Story
Bailey was discovered wandering alone, with no one coming forward to claim her, ultimately leading her to become a cherished member of the Fraternity. Presently, Bailey is lovingly fostered by the family who found her, integrating seamlessly into their home. She's an exceptionally gentle soul, harmoniously coexisting with the family's other pets, including cats and dogs. Bailey is swiftly mastering the art of indicating when she needs to venture outside for a bathroom break and is making great strides in her crate training regimen. Unfortunately, Bailey, like many dogs, suffers from an allergy to fleas, which resulted in significant loss of fur on her back. However, after a visit to the veterinarian and starting treatment with Nexguard, her fur is now rejuvenating and filling in splendidly! Bailey is eagerly awaiting her forever home and is currently up for adoption. Additionally, we offer a unique foster-to-adopt option for those looking to slowly transition into pet ownership. Should you have any inquiries or wish to arrange a meeting with Bailey, please don't hesitate to reach out to us via email.

All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! Story
Leo is an silly playful male Border Collie mix that was born in April 2017. He loves to run, go on car rides and cuddle. He enjoys being with people and is a good fit for older children. Leo is already housebroken and would enjoy having a fenced in backyard. A privacy fence would be best. Leo prefers the company of big dogs over little ones. If you own another dog, we can do a meet and greet to see if they are compatible. Kitties, unfortunately, are not a good fit. Due to a genetic skin disorder, Leo must take medication every other day. For a wonderful dog like Leo, it is a small price to pay. Leo is anxious to have a family of his own. Will that be you?To adopt this pet, please go to hsnwga.org, 'Adoption' then 'Application for Adoption', to complete an online application to be preapproved. Due to the high volume of applications received, our Adoption Coordinator will only contact the applicant that best meets the needs of the pet.

Story
Tucker was 4 months old, abandoned in the woods with his 2 siblings. They were starving, covered in fleas. His brother and sister were homed together soon after. We kept Tucker. We made a mistake in keeping him. We can't meet his needs. As a 9 month old border collie mix his energy is very high. He needs more space than we have to run around and he needs lots of mental stimulation. Tucker is a beautiful, smart, trainable, healthy, strong dog. He needs someone who knows border collies, who has the energy and will spend time training him.

These pups are in Chattanooga, Tennessee too!

Story
Batman is an extremely nervous dog and would not even let us pet him or get near him for many months after adopting him 4yrs ago. I have been working with him and he has made much improvement but definitely would need a patient owner willing to slowly work with him to get over his fears. He now will come up to people and allow people to pet him. He also loves cuddling on the bed. He loves dogs more than he loves people and will learn from them and a home with another dog would be best for him. He also gets along great with cats and kids who are able to respect his space when he asks for it. He is still fearful of being leashed (though we have been working on that), jumping in cars, and being picked up so a fenced in yard is a must as walks are tricky. I have been able to crate train him and he must be crated at night due to waking up in a panic at the slightest noise. He only shows aggression when cornered or picked up. Even then, he will bare his teeth and warning nips before biting.

Story
Unfortunately, due to allergy/living reasons, we need to rehome our beloved heeler-mix, Loki (male / neutered / almost 6 years old). He enjoys all kinds of activities like walking/hiking, wading in the water, tug-o-war, herding/chasing/being chased by people/kids/other dogs, general zoomiez, playing with/chasing balls, roughing around/wrestling, and bringing you random sticks/twigs he’s found. But also enjoys just lounging around, laying/napping in the sun, chewing on a good big bone for hours, sitting by a camp fire, cuddling, etc. For the last few years, he has been living under the same roof as 1 other dog, two cats, and a newborn-to-toddler with no issues. He’s a great non-picky eater; he will eat just about ANYTHING, even fruits/vegetables. I enjoyed raising him as a single guy for the first 2-3 years, but he would also make for a great family or farm dog. Located in Chattanooga, TN. Transportation can be arranged if necessary. Minimal rehome fee.

Found as a young puppy and has been great in every way. Just needs more attention that I can’t provide at the moment. Also a single pet home wouldn’t hurt.
