with a dog but if there’s one in the home then they should be chill and placid like he is and they’d be fine putting up with puppy antics. He’s fostered with two older puppies and they love to chase and play with him. He would suit being with another dog in the home as long as they quiet and chill just like he is and definitely not a dominant dog. He can be an only dog as long as he’s not left alone for long periods at a time. He hasn't met a cat but seeing as he’s just a puppy and with a slow, monitored introduction they should do well together. He requires a fenced-in yard so he can run around and play safely so he wouldn’t suit being in an apartment and that’s also due to the size we think he’ll grow to be. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be gentle, loving and caring towards animals.  ALGONQUIN, like all puppies is a cute, playful and fun puppy but he’ll require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We need his adopter to commit to signing him up for puppy training/obedience classes so he can be the most well behaved puppy possible. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and his potential adopter must be in agreement to have him neuter performed by the time he’s 9 months of age or 60lbs (whichever comes first.) It will either be at the Rescue’s vet’s clinic or be at the Barrie SPCA. You do have the option to use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it at the SPCA. However, her spay will still have to be performed in the above timeframe for the reimbursement and we’ll need a copy of the procedure invoice and an updated photo of him (preferably in a cone after the surgery.) We use the photo on our fb page along with other animals that were spay/neutered that same week. If ALGONQUIN sounds like he’d suit your home and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet him. It should be noted that puppies personalities can change daily/weekly as their little brains develop. We try to keep our puppy postings as up-to-date as possible but due to their development, it’s not always possible to note 100% accurate behavioural information.  * He’ll receive his second vaccine and it will be covered by his adoption fee.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 22, 2026, 9:52 pm

Story
Meet Bairn, an energetic and enthusiastic dog in search of an active, confident owner. Bairn has a zest for life and loves to stay busy, whether it’s going for runs, long walks, swimming, or cuddling with his favorite people. He thrives on learning new things and is a quick learner—definitely a smart cookie! Bairn is reactive to new people, other dogs, and some vehicles, so he will need to be walked with a muzzle as a precaution. However, his reactivity can be managed with consistent training, energy-draining activities, keeping a safe distance from triggers, and positive reinforcement for good behavior. When his mind is engaged and his energy is properly channeled, Bairn is much more balanced and in control. This wonderful boy will need a dedicated owner who is committed to continuing his training and giving him the structure he needs. While Bairn may not be immediately friendly with new people, he just needs time and slow, controlled introductions to build trust. Once he bonds with you, he’ll show you his goofy, lovable side. Bairn is looking for a home with a fully fenced yard, where he can thrive in a calm and structured environment. He would do best in a home without small children or other dogs. With patience and understanding, Bairn will prove to be the best companion you could ask for!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.BOURNVILLE hails from a Southern community in Ontario and came into the rescue with her 3 siblings, Milky Bar, Galaxy and Dairy Milk. They came into Rescue on the Easter weekend so they received the litter name of the  “Chocolate Litter and this cute girl is now looking for her forever home. She’s spayed, had her 3 sets of puppy vaccines including a Rabies shot, a microchip, “Interceptor Plus” dewormer and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We do have a picture of her mum and she looks like a Border Collie/Bully mix but we have no info on dad. Seeing as she comes from a community with lots of stray dogs she no doubt has many different breeds in her and they could additionally include Shepherd, Black Lab and even Husky. We also have no idea on the size she’ll grow to be so the size we have in this post is just a guess. We’re definitely looking for an adopter for her who has Bully breed experience. She’s a very loving, happy girl and that little tail of hers is always wagging. She really loves to socialize with people but she may be a bit apprehensive of someone at first but she soon comes around when left alone and will eventually go and greet them on her own terms. her happy personality and loving nature she’ll be a great asset to a dog loving home. She absolutely loves the water and she’ll happily go in the lake with a doggie life vest on. She’s just an all round great little dog who deserves to be with her forever family and we’re quite baffled as to why that hasn’t happened yet.  BOURNVILLE is sweet, playful and full of curiosity plus she has a shy side to her when she meets new people. Her foster finds that she reacts best to strangers when they don’t approach her as soon as they see her but rather leave her be and she’ll come over to them in her own time. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body but she is simply apprehensive about meeting strangers. Once she knows warms up to you then you have a friend for life who will always greet you with her happy tail wagging disposition. This lovely girl likes nothing better than to spend time outside playing in her fenced-in yard. When her playtime is over she’s all about the cuddles and she’ll happily curl up in your lap for some quality nap time. With her happy, gentle disposition and loving nature she’s ready to find her forever home where she can continue to thrive and grow. BOURNVILLE is 100% crate trained and picked up on that very quickly as she’s a very smart girl. She’ll sleep quietly in it at night and she has free access to it during the day so will often take her naps in there. She also has her own dog bed that she’ll lay on throughout the day and she’ll sit on it to chew her bone. She’s now fully housetrained and will let you know when she needs to go outside for a bathroom break. She loves to go for walks and is taken out hiking fairly regularly. She has met several friendly dogs on her walks and she’s a bit reserved at first but soon relaxes and has been able to greet them nicely. She just loves to go in the lake at the cottage and she happily goes in with a doggie life vest on. Due to teething, she’s at a chewing stage and needs lots of chewy toys to keep those little teeth busy. She’s really good with the basic commands and will “sit” for her meals and treats and to take them “gentle.” BOURNVILLE’s ideal family would be a quiet but active one who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and will take her on adventures with them. Ideally someone would be home with her for most of the day as she loves to be around her people. She really loves to go in a vehicle and will just rest in her crate and quietly enjoy being driven around. There is a resident large female dog in her foster home and they get along great together. She’s met many of our other foster dogs at the events we’ve held and she’s loved them all from puppies to full adults. So we feel she would best suit a home with another dog but they would need to be calm and gentle just like she is in order to thrive. She met a cat for the first time and she just lay on the floor and was nose-to-nose with her wanting to engage in play. The cat has CH so is a special needs one and her foster really felt that she understood that and so didn’t push too hard to interact with her her but instead just lay there with her. We do always recommend that a slow, monitored introduction be made with a cat while the puppy is on a leash for initial meetings. She needs a fenced-in yard so she can safely run around and play and children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be gentle, loving and caring towards animals.  BOURNVILLE was previously adopted out at around 10 weeks of age but after 3 weeks and through no fault of her own, she was returned to the rescue. She really wasn’t thriving in the home and there seemed to be a lot of expectations put on her little shoulders. Training for her wasn’t prioritized and it’s clearly stated in all of our puppy adoption posts that we do require our puppies (and dogs) to receive training and this is what we put on: like all puppies, BOURNVILLE is a cute, playful and fun puppy but she’ll also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We need her adopter to commit to signing her up for puppy training/obedience classes so she can be the most well behaved puppy possible. It’s also so her adopter can learn how to communicate and understand her which will lead to a mutual respect and a thriving relationship steeped in communication with each other.  If BOURNVILLE sounds like she’d suit your home and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her. It should be noted that puppies personalities can change daily/weekly as their little brains develop. We try to keep our puppy postings as up-to-date as possible but due to their development, it’s not always possible to note 100% accurate behavioural information. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 22, 2026, 9:52 pm
