Story
Hi, Im Earl Grey! Im a smart, athletic guy with a big heart and a playful spirit. I love chasing tennis balls, squeaky toys, and soaking up every minute of outdoor time (especially if it includes a belly rub in the middle of a walk!). Ive got plenty of energy and enthusiasm, and Im hoping to find an active home where I can be your go-to adventure buddy.

Id do best in a home thats a bit more low-key-one without too much hustle and bustle, and with adults or older teens who understand dogs like me. Im not a fan of cats, and I prefer more one-on-one time with my people rather than busy dog parks.

If youre an experienced, dog-savvy person looking for a fun, devoted companion, I think we could be a perfect match. I cant wait to find my person.

Earl Grey qualifies for our Patient Paws special. Youll be able to name your own adoption fee!

Earl Grey qualifies for a fee waived adoption through Bohdis 30 in 30 through June 30!

Story
Meet Coco! Coco is a beautiful 2-year-old purebred Border Collie weighing approximately 35 pounds. This spayed female is everything people love about the breed—intelligent, energetic, affectionate, eager to please, and always ready for her next adventure. Coco's world changed recently after the loss of her beloved dad. He purchased her as a puppy, and the two shared a special bond. Due to his disability, Coco had limited opportunities for socializing with other dogs and experiences beyond the backyard. Walks around the neighborhood, beside her dad in his scooter, were her main source of activity while he was still able to get out. To fill her time, pushing a basketball around became her favorite source of self entertainment and an effective outlet for her energy and herding instincts. In fact, she loves her basketball so much that she can be a little obsessed with it! Despite her limited exposure to the world, Coco has proven to be incredibly smart, adaptable and people-loving dog. She is currently staying with a family friend and embracing lots of new experiences with enthusiasm. In just a couple of days, she has learned to fetch, walk politely on a leash, come when called, sit on command, and wait at doorways. Even better, she has discovered that swimming is absolutely the bomb! Coco loves people and bonds quickly. Because she has had limited interaction with children though, though, a home with older, dog-savvy children—or adults only—would be the best fit. Like many dogs who missed out on early socialization opportunities, Coco can be fearful around other dogs. She will thrive as an only dog, where she can soak up all the attention. However, with her intelligence, loving . personality, trainability, and the guidance of an experienced owner to help her build confidence, she could likely learn to really enjoy canine companionship. Coco is looking for an active home that understands the Border Collie breed and can provide the exercise, mental stimulation, training, and companionship she craves. Given the opportunity, this bright, loving girl is guaranteed to blossom into an amazing partner for hiking, dog sports, swimming, training, and everyday adventures. If you're searching for a loyal companion with endless potential, Coco is calling you. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, dewormed, and on monthly heartworm and flea/tick meds. Coco is located in Washington NC, but is spending time with a friend of the owner and can be reached at lamblady.anne@gmail.com for more information.

Story
Fred is approximately 3–4 years old, weighs about 50lbs. He's a Tricolor Border Collie mix, neutered and fully house trained. His energy level is moderate — playful outside, calm indoors. Fred is a sensitive, sweet, emotionally intuitive herding-breed mix who forms deep, meaningful bonds with the people he trusts. Once he feels safe, he becomes affectionate, playful, gentle, quirky, connected, and eager to be near his person. He settles well in the home, often resting at your feet or choosing a comfortable nearby spot. He likes being close but is not clingy; he simply enjoys companionship from a place of safety. Fred thrives with calm, predictable handling, gentle voices, and slow movements that give him space to build trust at his own pace. Fred is highly sensitive and easily overwhelmed by unfamiliar people, sudden movement into his space, loud or chaotic environments, and unpredictability. He needs slow introductions, time to observe, soft tones, gentle body language, consistent routines, and a peaceful, stable environment. With these supports, he warms up beautifully and becomes affectionate, expressive, and securely attached. Fred has fear-based reactivity, not true aggression. When overwhelmed, he may growl, snap, air-bite, or lunge if he feels cornered or pressured. With proper introductions and calm interactions, these behaviors reduce significantly or disappear. Fred has significant separation and isolation anxiety. When left alone, he may pace, bark, whine, pant excessively, drool excessively, become restless, or struggle to settle. Despite this distress, he has never been destructive and does not soil indoors. He needs gradual alone-time training, consistency, predictability, a low-stress environment, and possibly a calm dog companion. Fred plays well with other dogs, adjusts his energy appropriately, relaxes around calm dogs, gains confidence from a steady canine companion, and checks in frequently with his person. On leash, he may show mild reactivity at close ranges but redirects well. Off leash he is appropriate, social, and not aggressive. Fred is an excellent walking companion with good leash manners and strong impulse control. He calmly observes deer and responds immediately to cues. Indoors, Fred is calm, quiet, and relaxed. He settles easily and is not clingy or demanding. He is an easy, gentle house companion. His strengths are: affectionate once bonded, gentle with treats, excellent with calm dogs, responsive to cues, calm in the car, playful outdoors, mellow indoors, emotionally attuned, intelligent and sensitive, checks in often, settles beautifully after exercise Fred has some challenges which includes fear-based reactivity, significant separation anxiety, environmental sensitivity, and need for slow introductions. Fred thrives with someone experienced, patient, and consistent, who can support gradual alone-time training and provide a stable environment. Fred is loving, sensitive, intelligent, and deeply loyal when he feels safe. As with herding breeds we suggest a home with no toddlers! He shows immense heart and tries hard to do well. He's looking for a family that will work with him,, he will show you he is worth it! If you would like more information about Fred or are interested in adopting you can email bolten.diane@gmail.com or fill out a application below.

Story
At just five months old, Freckles in ready to jump into his next big adventure…a forever home! This sweet little mixed-breed love bug is truly thriving in his foster home, where he's been busy wrestling, tugging, and playing with a big pack of dog friends that live there; and, getting tutored by hid foster mom. But, he is ready for a family of his very own—one where he can soak up all the love and be the center of attention. Freckles thinks he is the handsomest dog in her mom's pack—and her foster mom tends to agree! Just look at those big, beautiful ears, athletic build, and that stunning coat… I mean, come on!” Freckles is a family dream dog. He has a moderate energy level, is accepting of cats; loves people and adores other dogs. He is playful, intelligent and fun and will make a stellar addition to any home environment. He knows basic commands, is leash and crate trained. He is also a self entertainer - when everybody else is taking a break he will play by himself, and at the same time, keep you amused with his solitary, comedic antics. Freckles is comfortable staying in a crate when his foster mom is out running errands. At night, though, he much prefers snuggling up close in bed — sometimes even sneaking in a kiss. He’s also a fantastic traveler, happily relaxing in his crate during rides...many of which have been long distance! He’s mastered going potty at the rest areas while on a leash, and he's proud of it! He would make a fantastic traveling companion! So, what's Freckles’ dream home? A place with a nice size fenced yard, lots of playtime, another dog buddy, and, most of all, a devoted human who’s ready for a spirited, spunky and fun canine best friend. Freckles is being fostered by the Atlantic Region Central Border Collie Rescue near Lamar, SC. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, negative for heartworm, microchipped, and on monthly preventative meds. So, what are you waiting for? Freckles is ready to pack his bags and head home with you!
