Story
Brazos - 5 yrs, 27lbs, Boston Terrier Mix, Neutered  This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Thier Foster Parent Says: "Brazos is such a good boy! He was definitely a little freaked out by the city for the first few days and was too nervous to go to the bathroom outside. He would hold his bladder for hours and hours before having an accident inside, but after just a week and a half now, he's exclusively going potty outside without a problem! Brazos does well on the leash but can sometimes be stubborn with where he wants to go. We do one big walk in the morning (about an hour), a medium walk after work (around 30 mins) and then 2-3 potty walks in addition. He loves to go to the park and is very interested in squirrels, but is easily directed away from them. Brazos LOVES bones and bully sticks and will play fetch in the apartment with his plushies, but spends most of his day sleeping. He takes most of his naps laying belly up on the couch and he often does the cutest little barks in his sleep. Other than that, I've never heard him bark! Brazos initially had some playful curiosity about our cat, but responded well to correction from me and to hissing from the cat. He now mostly ignores and avoids her in the apartment. Brazos would make a wonderful companion to someone looking for a lowkey cuddle bug!"  Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy levelMEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Cuddle Bug LevelHigh — Wants to be in your lap pretty much all the time Potty TrainedYes — Few or no accidents - He's definitely potty trained, but was very nervous going to the bathroom outside for the first few days. I would definitely expect a few accidents during the initial transition phase but he quickly relaxed and now goes outside no problem! Jumping on People to Say Hi?Medium – Jumps up only on people the dog knows when really excited. Stops with correction. Separation Anxiety?Lower - No crying or whining, but he has chewed a few things he wasn't supposed to.  Crate training? Not at all – Don’t even have one, I’ve puppy proofed and we free range. Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Puerto Rico or Southern California. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
Frankie - 5.5 years old, Mixed Breed - Boston Terrier Mix, 30.1lbs, (needs to lose 3lbs), Spayed  Our Team Says: "Frankie needs to be in a grownup only home. Not a good fit for young kids - okay in a home with respectful older teenagers".  Her Foster Parents Say: "Frankie is an incredibly smart, sweet, and loyal dog. She is happiest curled up by your side while you're watching tv or by your feet when you are working. She wants to be with her people at all times. She is ok staying back at home if you need to leave her for 3-4 hours once in a while, but she'd be happiest with a work from home parent or someone that can bring her to work. She finds various ways to communicate, for example she'll tap her water or food bowl when she wants more food or water. She's potty trained and she will let you know when she has to go out by gently pawing at you. Her other favorite activity is playing catch with a ball or chewing on her nylabone. I always feel safe with Frankie by my side at night as she loves to protect her people. She's not a dog that will bark at any random noise, she's incredibly smart, she knows when something is "off" from a normal routine, she'll low growl or bark to let me know when there's a stranger in the stairwell in the middle of the night when they shouldn't be there, for example. Frankie does not like toddlers or young kids. She's stayed with someone who owned a cat and a parrot and got along great with them, so she's ok with other animals. However if there's another dog in the house she may not get along with them unless it's a very laid back dog." Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.) Cuddle Bug Level Higher -- Loves to be near a lap or at your feet  Potty TrainedYes -- Few or no accidents  Comfy with strangers?  Yep -- Wants to be friends with everyone who walks by, super social butterfly, loves anyone who will stop to say hello.  Comfortable with Children? (ALWAYS requires supervision) Not a great match for a home with kids -- calm teenagers and up is okay, this pup is either mouthy and rambunctious or sensitive and requires either a low key, quiet home or a grownup only home willing do training  Social with Other Dogs? Mostly -- Generally good with other dogs but may be picky (scared of big dogs or plays too rough for small dogs, for example)  Respectful of Other Animals? (cats, small pets, etc.)  Yes -- Seems to get along with other animals, either tries to play with them or is mostly uninterested  Mouthy Behavior? Low – Little to no interest in chewing on stuff or putting things in its mouth that aren’t food. Doesn’t try to chew on hands, feet, etc. during playtime, doesn’t wreck your stuff -- only chews on appropriate things like dog toys and bones.  Leash Manners? Old Pro – Seems like a dog that has been on leash before. Doesn’t pull hard or need much direction.  Okay in the city? Yes -- Seems unfazed by the sights and sounds, they may as well have been born here. Jumping on People to Say Hi? Medium – Jumps up only on people the dog knows when really excited. Stops with correction.  Separation Anxiety? Nope – Completely fine being left home alone. Doesn’t cry or do anything shitty when you leave the apartment or house.  Crate training? Not at all – Don’t even have one, I’ve puppy proofed and we free range.  Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake. She did have a knee surgery to correct her minor patella luxation last year to prevent any future problems down the line. She has no health issues now and her knees are now great: super important for her to not be overweight.  How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Puerto Rico or Southern California. Meet Moonlet!!! This little girl is so excited to start her life as someone's loved one. For her first few years of life, Moonlet was just solely used for breeding. She is now rescued, safe, and LOVING foster care. Despite her difficult past, Moonlet is the happiest girl. She is constantly looking for human affection- but mostly looking to GIVE humans affection! Moonlet prefers humans over dogs at the moment. She currently coexists fine with calm dogs, but she does not like when playful dogs get in her face. Moonlet's favorite things are giving kisses, sleeping next to/on top of her favorite human, watching tv, and happy hours. Anyone would be so lucky to adopt this special girl with such a spunky and cute personality! ##2368150##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Melodie (GA) is a female French Bulldog/English Bulldog mix estimated to be 3 years old at the time of intake in December 2024. Melodie is up to date on core vaccinations and is microchipped. She will be spayed prior to joining her forever home unless there is a medical reason why it has not yet been completed (in which case RDR NYC will work with the adopter to ensure this is done at the appropriate time). Melodie is good with people and other dogs. We found this beautiful girl in a shelter suffering with a very severe prolapse which the shelter was not equipped to treat. So we busted Melodie out of there and rushed her to our veterinary partner for immediate surgery to repair the proplapse. Melodie is now on the road to recovery. We would also like to have Melodie on the road to her forever home as soon as she is all healed up, so if you are looking for a spunky, happy, gorgeous girl to join your family, please apply online to adopt Melodie (GA) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 7, 2025, 1:13 am
