Kiki is up to date on core vaccinations (age-appropriate) and is microchipped. She will be spayed prior to joining her forever home  unless there is a medical reason why it has not yet been completed (in which case RDR NYC will work with the adopter to ensure this is done at the appropriate time).   Kiki is good with people and other dogs. We rescued Kiki from a hoarding/breeding situation where she was living in horrific conditions. Kiki was suffering from a painful skin infection but she has been treated by our veterinary partner and is well on her way to recovery. Kiki is friendly, happy and oh so cute! Story
Meet Slim, half of bonded pair of pups looking for a new home! Slim, an 11-year-old Boston Terrier, and his 9-year-old brother Shady are friendly with both dogs and cats. They walk well on a leash, are easygoing, and give the sweetest, gentle kisses. Slim is approximately 30 pounds while his little brother Shady only weighs in at a whopping 12 pounds!  Slim has heart disease and requires lifelong medication, but aside from moving at a slower pace and avoiding over-exertion, he doesn't currently need any special care. Shady, the scruffier and more outgoing of the duo, loves to play with anyone—human or canine—to keep himself entertained. These two easygoing, happy boys are ready for a loving home. If you're looking to add double the love to your life, apply today to bring home Slim and Shady!   All dogs will be altered, microchipped, and receive age-appropriate vaccines prior to adoption. Story
Meet Ella! Ella is about 18 pounds and 6 and a half months old. We are not exactly sure what breed mixes she is but we know she is the perfect supermutt! Mom looked like a Boston Terrier maybe mixed with an American Staffordshire terrier, and Dad looked like a Shih Tzu with lots of other things, maybe a Jack Russell terrier, beagle, and maybe even Cairn Terrier. She is stocky but looks like she will have short stumpy legs and may not grow past 25 to 30 pounds. Ella is your typical puppy who loves to run and play with all of her friends and is even well-acquainted with the cat! She has been working in crate training, potty training, and leash training but still needs some help with all. Interested in becoming a forever home for Ella? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws. We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Ella. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Ella the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us. For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Story
Benoit (born: 12/12/2022), weighs 23 pounds and is a French Bulldog who knows how to sit, loves to run and play with the other dogs, has fun with his toys and enjoys having a treat. Born with a congenital eye issue, Benoit had to have surgery to remove his right eye when he was just 10 weeks old and he continues to have follow-ups with an ophthalmologist for his left eye. Benoit also developed a head tilt and the neurologist has diagnosed him with Hydrocephalus and the doctor prescribed Omeprazole – which is a medication he will have to take for life. Since Benoit is still a puppy, the dose for this medication will need to be adjusted as he gains weight. Benoit is also currently on antibiotics for approximately 3 – 4 months – the antibiotics were started 11/11/2023 and after another visit with the Neurologist again on 11/26/2023 it was confirmed he will continue. Benoit is also being tapered from a steroid that the neurologist put him on when his head tilt returned post neuter and nares surgery. It is a long taper of six months and began on 10/1/2023. The head tilt corrected itself for a while but has returned. The doctor believes it is an inner ear infection. He is also due for another revisit with the ophthalmologist for an updated evaluation of the one eye he has. UPDATE 2/11/2024: Benoit has finished his course of antibiotics and he no longer has an obvious head tilt. At his last visit with the neurologist on 1/13/2024, the doctor let us know that in addition to the Omeprazole that Benoit will have to be on a low dose of steroid for life. At his last visit with the ophthalmologist on 1/4/2024, the doctor let us know that Benoit should have annual visits for his eye and that if anything seems wrong with his eye at any time, not to wait and to have it checked out right away, otherwise he could lose the one eye he has. UPDATE 3/17/2024: Benoit had Neurolgy Consult/Follow-Up with his neurologist *per the neurologist, Benoit likely has OMI (Otitis Media/Interna) with exacerbation of underlying congenital malformations *Continue Simplicef 100mg sid for total of 6 months *Continue Prednisone 2.5mg eod long-term *Continue Omeprazole sid long-term *recheck with Neurologist 5 months post starting Simplicef UPDATE 3/28/2024: with Internal Medicine and Ophthalmologist – enucleation site has oozing and the Ophthalmologist says that it can take up to and over a year to completely heal. Per the culture of the site, Internal Medicine prescribed Zenoquin (resistant to other antibiotics for this issue) for at least 2 weeks – will recheck then to see if medication needs to be given for longer. Benoit is a complicated medical case and he will need to see a neurologist and an ophthalmologist for the rest of his life. We really appreciate that you want to give a shelter animal a home. Story
Meet Wally, a 3-year-old, 27 lb Pug with a big heart and an even bigger personality! Originally from Dallas, Wally is affectionately known by many names, including "Wally the One-Eyed Pug," "One-Eyed Wally," and "Wall Fury." Despite his journey to Manhattan, Wally has adjusted beautifully and quickly embraced his new surroundings. Wally’s zest for life is infectious. He adores treats, kisses, and playtime with other pups. Currently, Wally is learning commands like “sit” and working on his obedience training. Although he can get a bit distracted, his eagerness to please shines through in every lesson. He's also proven to be quite the gentleman when it comes to house training, patiently waiting for his family to take him out, even overnight. This energetic and loving Pug is comfortable on a leash, though he's working on his tendency to pull. He definitely prefers a harness over a collar. Wally is also happy in his crate and does well when left home alone. However, this curious little guy is always up for meeting new people and dogs, often spinning in circles to get your attention. Wally is searching for a medium active family that enjoys both downtime and active moments. Whether he’s the solo star of the household or sharing his space with a fellow canine companion, Wally will thrive in a home where he can receive plenty of attention. His ideal family will be one with children or a lot of spare time, ready to embrace his unique character, delightful quirks, and boundless energy. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and spirited companion, Wally might just be your perfect match! Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Wally, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2155008##

She is a loving, happy and curious pup. She has adjusted very well during her time in Brooklyn. Chicklet enjoys snuggling, going on long walks, and taking naps.  Chicklet is working on her obedience training and learning “Sit”. During her time with her foster family, she sems to be house trained and used to the company of other humans and dogs. Chicklet is great on a leash and is very easy to walk around the city. She’s fine with cars, people and dogs and will try to smell everything she can lay her cute little nose on. Her forever family will need to continue working with Chicklet to reinforce and advance the progress she’s been making in her training. Chicklet has done well in her crate during the night and has been hanging around the apartment during the day. She does experience a little bit of separation anxiety at night but ends up falling asleep pretty quickly. She has only been left alone for very short periods of time during the day but did great each time. She loves to be cozy with her foster family and can often be found with her favorite avocado toast toy. Chicklet is looking for a loving family. She appreciates both downtime and active moments. She would be happy either with another dog or just with humans. She hasn’t been exposed to cats yet, but she seems like she does fine around anything- her only scare so far has been a roomba. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Chicklet tested positive for ehrlichia and was treated with 21 days of doxycycline. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Chicklet, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application.
