Story
6-9 months, 38 lbs and probably not much bigger. Ideal work-from-home companion, ESA animal or family pet. This sweet girl has an unconditional trust of every human she meets. We found her starving, stinking like skunk and covered in bugs on the side of the road. She came right to us without hesitation. After everything she had been through she is still fully convinced that every human is her new bestie. After a bath, her first meal in weeks and sleeping for two days her personality began to sparkle through. She LOVES to cuddle on the couch and curl up next to a sleeping human, particularly kids. She has a puppy love of chewing but is gentle with her mouth around humans. If an adult is on the computer she is content to curl up on a bed beneath the desk. Around familiar dogs she is playful, submissive and defers to her elders without drama. But she is often intimidated by new dogs and will bark at them. Heartworm positive, will need treatment.

Story
Benny was found running the streets in a stray dog pack in the Rio Grande Valley. When he first came here, he was fearful around men and could be a bully to new dogs, but he's come a long way since then. Once he gets to know you, he's a sweet, funny, playful dog who wants to be with you as much as possible. Benny was initially cat-aggressive, but he's been around cats for several months and has grown used to them. He mostly ignores them but sometimes chases them. He can be around cats, but should not be left alone with them. (I kennel him when we leave.) Benny gets along well with most female dogs, but he can be dominant towards male dogs. He shows some resource guarding of both food and people and seems to want to "defend" his people from other dogs. That doesn't mean he can't get along with other dogs or other male dogs, but he needs to be introduced to other dogs carefully. The same can be true for introducing him to new people---he needs some time to build trust. Someone who is willing to take time and socialize Benny with other people and animals would be a great adopter. Benny is a great dog who really wants to please. He is loving, affectionate, and playful.

Story
Lulu is a 8‑month‑old, 21‑pound Boston Terrier mix with the softest eyes and the gentlest little heart. She may be shy when meeting new people, but once she feels safe, she blossoms into the sweetest, most affectionate girl. She is especially shy with men, so she'll do best in a home with only a female or a very patient man. She’s spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines, and heartworm negative. Lulu is kennel trained and making great progress with her potty training — she’s almost got it down. Lulu gets along wonderfully with other dogs but is cat pesky and discovered it's fun to chase them. So, she would be most successful in a cat free home. Because she gains confidence from canine friends, she’ll thrive in a home with another playful, friendly dog who can show her the ropes. If you’re looking for a tender, gentle companion who will reward your patience with endless love, Lulu might be your perfect match. Story
Meet Scrappy – Your Loyal, Playful Sidekick! Scrappy is an adorable 8-year-young pup with the perfect mix of smarts, playfulness, and cuddly charm. Don’t let his age fool you—he’s full of energy and always up for an adventure, whether it’s a walk around the neighborhood, zoomies in a fenced yard, or a road trip (he’s the best passenger and snoozes calmly the whole ride!). This sweet boy has a wonderful training foundation—he knows sit, is working on “lay,” waits patiently at mealtime, and is crate and muzzle trained. He’s eager to keep learning and thrives with structure. Scrappy is also a toy enthusiast who especially loves squeaky toys, fetch (for a few fun tosses), and playtime that keeps his mind engaged. Scrappy gets along beautifully with other dogs and would love to have a canine buddy or two to hang out with. With his dog friends, he’s playful, polite, and happy to just be part of the pack. At home, Scrappy is affectionate, calm, and loves to be by your side. He’s a champion snuggler who will happily share the bed if you let him, and he’ll melt your heart with belly rub requests and sweet kisses. He’s not a big barker and has a cheerful, happy-go-lucky vibe that makes every day brighter. Scrappy would do best in a home with a yard where he can stretch his legs and play, and he’s looking for an adopter who appreciates his loyal, protective nature and will give him a little time to build trust with new people. Once you’re in his circle, he’ll shower you with love, loyalty, and playful energy for life. Scrappy is such a special dog—funny, loving, smart, and full of heart. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who will keep you smiling and make your days brighter, Scrappy just might be your perfect match.

Story
Estella is a soulful, sensitive girl who bonds deeply with her person. She has settled beautifully into a home environment and thrives with predictability, gentle handling, and a calm pace of life. She loves leisurely walks, long naps, and showing off her tricks for treats (those puppy eyes are hard to resist!). She adores squeaky toys and is very gentle when she plays. She’s more “walk and nap” than high-energy. Estella would do best in an adult-only home with a calm, low-traffic environment. She needs a family who understands dog body language and respects her boundaries. She communicates clearly when she’s uncomfortable, so she’ll do best with someone who listens and responds with patience. Estella will flourish with someone patient, attuned, and ready to offer a peaceful home!
