Story
Crosby - unclaimed stray from city pound now available for adoption. This social guy will require a securely fenced yard and will likely benefit from lots of interaction with his adopter. He has nice leash manners and knows "sit, come, down." Crosby rides well in a car. Appears to be house-trained and kennel-trained, is very chill in the house and loves being with his people. He absolutely needs to be in a cat-free environment and most likely no small animals including small dogs and chickens as he has a strong prey drive. To make an appointment to meet Crosby complete the online adoption application at www.denisonanimalwelfaregroup.org/adopt $75 adoption fee includes neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations and microchip. He tested POS for heartworms, completed his treatment through the DAWG program and has now had two consecutive NEG tests. Like all dogs in this area he will need to stay on heartworm prevention for life.

Story
My name is Bert (1070715) and I love toys!!! I would love nothing more than to have my own family, especially one that might want to buy me some of my own toys! I am a really sweet and handsome 4 year old Border Collie/Labrador Retriever mix and I’ve heard people say that there is soooo much of me to love.   I’m not exactly sure what that means, but that sounds like a good thing! I already know SIT and I enjoy yummy treats, so you could probably teach me another cool thing or two. I sure can’t wait to get to my new home!   Let’s meet soon and see if I might be the boy for you!      Check out all our animals on the links below! Story
Do you like big, soft, fluffy, gentle Border Collies who love to snuggle, chase birds, guard your home from pesky squirrels and trash trucks, and plays well with other dogs? How about a floofy BC who has never met a stranger, loves to go on walks and car rides, and doesn't even mind going to the vet or groomer? If you answered "YES!" to even one of these questions, you've come to the right rescue! If you answered "YES!" to ALL of these questions, then you have found your wonder dog! ME! My name is Chip (well, that's what the shelter called me but I don't think that's my real name). I am a 1+ year old BC neutered boy who is Heartworm Negative, very healthy, up to date on all vaccines, and weigh a perfect 60 pounds. I do still need a little training in a few areas. I have a great recall at mealtime, or when I WANT to come; otherwise I pretend I'm deaf so I can stay focused on the bird or squirrel or blowing leaf or whatever has my extremely well-honed focus! That's one area I need you to help me with. Another is learning I don't have to protect every window and door with mighty intensity. I have nice house manners, never making a mistake inside. I eat in my crate and jump in there happily for meals and snacks. I can stay in my crate when you're away until I earn house privileges. I sleep in the same room as my Human Friend and never disturb her sleep until it's time to get up, then I gently nudge her with my nose until she gives in!! I'm still pretty young and sometimes think ALL the toys are mine. I'm learning to share but may need some more guidance from you and my doggy siblings. I LOVE to be outside (but only if you're home to monitor me and help me make good decisions) so a nice big yard to explore, with trees for my bird and squirrel friends, and plenty of room to run would be a great home for me. Having dog friends at home would be perfect. Little children would not be a good fit for me, even if they are used to big dogs. I don't really know the full extent of my bigness. I've never been around cats; I'm gentle so it may be ok BUT I also love to chase smaller animals so I may not be a good fit for cat homes. I am not a super high energy BC like some of our friends. I don't need to run miles and miles every day but I do need some good exercise and plenty to keep my very smart brain active and busy. If I sound like your next forever best friend, please fill out an application at BCRRT.COM. I'm waiting to meet you!

Story
I’m Mr. Bojangles, but I'm mostly called Bo. I’m a 44 pound Border Collie, and putting on needed weight. Foster Mom thinks I spent most of my life as an outside dog, although I am housebroken. I like air conditioning and regular meals, both are new to me! Being with you is my favorite! I want to be with you ALL the time. Foster Mom is focusing on skills she says a Faithful Shadow needs. I’m learning Come, Wait, Off, Go on (move away and stay out of the way), and getting out of the way. This last was tough at the beginning because I didn’t walk well, and couldn’t move backwards at all. My hindquarters were weak. After more than a month of having food every day, a big back yard, and other dogs to follow around, I can trot with a spring in my step. I don’t jump into the car yet. I’m still working on walking backward and moving away. Why would I walk away from you? I may be a little clingy at first, so you may have to be extra patient until I feel safe in your home. We have no idea how old I am. Vet estimates have covered a wide range but we think around 10. I am now neutered and had my teeth cleaned (and one removed - I feel so much better!) My eyes look a bit odd because I have small eyeballs. The vets say this doesn’t mean much. I don’t see as well out of my left eye as I used to but my vision is not a problem for my new life! My coat has been trimmed all over, and I should have a fine rough coat by the fall. I do think thunder turns the floor to lava. Unlike most dogs, I try to climb the nearest surface to hide from thunder, it really freaks me out. I now take Sileo and I am much better. If you have to leave the house during bad weather, a strong crate may be best for me. I also like to dig. You may have to help me know where it is ok to have this kind of fun! I’m okay with other dogs, and I looooove the cat! I like to wash her head, and she lets me do it. My Foster Mom says when I have strong hind legs again, she thinks I may be good at things like helping my owner get up after a fall, and fetching, that I am Border Collie Smart, and enjoy learning — after all, when you’re teaching me things, I have your attention! I hope I sound like your forever friend! Please fill out an application at BCRRT.COM to adopt me!

Story
Sweetie is a small, beautiful, wicked smart Border Collie Mix. She has learned sit, stay, outside, dinner time and how to use a dog door in just a matter of weeks. She came to me 9/10/2023 with her brother Buddy and have been a joy to help grow and learn. She's still all legs and tail with the wonder and energy of a puppy, she loves to be loved, she wants to please and get pets and love. She is calm in a crate, and sleeps through the night quietly. Sweetie has been a trooper, she weathered her first set of Puppy shots beautifully, she has her micro-chip and is still a little young so she hasn't been spayed yet. Sweetie would do well with an older dog to teach her how to be a proper dog. She would be ok as an only dog as long as she gets plenty of attention, play, and training. She is a bit of velcro dog and will follow you everywhere. She will need all the standard puppy good manner training. She enjoys playing fetch and is learning to bring the ball back! If you would like to meet Sweetie, please apply at BCRRT.COM

Story
Buddy is a small, handsom Border Collie Mix. He has learned sit, stay, outside, dinner time and how to use a dog door in just a matter of weeks. He came to me 9/10/2023 with his sister Sweetie and have been a joy to help grow and learn. He's all legs and tail with the wonder and energy of a puppy, he loves to be outside and will stay out for long periods of time. He loves all his toys and his sister's toys as well, he will almost fetch (still working on bring it back), and will play until you can't any more. He is learning to chew on appropriate chew toys (not his sister, plants or furniture). He is eager to learn and when he learns a new skill he has it down like he's been doing it his whole life. Buddy would do great in a home with a child or another dog as he loves, loves, loves to play and chase. Buddy was a champ at the vet, he took his shots like a pro, has his micro-chip and is a bit young so not neutered yet. If you would like to meet Buddy, please apply at BCRRT.COM
