Story
Wonder is a young Boston Terrier with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He’s full of energy and always ready to play, whether it’s zooming around the yard or going for a fun walk. When playtime is over, his sweet side really shines. He loves attention, cuddles, and being close to his people. Treats are definitely the way to his heart, and they make training extra fun with him! Wonder would do great in a home that can match his lively spirit and give him lots of love, playtime, and snacks.

Story
Hi, I'm Romeo! I was brought here as a tiny puppy from a place where I was barely getting fed. I was adopted shortly after and recently got returned due to weird circumstances. I suddenly had two injuries- one was my eye which needs to be removed and the other is much more. I have a torn cruciate ligament. The shelter is currently raising money to pay for my surgery but I will need a place to stay for 6-8 weeks with cage rest so I can recover. I'm a sweet boy and get along with everyone, even livestock!  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2352756##

Story
Higgins is a 3.5-month-old Boston Terrier with a classic black-and-white tuxedo coat and a subtle brindle shimmer that glows in the sunlight. He’s a sweet, mild-tempered boy who plays hard, naps hard, and loves puzzle toys and snuffle mats. Higgins is making great progress with pottying on a routine (though he’s not a fan of cold weather) and is very food motivated. He can be a little overwhelmed in new situations at first, but once he feels safe he blossoms into a playful, affectionate cuddle bug. Because he’s small, he’ll do best with older, considerate children and a calm, loving home where he can continue building confidence. 💜 *** Go to www.pawsitiverestorations.com to learn all about our dogs, watch their silly videos, read our adoption process, and to submit an adoption application. Story
Tootsie is a 3.5-month-old Boston Terrier with a glossy black-and-white coat and subtle brindle shimmer that glows in the sun. She’s an easy-going, happy little lovebug who adores cuddles and thinks laps are premium real estate. Tootsie is a potty training champ who signals when she needs to go out (and prefers a private corner of the yard for her business). She plays nicely with dogs of all sizes, loves enrichment puzzles and snuffle mats, and isn’t a high-energy pup — she’ll play, then happily head back to her crate for a cozy nap (with ALL the blankets). Because she’s tiny, she’ll do best with older, considerate kids. *** Go to www.pawsitiverestorations.com to learn all about our dogs, watch their silly videos, read our adoption process, and to submit an adoption application. Story
Meet Precious Breed: French Bulldog Sex: Female DOB: 2/28/2024 Weight: 25 pounds Health: Healthy and safe Precious is exactly what her name says — a precious soul who was almost lost simply because someone didn’t want to try. Her previous owner considered euthanasia instead of finding her a new home. Thankfully, she was given a second chance, and now she’s ready to find the forever family she truly deserves. Despite everything, Precious is loving, trusting, and full of gentle sweetness. She didn’t let her past harden her heart. Personality Precious is affectionate, people-focused, and happiest when she’s near her humans. She has that classic Frenchie charm — playful, expressive, and full of personality. She loves attention, enjoys companionship, and thrives when she feels included. She has a soft, loving temperament and bonds deeply with her people. She’s the kind of dog who wants to curl up beside you after a fun little play session and simply be close. Breed Info: French Bulldog French Bulldogs are known for: Loyal, affectionate personalities Strong bonds with their families Playful but moderate energy levels Thriving on companionship and routine They do best in homes where they are treated as part of the family and not left alone for long stretches. Owner Responsibilities Precious will thrive with an adopter who: Provides daily companionship and affection Maintains a consistent routine Understands breed-specific care (temperature sensitivity, regular checkups) Commits to her emotionally and practically for life She deserves stability and someone who will never see her as disposable. &#226&#154&#160&#239&#184&#143 Things to Consider Before Adopting Before bringing Precious home, please consider: Is your housing stable and pet-friendly long term? Are you financially prepared for routine vet care? Do you have time for companionship and inclusion? Are you ready for a lifelong commitment — not just when it’s convenient? Precious needs someone who understands that dogs are family. Vet Care Although Precious is healthy, adopters should schedule a visit with their own veterinarian as soon as possible after adoption to establish ongoing care and ensure she continues to thrive. The 3-3-3 Rule First 3 days: Precious may be unsure as she adjusts to yet another new environment. First 3 weeks: She’ll begin to relax, learn your routine, and trust again. First 3 months: Her full loving personality will shine as she realizes she is finally home for good. Patience and consistency will mean everything to her. Why Precious Is Truly Special Precious is living proof that second chances matter. She is sweet, loving, and ready to give her whole heart to someone who chooses her forever. She didn’t deserve to be given up on — and now she’s ready for a home that will cherish her for the rest of her life. Story
Jack is a 3-4 year old Pug weighing about 16lbs.  Jack came from Mexico where he was brought to a shelter in pretty bad condition.  His eye was damaged and needed to be removed immediately.  We don't know what happened to his eye, but he has since fully recovered and is happy, healthy little guy!   Jack gets along well with other dogs and all people.  He is very snuggly and loves to follow his foster Momma around the house.  He is learning how to play with toys and is just as cute and sweet at can be. If you are interested in adopting Jack, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2668187##

Story
Ollie is a 4-5 year old Pug Mix weighing about 15lbs.  Ollie was found as a stray in South Texas and brought to an overcrowded shelter.  Unfortunately it seemed like he had been a stray for a while, and nobody ever came looking for him :(. The shelter reached out to us to see if they could transfer him to CO since they were so full and their adoption rate isn't great in that area. Ollie has been here in one of our wonderful foster homes for a little now and ready to find his forever familly.  Here is what his foster Momma has to say about him: "Ollie is a sweet and happy boy! He is full of personality and loves to play with toys. He enjoys a good cuddle too. He is always up for a car ride or adventure. Ge gets along well with other dogs, kids and cats.  Honestly he is one of the best foster dogs we have ever had.  Whoever gets this sweet boy is going to be incredibly lucky!" If you are interested in adopting Ollie, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2668194##
