Story
Born approx. June 2020, Edwinn is a male Border Collie. He came to us afraid of the outside world and lacking confidence. He has made marked improvements in his foster home and is now ready to find his forever family. Edwinn is potty and crate trained. He is happiest when he is with his people and other dogs, for this reason, we will require Edwinn goes to a home with another confident dog to continue giving him guidance and reassurance. We also are seeking a cat free home for him. Edwinn's forever home must have a secure 6 foot fence and one that will keep him active and mentally stimulated, breed experience is a huge bonus. Edwinn will do best in a home with adults or adults and kids over 5. Applications: www.mikeyschance.com

Story
Connor is ready for a home of his own! This boy is was born December 2018 and is a Border Collie mix. Connor struggles with insecurities and has a hard time meeting new people-but let me tell you that once you’ve made his “friends list” it’s for life! He will never let you down or leave you alone 😂😂 Connor would do well with a confident canine companion but would also be fine as an only dog. While he currently lives with dog savvy cats, he may not do well with new feline friends. Connor is not a dog that will ever enjoy going to dog parks, outdoor eateries, etc. That's not his scene. He prefers being with his family at home. He's an introvert's dream dog! 😉 He needs a calmer home with structure and routine, for this reason, a home without young children is best. Connor is potty, leash, and crate trained. He is still working on basic commands like sit, down, etc. He loves chew toys and treats. He will play tug-o-war but hasn't mastered fetch. We do require home ownership and a 6 foot fenced yard-no children under age 10. Applications: www.mikeyschance.com

Story
Meet Winnie, a one-year-old Staffie/Border Collie mix weighing 33 pounds.Winnie is the kind of dog who makes people smile the moment she trots into a room, tail wagging, ready for fun, affection, or a full-speed zoomie session across the yard. Fun thing about her is a sibling of hers was actually DNA tested so we are fairly confident she has these two breeds in her (among others), although they are likely at different percentages than her sibling.Winnie was originally adopted from us as a puppy and was recently returned due to her chasing the family’s cat. Because of this, she will need a cat-free home or very careful, experienced management with small animals. She has a strong playful drive and may not be suited for homes with small pets. She is friendly, outgoing, and full of energy. Winnie LOVES to play, especially with other playful dogs, and she thrives in environments where she has appropriate outlets for her enthusiasm. Her zoomies are legendary, and she brings a fun, lighthearted energy wherever she goes.Like many young, active dogs, Winnie is still polishing her manners. She can be a bit mouthy when excited and will benefit from continued basic training and consistent guidance. The good news is she already has a strong foundation — she is potty trained and was crated at night in her previous home, showing she can adapt well to structure and routine. As a brindle beauty with a goofy underbite, Winnie is as striking as she is entertaining. She’ll do best in a home that appreciates her playful spirit, is ready to continue her training, and can give her the exercise and engagement she craves. With the right structure and outlets, Winnie has all the makings of a loyal, fun, and very loving companion. This pet is available for adoption on 5.8.26 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Skinny, a one-year-old Border Collie/Husky mix weighing 63 pounds.Skinny is a gentle soul who’s ready for a fresh start. Skinny was found as a stray after spending about a week on the run before animal control was finally able to bring him to safety. Since arriving, he has shown himself to be a very sweet boy, though the world is still a little overwhelming for him right now.Everything seems new to Skinny, and while he can be nervous in unfamiliar situations, he truly wants to please and looks to people for reassurance. Despite likely having very little experience before coming in, he has already surprised everyone by walking nicely on a leash and trying his best to learn.Skinny will thrive in a patient, caring home that can give him the time, love, and socialization he needs to build confidence. With some TLC, gentle guidance, and consistency, this sweet boy has all the potential to become a loyal and loving companion. This pet is available for adoption on 5/24/2026 3:22 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Sagemoor (also known as "Sage")! This gorgeous girl was born approximately May 3, 2021 and our best guess to breed is a Brittany Spaniel possibly Border Collie mix. She was found by a Franklin County Sheriff dumped out near Columbia River Rd in Pasco WA. An amazing volunteer went to get to her. While initially hesitant, she was eventually leashed and loaded into the car heading for a new life! She has spent time at Mattox Dog Training Academy and is ready to find her forever family! Sage is a VERY active dog, if you are a runner /hiker avid outdoor person, she’s your girl. She loves to run and get her zoomies out and is very obedient - eager to please! She will take a bit to warm up to new people but her love is deep once she does. She is the absolute best cuddle buddy, the sofa is her preferred cuddle zone. Sage will do well as an only dog or with other canine companions - she seems to prefer males. Her best fit home will be one with adults or adults and kids over the age of 8, and one with a fully fenced yard. Apply for Sage at www.mikeyschance.com
