Story
Before several weeks ago, the inside of a house was like a foreign land to Willow Ivy. She didn’t know what household objects were, nor what it even meant to be inside with people. 🌎 🌎 Now, our pretty girl has experienced the good life, where she’s never too cold (or too hot), food and water are in plentiful supply, and the beds are oh-so-comfy. She has also finally imprinted with some people and is getting the hang of the idea that people are there to help her and support her. Welcome to the rest of your life, Willow Ivy! 🌎 🌎 Willow Ivy has also discovered that there’s an outdoor world beyond the confines of a pen. She loves to go on car rides and look out the window. And she totally enjoys walks along quiet neighborhood trails or parks. It has taken her a while to reach this point, and likely when she’s adopted, she’ll need time and space to arrive here again, with her furever people. What we know for sure is that she is smart and really darn sweet. She is desperate to please her people, as she balances that with learning that the world doesn’t have to be a scary place. Toys are new to her, but those squeaky ones and puzzles are pretty fun – and getting a treat from inside of a Kong is tasty and happy! She will need time, like possibly weeks, to warm up to the people in her life, but it will happen in a quiet home. She gets along with other dogs, but she still hasn’t consistently grasped how to handle her dog relationships alongside her people relationships. So, she would do best in a home with a very laid-back dog(s) who she won’t feel like she’s competing with. Or a life as an only dog would be just as well. 🐾❤️ Willow Ivy is 3 years old, and she’s a 36-pound Border Collie/Australian Cattle Dog mix. She is house trained and crate trained. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and current on heartworm preventative and flea/tick prevention. Her adoption fee is $175. Apply to adopt her, and bring your patience, and you’ll get to meet this little gem, by filling out the application at PawsitiveTailsKC.org. 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🤎🖤 APPLY @ PawsitiveTailsKC.org 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🤎🖤

Story
Meet Bert 🖤🤍 Approx. 11 months old • 48 lbs • Border Collie / Labrador mix (best guess) Bert is the kind of dog who doesn’t show you everything right away—but give him a little time, and you’ll see what a good one he is. He can be a bit timid when meeting new people, but once he settles in, he’s all about quiet snuggles and playtime with his trusted humans. He’s currently living with other dogs and does great with medium to higher-energy playmates. He’s easygoing and respectful—he’ll even let his foster sibling take toys or treats from him without any fuss. Cats? No problem. Bert lives with them and mostly just ignores them (or naps nearby). He’s house trained, working on leash skills, and prefers not to be crated. He’ll do best with a home that can give him a little patience on the front end and let him build confidence at his own pace. Bert isn’t going to be the dog that runs up to every stranger—but he will be the one who bonds deeply with his people and becomes a really solid, loyal companion. If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle dog who just needs a minute to feel safe, Bert might be your guy. All Heart of America Humane Society dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines. Adoption fee: $250 Our dogs are in foster homes across the KC metro. We do not have a shelter facility. Apply to adopt: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAUS/Dog

Story
Hi there, Im Juju - a sweet senior border collie mix with a heart thats been waiting for the right person to notice it. I may have a little gray around my muzzle, but dont let that fool you. Im still playful, curious, and always ready for a good game or a walk where I can show off how smart I am. Ive learned a lot in my years, and I love using my brain just as much as I love leaning in for affection.

Im a gentle soul who bonds deeply with my people. If youre looking for a loyal companion who will curl up beside you during your next movie marathon, Im your guy. Im happiest when Im close, soaking up the quiet moments and reminding you that youre never alone.

I can be a little selective about my doggy friends - what can I say, I know what I like - so Id love to meet any potential four-legged siblings to make sure were a good match. Once I find my circle, Im as loyal as they come.

If youre searching for a loving, wise, and still-playful friend to share your days with, come meet me. Ive been waiting for someone special, and I have a feeling it might be you.

Story
Meet Mia ❤️ Mia is a 4-year-old, 35 lb red heeler with a heart that is somehow even bigger than her story. After getting out one day, she returned home unable to use her back legs — and sadly, no medical care was sought for months. Mia had been dragging herself, leaving wounds on her back legs and living in a way no dog ever should. When Mia first arrived to us, she couldn’t walk more than a couple steps without falling. It was clear she had gone far too long without the care she deserved. And yet… Mia never stopped loving people or trying her hardest to adopt. With supportive medical care — including steroids, bladder support medications, and surgery to treat early pyometra — Mia has made incredible progress. She now has motor function and pain sensation in her back legs and can walk on her own, though she may still fall, especially when she gets tired. One leg is a bit weaker than the other, and she has some remaining neurological deficits, but she continues to adapt and improve. 💛 What life with Mia looks like Mia is not a high-energy heeler — she’s the opposite. She’s happiest lounging in the sun, curled up next to her people, or soaking up all the love she can get. She doesn’t need long walks or big adventures. She just wants you. She will need a home that understands her physical needs: • May need help getting into cars or onto higher surfaces • Can do some stairs depending on setup (may need spotting) • Should have her feet protected on rough surfaces • Occasional accidents due to bladder challenges — improving with medication, but adopters should be prepared to continue working with a vet We don’t know exactly what caused Mia’s injury, and getting definitive answers would require advanced imaging and a neurology consult. What we do know is this: she has come so far, and she’s ready to be loved exactly as she is. 💛 The perfect home for Mia • Lower-energy, patient home • Someone comfortable with a special-needs dog • No cats recommended (her heeler instincts + awkward play style) • Mia has lived in a home with kids in her previous home and in foster, but supervision is important with any real littles — she can lose balance and accidentally knock them over • Not ideal for apartments (she can be vocal if she hears a bunch of excitement outside!) 💛 A few Mia-isms (because she’s still a heeler 😂) • VERY food motivated • Will bark at outside noises, people, and passing cars • Not a fan of vacuums • Mild food guarding — easily managed by feeding separately in her crate • Sleeps great in her crate For those who have met Mia, one thing is universally agreed upon: She is pure love. She is the kind of dog who bonds deeply, who looks at you like you are her entire world, who doesn’t need perfection — just someone willing to show her the life she always deserved. Mia has already been through more than most dogs ever should. Now it’s her turn for the good part. This sweet girl deserves a chance. We know the unknowns might make you scroll on, but we promise if you meet her in person and see just how special she is, you will see just how worthy she is of a loving forever home. She will bring joy to your life, and without a doubt is the missing piece your home is looking for to be complete. Mia is eligible for our foster to adopt program, meaning you can take a couple weeks getting to know each other in your home before making it official. ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
Meet Evie 🐾 Evie is a 20 lb Australian Shepherd with a huge heart packed into a petite, fluffy package. If you’re looking for a dog who loves people — like, truly lives for them — Evie is your girl. She adores everyone she meets, from adults to kids to total strangers. Snuggles? Yes. Kisses? Absolutely. Personal space? Not really her thing — and honestly, that’s part of her charm. Evie is happiest curled up next to her people, soaking up all the love she can get. Evie already knows “sit,” is a fantastic car rider, and does great settling quietly in her kennel. She’s the kind of companion who will happily join you on errands, road trips, or cozy nights on the couch. Evie is looking for a home where she can be your one and only pet — she needs to be the only animal in the home (no other dogs). In return, she’ll give you all the love, loyalty, and affection you could ever need. If you’re ready for a best friend who will adore you endlessly, Evie is ready to meet you 💛 If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
Meet Koda ❤️ Koda is an 8-year-old red heeler mix who is incredibly smart, loyal, and looking for a very specific kind of home where he can truly thrive. Koda recently lost the only home he’s ever known because his family is growing and Koda has a tough time adjusting to the unpredictable nature of children. While that transition has been tough, he’s already starting to settle and show us who he really is. Each day, he’s becoming more relaxed and comfortable in foster care —but he will need a patient, committed adopter who understands that trust and learning a new routine takes time. The Basics • Potty trained & crate trained • Lived successfully with a small dog (mini dachshund) most of his life after a very slow and thoughtful introduction • He wants to be part of a “pack” Home Requirements Koda would do best in an adult-only home or one with older, respectful children (8+). He is not comfortable with young kids, especially if they are loud, unpredictable, or in his space. He will need slow, thoughtful introductions to other dogs, and at this time, would do best as the only dog or with a very experienced home willing to manage introductions carefully. No cats due to his prey drive. What He’s Working On Koda can be reactive on leash and in the yard, especially toward people and other dogs. He may lunge, bark, and pull, so he will need someone physically capable and committed to continuing his training. The good news? He is incredibly intelligent and already working on improving his leash manners in foster care. Breed Traits & Needs Koda is every bit the cattle dog he was born to be—smart, driven, and full of energy, even at 8 years old. He is not a “yard-only” or “couch potato” dog. A fenced yard alone won’t meet his needs. To truly thrive, Koda will need: • Daily physical exercise (hikes, walks, running) • Ongoing training and structure • Mental enrichment (puzzle toys, tasks, or a “job”) Personality Koda is a good dog with a big brain and a loyal heart. He isn’t overly cuddly, but he does show affection in his own way—whether that’s relaxing next to you on the couch or simply wanting to be near his person. He’s happiest when he has purpose and engagement. For the right person, someone who understands working breeds and is ready to invest in him, Koda has the potential to be an incredibly rewarding companion. If you’re looking for a smart, active dog and are ready to give Koda the structure and commitment he deserves, he just might be your perfect match. ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt.
