Story
Meet Bairn, an energetic and enthusiastic dog in search of an active, confident owner. Bairn has a zest for life and loves to stay busy, whether it’s going for runs, long walks, swimming, or cuddling with his favorite people. He thrives on learning new things and is a quick learner—definitely a smart cookie! Bairn is reactive to new people, other dogs, and some vehicles, so he will need to be walked with a muzzle as a precaution. However, his reactivity can be managed with consistent training, energy-draining activities, keeping a safe distance from triggers, and positive reinforcement for good behavior. When his mind is engaged and his energy is properly channeled, Bairn is much more balanced and in control. This wonderful boy will need a dedicated owner who is committed to continuing his training and giving him the structure he needs. While Bairn may not be immediately friendly with new people, he just needs time and slow, controlled introductions to build trust. Once he bonds with you, he’ll show you his goofy, lovable side. Bairn is looking for a home with a fully fenced yard, where he can thrive in a calm and structured environment. He would do best in a home without small children or other dogs. With patience and understanding, Bairn will prove to be the best companion you could ask for!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.BOURNVILLE hails from a Southern community in Ontario and came into the rescue with her 3 siblings, Milky Bar, Galaxy and Dairy Milk. They came into Rescue on the Easter weekend so they received the litter name of the  “Chocolates’s” and this cute girl is now looking for her forever home. She’s had her 2 sets of puppy vaccines, a microchip, “Interceptor Plus” dewormer and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We do have a picture of her mum and she looks like a Border Collie mix but we have no info on dad. Seeing as she comes from a community with lots of stray dogs she no doubt has many different breeds in her and they could additionally include Shepherd, Black Lab and even Husky. We also have no idea on the size she’ll grow to be so the size we have in this post is just a guess. She really loves to socialize with people and run up to them with her tail just a wagging to greet them. With her happy personality and loving  BOURNVILLE is sweet, playful and full of curiosity. This lovely girl loves to spend time outside playing in her fenced-in yard. When her playtime is over she’s all about the cuddles and she’ll happily curl up in your lap for some quality nap time. With her happy personality and loving nature she’s ready to find her forever home where she can continue to thrive and grow. BOURNVILLE is crate trained and picked up on that very quickly as she’s a very smart girl. She’ll sleep quietly in it at night but in the day she does like to sleep on her dog bed. She’s doing really well with her house training and is just starting to let you know she needs to go outside for a bathroom break. She loves to go for walks and she’s now almost up to doing 30 minutes at a time. She has met several friendly dogs on her walks and she’s a bit reserved at first but soon relaxes and has been able to greet them nicely. Due to teething, she’s at a chewing stage and needs lots of chewy toys to satisfy that urge not to chew on anything that she shouldn’t. She really loves to chew on a Nyla bone to keep those little teeth busy too. She’s starting to learn a couple of basic commands already such as “sit” for her meals and treats and to take them “gentle.” BOURNVILLE’s ideal family would be a quiet one and one who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and will take her on adventures with them. Ideally someone would be home with her for most of the day as she loves to be around her people. She really loves to go in a vehicle and will just rest in her crate and quietly enjoy being driven around. There’s not a dog or a cat in her foster home so if there’s either in her new home then they should be dog savvy and we always recommend that a slow, monitored introduction be made between them while the puppy is on a leash for initial meetings. She needs a fenced-in yard and children should be aged 10yrs and up plus be gentle, loving and caring towards animals.  BOURNVILLE was adopted but after 3 weeks she was returned to the rescue and we feel it was through no fault of her own. When meeting new people she needs her space. If you try to approach her with hands out she’ll back up and try to leave the area and/or hide behind her ‘safe person.’ The safest way to approach her is by following the ‘no touch, no talk and no eye contact’ rule to avoid triggering a flight or fight response. She has successfully met groups of people with this technique and when she was ready, she approached each person on her own and had a good sniff and then said ‘hello.’  She is wary of tall men and offers a small grumble initially to express her concern but with the same approach as already mentioned, she quickly relaxes.  BOURNVILLE, like all puppies is cute, playful and a fun puppy but she’ll also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We need her adopter to commit to sign her up for puppy training/obedience classes so she can be the most well behaved puppy possible. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spay performed by the time she’s 6 months of age. It will either be at our vet’s office or be at the Barrie SPCA. You do have the option to use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. However her spay will still have to be performed in the above timeframe for the reimbursement and we’ll need a copy of the procedure invoice and an updated photo of her (preferably in a onsie or cone after the surgery.) The photo will be put on our fb page along with other animals that were spay/neutered that same week. If BOURNVILLE sounds like she’d suit your home and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her. It should be noted that puppies personalities can change daily/weekly as their little brains develop. We try to keep our puppy postings as up-to-date as possible but due to their development, it’s not always possible to note 100% accurate behavioural information. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 30, 2026, 8:26 am

Story
Meet Aesop – A Tiny Survivor with a Big Personality   Approximately 3 Months Old Female (Not yet) Border Collie Mix 5.5kg | 33cm shoulder height   Aesop’s story began in a shelter after her Border Collie mother was brought in while pregnant in February. Sadly, out of three puppies born at the shelter, only one survived — little Aesop. Despite such a difficult beginning, she has grown into a bright, affectionate, and confident puppy full of life and love.   ‍‍ Social with People Aesop is an incredibly social and people-loving puppy. She happily approaches both familiar people and strangers, enjoys affection from everyone, and easily allows handling. She loves both men and women, enjoys being picked up, and will even roll over to show her belly to people she has just met.   Social with Other Dogs She is equally friendly with other dogs and loves to greet and play with everyone she meets. Even large dogs don’t intimidate her — she confidently bounces right in to play! She may act fearless with other dogs, but when playing with her mom, she quickly rolls over belly-up like the sweetest little daughter.   Cats Her reaction to cats has not yet been observed, but cat testing can be arranged.   Energy Level Aesop has a typical puppy energy level. She enjoys running around and playing, but also sleeps a lot and settles down nicely after activity.   Walks She has not yet had formal walks outdoors due to her young age.   Other Notes No food guarding toward people or other dogs Calm and quiet inside a kennel/crate Currently uses both pee pads indoors and pottys outdoors   She does show some mild separation anxiety at first and may bark when initially left alone, though she typically begins adjusting after a few days. Continued training and gradual independence practice will help her build confidence.   Like many smart puppies, Aesop can also be a little vocal when she wants something!   Aesop is looking for a loving family ready to guide a smart, social, and affectionate puppy through all the adventures of growing up. With her confidence, sweetness, and resilient spirit, she is sure to become an amazing lifelong companion. Story
Hi, I’m Misty 💛 I’m a 3-year-old girl, a Border Collie–Samoyed mix, and I weigh about 17kg. People often notice my soft, fluffy coat first… but my favorite little charm? One of my ears folds slightly—it’s my special signature look 😊 I was rescued from a shelter where my time was almost up, but you wouldn’t know it if you met me. I’m bright, happy, and full of love. I really love people. Even if we’ve just met, I’ll come right up to you like we’ve known each other forever. I love attention, I love affection, and I love sharing little moments together. I’m also great with other dogs! I get along well with my furry friends and don’t like conflict—I’d much rather play and enjoy good company. If you like going on walks or playing together, I’ll be so happy. And after we’ve had our fun? I’m just as happy to rest quietly by your side. I have a nice balance of energy—I can be active, but I also know how to relax at home. I’m still learning what it means to live in a home. Things like potty habits and house rules might be new to me, but I’m a smart girl (that Border Collie side of me helps!), and I learn quickly when someone is patient and consistent with me. I don’t need perfection. I don’t need everything to be ready from the start. I just need someone who will understand me, teach me gently, and stay by my side as I learn. Because I’m already ready to love you. All I’m waiting for… is a family who will love me back, and give me a place to finally belong. Will you be family? 💛
