Chase first entered our program when he was only a few months old and weighed about 10 pounds. He had been dumped in Grimes County alongside his mom and four siblings. Every one of them was malnourished, severely dehydrated, and suffering from painful skin infections.They received the care they desperately needed, and Chase was eventually adopted. Unfortunately, just a few months later, he was returned to us—now nearly a year old and about 50 pounds heavier.Chase came back with some…well, trust issues. But he is officially in his healing era, and he is working incredibly hard to prepare for the family who will finally choose him for good. ❤️‍🩹Now a stunning 60-pound German Shepherd mix, Chase is the perfect combination of athletic energy and gentle sensitivity. Like a classic shepherd, he is intelligent, eager to please, active, and happiest when he has a job to do. He would make an incredible hiking, running, fetch, or adventure partner for someone who enjoys staying active.Underneath all that energy is a soft, sensitive boy who is still building his confidence. New situations, unfamiliar noises, and ordinary objects can sometimes feel intimidating to him. Chase needs a patient, encouraging person who will use positive reinforcement to remind him that he is safe—and that he really is a good boy.Watching him conquer something that once frightened him, whether it is a noisy trash can, an unfamiliar staircase, or a new environment, is one of the most rewarding experiences. Every little victory helps Chase become braver.Chase also loves having large canine friends. He is social and playful with dogs his own size and feels most secure with a confident, large-breed companion who can show him the ropes.Chase is not looking for someone who expects perfection on day one. Karson is a sweet, playful Border Collie who is about 2½ years old. I adopted him from a shelter in Baton Rouge, and he has brought so much love into my life. He loves running, spending time outside, and cuddling after an active day. With my busy schedule as a student-athlete, I’m struggling to give him the time and attention he deserves. This is a difficult decision, but I want to find him a loving home that can provide regular exercise, consistent training, and plenty of affection. Karson can be adopted with his sister, Luna, who is also listed on my profile. They are best buddies, and I would love for them to stay together. He deserves a family that has the time to help him thrive and will love him as much as I do.

Story

Luna came into my life when I adopted her from a shelter at around 4 months old. She is such a sweet, loving dog with a huge personality. She is very cuddly and affectionate, but she also has lots of energy and loves to play, explore, and be around people. Luna does have seizures, but they are managed and can be controlled with her medication. She is great with kids, cats, other dogs, and people in general. She has such a loving personality and really enjoys being part of a family. Luna is especially close with her brother/best friend, Karson, who is also listed on my profile. They are best buddies and love being together, so it would be amazing if they could be adopted together. This is a very difficult decision for me because I love Luna so much. Unfortunately, my schedule has become very busy, and I am no longer able to give her the amount of time, attention, exercise, and consistency that she deserves. I want her to find a loving home where she can get plenty of attention.

Shiner is a handsome 5-year-old Mini Aussie with a brilliant brain, excellent manners, and enough herding-dog personality to keep life interesting. He’s fully vetted and looking for a very specific kind of home — because while Shiner is an amazing dog, city living and a busy household simply aren’t his thing. This boy is incredibly well trained. Shiner knows sit, down, stay, and “go to bed,” has fantastic house manners, is kennel trained, walks beautifully on leash, and absolutely loves going for car rides. He does wonderfully with dogs both big and small and has peacefully ignored the cats in his foster home. Like many Aussies, though, Shiner has a strong herding drive and is very aware of everything happening around him. New people entering the home, children, loud noises, cars going by, and lots of activity can quickly become overwhelming for him. When he’s overstimulated, Shiner’s response is primarily reactivity and barking — not aggression. He likes to keep tabs on his surroundings and has no problem announcing when something feels different. Because of that, Shiner would not be a good fit for an apartment, shared-wall townhouse, busy neighborhood, or home with young children. Too much constant stimulation would keep him on edge instead of allowing him to settle and enjoy life. Shiner’s dream? Honestly, probably retirement without actually being retired. 😂 We picture him happiest with an older or quieter adult household, a securely fenced backyard with plenty of room, a more rural or low-traffic setting, and relatively few visitors. Give this guy his people, his yard, a predictable routine, some enrichment, and another friendly dog or two, and we think he’ll be in heaven. He doesn’t need a home that wants to “fix” who he is. He needs people who understand herding breeds and can give him an environment where his nervous system doesn’t have to be switched on all day long. Shiner also has a professional training evaluation scheduled next week, which will help us learn even more about what makes him tick and give his future family additional guidance for helping him succeed. He’s smart. He’s loyal. He’s trained. He’s quirky. He’s got opinions. And somewhere out there is a quiet little piece of property where Shiner is going to think he hit the absolute jackpot. ❤️

I went on dog day out! Here`s what my volunteer said:`Batty was so amazing! I was absolutely in love with her! She was so incredibly sweet and so loving! I spend every second with her and missed her as soon as I returned Batty! I have never met a dog so good at loading in and out of a car! She walked so good on the lease and never pulled with me! She was the perfect dog for a family who is outgoing and likes the outdoors! She spent majority of our time playing games together and when I was tired we took a great nap lol! In conclusion, anyone would be lucky enough to adopt Batty! She was one of the best dogs I have ever met! Plus she was so pretty!``Very sweet dog, good temperment. Walked well on lease. Still has some puppy (energy) in her.`

Kai is a sweet and gentle girl that was dumped in the country and found by a Good Samaritan who brought her to our rescue. Kai appears to have been someone's pet as she has good manners and is eager to please. Kai is a medium sized dog and would do well in any type of home. She thrives on attention and is incredibly friendly to everyone she's met. We feel she would do well in any type of home and would be an amazing addition to any family! Kai is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and heartworm negative so she's ready to find her loving forever home! Please contact our rescue if you are interested in adopting or fostering. We will schedule a day/time for you to meet our adoptable animals first. If you decide to adopt or foster, we will provide an application to be approved. Once approved, an adoption or foster contract is signed. If you are fostering, you will be provided with all necessary items for the pet (food, bowls, crate, collar, leash, etc.). If adopting, we require an adoption fee that covers a portion of the cost of veterinary care. This is fully refundable for the life of the pet should the adoption fall through at any point. We will always take our pets back regardless of the situation.
