Story
Benny was found running the streets in a stray dog pack in the Rio Grande Valley. When he first came here, he was fearful around men and could be a bully to new dogs, but he's come a long way since then. Once he gets to know you, he's a sweet, funny, playful dog who wants to be with you as much as possible. Benny was initially cat-aggressive, but he's been around cats for several months and has grown used to them. He mostly ignores them but sometimes chases them. He can be around cats, but should not be left alone with them. (I kennel him when we leave.) Benny gets along well with most female dogs, but he can be dominant towards male dogs. He shows some resource guarding of both food and people and seems to want to "defend" his people from other dogs. That doesn't mean he can't get along with other dogs or other male dogs, but he needs to be introduced to other dogs carefully. The same can be true for introducing him to new people---he needs some time to build trust. Someone who is willing to take time and socialize Benny with other people and animals would be a great adopter. Benny is a great dog who really wants to please. He is loving, affectionate, and playful.

With a Blue Heeler dad and a 10 pound Cairn Terrier mix mom, he’s expected to stay on the smaller side but brings a big personality wherever he goes. Tonka and his sibling were found on the side of the road, but you’d never guess it from his happy, loving spirit. He’s curious, smart, and already showing that loyal Heeler side, while still being a cuddly little terrier who loves attention. Tonka enjoys playing, exploring, and then crashing in your lap when he’s worn out. He would do great in a home ready for a fun, affectionate puppy that will grow into a devoted companion. Meet Licorice 🖤 - a sweet 4-yr old black “Toto-style” dog w/ the most adorable soulful 👀 + a 💜 that loves everyone he meets. He’s the Walmart greeter type — friendly, social, & happy to make new friends. He gets along wonderfully with both dogs + cats. I rescued Licorice from the Williamson County Animal Shelter. He and his sister were abandoned together. Sadly, they were later separated. Licorice is resilient and loving. He would do best with: * Another friendly dog to play with * Frequent walks and interaction * A work from home family, retiree, or family looking for the perfect second dog * A yard where he can explore and enjoy life Licorice is affectionate, gentle, and has a calm, loving temperament. This decision breaks my heart because he is deeply loved. I work long hours and want him to have the fullest, happiest life with more play, companionship, and daily connection than I can currently provide. Maybe you’re the right fit for this sweet boy 🖤🐾
