Zeus would love to have a 6 foot fenced yard with room to run and play; he used to jump our 4 foot fence.  He doesn't like cats and doesn't like having his nails cut. Up to date on shots, heartworm negative, crate and house trained.  He's a great dog. Please send your phone number to learn more about Zeus. Story
Meet Nori — The Sweetest Wallflower with the Funniest Little Face Nori is a 35-pound Boston Terrier or French Bulldog mix (we think!) with a face that’s impossible not to love. With her expressive eyes and endearing underbite, Nori wears her heart on her sleeve—and on her face. At around 2–4 years old, she’s still learning how to be brave in a world that feels a little too big sometimes. Nori is a nervous girl, and new environments and people can leave her feeling unsure. But behind that timid exterior is a heart ready to bloom. She just needs the right garden—a home with patient, experienced people who understand how to gently help dogs come out of their shells. One thing that makes Nori light up? Other dogs! She absolutely thrives with a calm, confident canine companion by her side. A friendly dog sibling could be just the buddy she needs to feel safe and gain confidence. Nori may not be the dog who rushes up to greet you, but she’s the one who will quietly change your world when you earn her trust. If you're the kind of person who finds beauty in the shy ones and joy in the little milestones, Nori might be your perfect match. She’s waiting, hopeful, for someone to see past her nerves—and into her gentle, loving soul. *Reminder* We are currently facilitating adoptions through appointment only. If you arrive at the shelter without an appointment to meet a dog, we may not be able to assist you. Please call the shelter (516-869-6311) during working hours (Mon. to Fri. 9AM-4PM; Sat. 10AM-4PM) for more information about this dog, the adoption process at the shelter, and to confirm availability. Please go to www.theshelterconnection.org for more information about and directions to the shelter.

Casper is up to date on core vaccinations (age-appropriate) and is microchipped. He will be neutered prior to joining his forever home unless there is a medical reason why it has not yet been completed (in which case RDR NYC will work with the adopter to ensure this is done at the appropriate time). Casper is good with people, other dogs and even cats. This cute little guy was abandoned at a vet's office and fortunately made his way into our rescue and into our hearts! Casper is friendly and super sweet. Story
Brazos - 5 yrs, 27lbs, Boston Terrier Mix, Neutered  This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Thier Foster Parent Says: "Brazos is such a good boy! He was definitely a little freaked out by the city for the first few days and was too nervous to go to the bathroom outside. He would hold his bladder for hours and hours before having an accident inside, but after just a week and a half now, he's exclusively going potty outside without a problem! Brazos does well on the leash but can sometimes be stubborn with where he wants to go. We do one big walk in the morning (about an hour), a medium walk after work (around 30 mins) and then 2-3 potty walks in addition. He loves to go to the park and is very interested in squirrels, but is easily directed away from them. Brazos LOVES bones and bully sticks and will play fetch in the apartment with his plushies, but spends most of his day sleeping. He takes most of his naps laying belly up on the couch and he often does the cutest little barks in his sleep. Other than that, I've never heard him bark! Brazos initially had some playful curiosity about our cat, but responded well to correction from me and to hissing from the cat. He now mostly ignores and avoids her in the apartment. Brazos would make a wonderful companion to someone looking for a lowkey cuddle bug!"  Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy levelMEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Cuddle Bug LevelHigh — Wants to be in your lap pretty much all the time Potty TrainedYes — Few or no accidents - He's definitely potty trained, but was very nervous going to the bathroom outside for the first few days. I would definitely expect a few accidents during the initial transition phase but he quickly relaxed and now goes outside no problem! Jumping on People to Say Hi?Medium – Jumps up only on people the dog knows when really excited. Stops with correction. Separation Anxiety?Lower - No crying or whining, but he has chewed a few things he wasn't supposed to.  Crate training? Not at all – Don’t even have one, I’ve puppy proofed and we free range. Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Puerto Rico or Southern California. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes.
