Meet Huckleberry! He is a Border Terrier Mix that is looking for a forever home. This lover-boy requires a tall fence (privacy fence preferred). Huck does well with kids (10 years and over) and loves to lounge with his humans. He is a very smart dog and has already had some professional training sessions and knows several commands. Huckleberry is house trained and crate trained, and up to date on Heartworm and vaccinations. Huck needs to be the only dog in the home.

Story
Meet Maimee 💕 Maimee is a 4-year-old Cairn Terrier with a brave heart and a gentle soul. She’s been through more than any dog ever should, yet she continues to move forward with quiet resilience and grace. Found in an abandoned trailer with her two sons after their owners were incarcerated, Maimee survived harsh conditions without water or electricity in the summer heat. Tragically, Maimee and one of her sons were later struck by a car and sustained injuries. Thanks to the care of a rural shelter and the team at Melissa’s Second Chances, Maimee received the medical attention she needed and has been steadily healing ever since. This strong little mama had surgery to remove her damaged right eye and is fully recovered. Maimee is dog-friendly and would do best with another calm, social dog who doesn’t mind letting her take the lead. She is not suited for a home with cats. Because of the trauma she’s endured, Maimee will thrive in a quiet, low-traffic home with consistent family members and minimal visitors. She prefers to approach people on her own terms rather than being reached for, and once she feels safe, her true sweetness begins to shine. Building trust is important to her—and when she bonds, she bonds deeply. Because of her past, Maimee takes a bit more time to warm up to males. However, Maimee has successfully bonded to her foster dad and done well when moving at her pace. Despite everything she’s been through, Maimee has the softest heart and is still learning that the world can be kind. She’s the kind of dog who becomes a true “soul dog” for the right person—someone patient, gentle, and willing to let her heal at her own pace. Maimee is ready for a fresh start filled with safety, understanding, and love. 💛 She is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program, which allows you to get to know her in your home before finalizing adoption—an ideal option for a dog who needs time to feel secure. ---------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. An approved application is required before we can schedule a meet & greet. Once approved, we’ll work with you to ensure it’s a great fit—and if it’s not, no worries!
