Story
Meet Vinny 🤍 Vinny was saved just in time from a Texas shelter by a rural rescue partner. He remained in foster care, but this sweet boy wasn’t getting the exposure he needed to find a home. Now he is at Melissa's Second Chances and ready for his second chance. Vinny is a friendly, affectionate doodle with that typical mix of playful energy and loyalty. He enjoys being around people and does well with other large dogs with proper introductions. Vinny prefers dog friends that are around his size, so no small dogs (dogs < 25lbs) for this guy! Vinny is also cat friendly making him a perfect fit for many different homes. He is house trained, kennel trained, and overall has a solid foundation in a home. Like many dogs, he’s still working on some leash reactivity and can get overstimulated when he sees other dogs on walks at a distance. He will need an adopter who can continue working with him and provide consistency. But Vinny is incredibly affectionate and smart as well as eager to please. Vinny will require a secure 6 ft fence, as he has been known to jump shorter fences. He would do best in a home with a family that understands that his breed has need for structure, exercise, and regular grooming. Vinny is kid friendly- making him the perfect addition to any family! Vinny is an incredibly sweet dog and we know someone is going to hit the jackpot bringing this guy into their forever family. ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
👑✨ Meet Jax: Your Little Prince in Curls ✨👑 Please note: Jax is a truly wonderful dog, but after spending his life being used for breeding, he has some specific needs. We are committed to finding him a home that isn’t just a fit — but his forever. Highlights: ✅ Dog, cat, and kid friendly ✅ Best suited for a calm home (think retired couple or low-key household, he would not thrive with a young busy family) ✅ Needs patience with potty training + confidence building Once upon a time, an 8-year-old, 21-pound Miniature Poodle named Jax was ready to leave his past behind and find his happily ever after. This handsome little gentleman may be small, but his heart is royal-sized. Jax walks beautifully on a leash and gets along well with other dogs, does fine with cats, and is gentle and kind with kids. As a breeder surrender, Jax is still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. He may take a little time to warm up, and he’s still working on his house-training skills, but with patience and kindness, he blossoms more each day. Jax has spent so much of his life in a kennel, that he prefers the opportunity to free roam in a home. He is not destructive when left out. He does well wearing belly bands while perfecting his potty training skills. 💙 The Kind of Home Jax Needs 💙 Jax is what we lovingly call a “Velcro dog” — he bonds deeply to his person and thrives on connection, reassurance, and consistency. Because of this, he does best in a home where he can truly be a priority. While Jax is good with children and has a very gentle nature, he is not the right fit for a busy home with young kids. The noise, activity, and divided attention can be overwhelming for him. He would do best in a calm home with adults or older kids where he can get the time, structure, and attention he needs to feel safe. Visiting grandkids or occasional kiddos are totally fine! Jax will also need continued support with potty training and some mild anxiety as he adjusts. He’s not difficult — just a sensitive boy who needs someone willing to guide him and give him time to settle in. Jax truly benefits from canine companionship. While he doesn’t require someone to be home all day, he would do best with another friendly dog to help him feel safe and supported. All this sweet prince needs now is a forever kingdom to call his own — ideally with a furry sibling by his side. Multiple meet and greets are encouraged to help him build a bond and ensure the best fit. We truly believe Jax will blossom with the right person. Will you be the one to give him his happily ever after? 💙🐾 ✨ Jax is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program, so you can take time getting to know him in your home before finalizing adoption — helping ensure it’s the perfect match. ✨ ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
I am looking to find a loving new home for Jamie, a 1.5-year-old female mixed breed. I am unsure of her exact breed, but she is healthy, happy, and full of personality.Jamie is up to date on all of her vaccinations (next round due in August). She has a very sweet and affectionate nature—she loves attention, cuddles, and being around people. She is also highly energetic and would do best with an active owner or a home where she has space to play and burn off energy. She is very food- and treat-motivated, which makes her responsive and a great candidate for continued training.Included with Jamie:Metal wire kennelPlastic covered kennelBag of food to help her transitionA few toysCollar and leashI am asking for a re-homing fee of $80 to ensure she goes to a serious and caring home. I am willing to work with you on the fee as well.Jamie deserves a home where she will get lots of love, attention, and exercise. If you think you might be a good fit or have any questions, please reach out.
