Story
PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - RILEY BREED - Border Collie mix SIZE - About 70 pounds AGE - 2 years GENDER - Male MEDICAL CONCERNS - None known BEHAVIOR CONCERNS - None known SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Riley is a fun-loving happy dog that is a joy to be around! He is a big guy, just over 70 pounds at a healthy weight. Not only is Riley a great looking dog, he is super sweet and very playful. Given his size, he will be best suited to a home with active adopters capable of handling large dogs. Riley is learning good leash manners and is eager to please. Physical and mental exercise is good for dogs like him. He is in good health, neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. A perfect dog deserves a perfect home! So we are seeking a home with an active adopter who has the ability to work from home or be at home the majority of the day to spend time with this amazing dog! A home with a fenced, secure yard will give him room to run and play securely. Riley is not well suited to small children or smaller dogs who could be upset by his enthusiasm, but will fit nicely into many other homes. Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of the dog and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and the dog at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting the dog and determining that it matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner. Story
Friendly Finn is a lucky dog.  You know one of those who was in a really bad shelter that was run by lazy people who didn’t care if any of the dogs got out alive.  He is a handsome and very friendly Border Collie/Pointer mix that is truly a good looking dog who is about 3 years old, fully vetted, 35 pounds and was at the shelter for 2 years.  TRUTH!   How awful that this beautiful soul was there in that dirty place and in the tiny kennel run with another dog. He wasn’t fed much and he is lucky to have survived the torture of that specific shelter.   Friendly is a good word for Finn since he is good with other dogs and kids unknown.  He is surprisingly very good on a leash, but his nerves can get the best of him when riding in a car.  He might need a little medication till he gets used to riding.  Finn needs a big yard or maybe daily trips to a dog park.  We want him to live a life that is not limited as he has experienced these past 2+ years in the shelter.  If you are interested in Fostering or Adopting Finn please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 11, 2024, 12:11 pm

Story
Kenzie is a beautiful young, 2 year old example of a stunning Border Collie that is in need of the right home that understands her specialness as a breed. This girl is only 40 pounds and still very much a puppy in her body and soul.  She loves to play in water, like a plastic kiddie pool that is easy to have in the backyard and she is always absorbing new things to learn.  This 40 pound girl is great with other dogs, cats (lived in one) and she is still in her herding mode and young children would not be recommended.  Older children are fine if they understand her herding tendencies.  Kenzie is housebroken, crate trained and is needing a strong leader and family that loves who she is as a breed and willing to take the time to shape and mold her.  She is a stunning dog in manners and personality.   We love Kenzie and she promises to be more than you could ever want in life as a family companion.  Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 11, 2024, 12:11 pm

Story
Meet Oofa, aka Goofs. Goofs is a much more appropriate name for this little guy because he has so much personality. He’s around 2 years old, neutered, crate trained and great with dogs. He has yet to meet a dog he doesn’t become fast friends with. Male, female, big, small, doesn’t matter. He’ll wrestle with them all. Cats, no. He’ll wrestle a cat a little too hard. Goofs loves his people and is very cuddly and social. He loves to grab a ball and chomp on it near you and growl. He’s very particular with people and is not a social dog outside the house. He growls at strangers and will nip if not introduced properly. Therefore, a house with few people and even fewer guests is best. If Goofs had his way, he would love to live on a farm or hobby with sheep. Herding days are the best days ever and great for mental exercise with him. He loves to herd and right now is learning how to do so and be a gentleman about it. He doesn’t quite give space like he should and still nips occasionally but is progressing after just a few lessons. A person that will continue this with him will get the highest priority for adoption. Overall, he’s an extremely fun guy but he needs to find the right people. You will need to have experience with behavior and be willing to work with a trainer on his stranger danger and confidence in public. Small children will not be good for him. He will also require a fence as he has extremely high prey drive and if he sees something he’s gone. Goofs is being fostered in Newport News VA. If you would like more information on Goofs you can email mcclellanka@gmail.com

Story
Hi, I’m Candace, a beautiful and energetic Border Collie mix. I’m 9 months old, 50 pounds, and black and white in color. I’m looking for my forever home where I can be your loyal and fun companion. I’m a friendly and playful girl who loves the water. I’m house, crate, and leash trained, and I’m ready to go on adventures with you. I’m spayed, vaccinated, and heartworm negative, so I’m healthy and happy. My rescue is not sure of my breed, but their best guess is Border Collie mix. I’m good with children and other dogs, but I don’t like cats. I have good puppy energy and I would do best with an active family. I was saved just in time from euthanasia at Memphis Animal Services. Now I am looking for a forever family of my own. If you’re looking for a loyal and fun companion, I’m your girl. I am being fostered in Crab Orchard, Kentucky but can be transported to other states for the right family. If you are interested in adopting me, please feel out an application today! I can’t wait to meet you.

Story
Hello, my name is Merlin and I’m here to sweep you off your feet. I’m a dashing Border Collie mix with a striking white and black coat. At 2-3 years old and around 40 pounds, I’m the perfect blend of brains and brawn. My captivating blue eyes will have you falling head over paws! I’m a high-energy guy, always ready for an adventure. Whether it’s chasing a ball, exploring the great outdoors, or learning new tricks, count me in! I’m super smart and a quick learner – especially if treats are involved. I’m not just about playtime; I’m a cuddler too! Belly rubs? Yes, please! I thrive on human attention and will happily sit in your lap – even if I’m a bit bigger than your average lap dog. Now, let’s talk about my quirks. I’m not a fan of crates – they cramp my style. And watch out for your ankles – my herding instincts kick in, and I might try a playful nip. But fear not! With some guidance, I’ll learn what’s appropriate. I’ve been in boarding because of my escape artist skills (I’m like Houdini with fences!). But what I really want is a family to call my own. Maybe you’re the one? Let’s embark on this beautiful journey together! I am selective with other dogs. I have not been cat-tested but I can be if you’d like. I am vaccinated and neutered. I am also heartworm positive and receiving treatment. Currently hanging out in Lewisville, NC, but I can be transported for the right match. Are you up for Merlin’s adventure? Let’s find out. Fill out an application today! *Must be 21 or older to apply.
