Zeus is a10 year-old Brindle Boston mix, 33 pounds of muscle, with a gentle mouth; he's a very loving guy who loves to play with dogs his size.  He's a bit energetic for smaller dogs, but played with our 10# puppy every day. Zeus would love to have a 6 foot fenced yard with room to run and play; he used to jump our 4 foot fence.  He doesn't like cats and doesn't like having his nails cut. Up to date on shots, heartworm negative, crate and house trained.  He's a great dog. Please send your phone number to learn more about Zeus. Story
Meet MJ! He is a 9yr old beagle/terrier mix. He was found as a stray in KY and ended up in a kill shelter...until we rescued him. He seems to get along with every other dog we have (incl puppies of all ages). He walks well on a leash once he gets over the excitement of being out with you. At only about 40 lbs, he is the perfect sized companion dog. MJ is very smart too and learned to sit for a treat & give his paw within 5mins. His aim is to please :) We find that he doesn't like to be without people in general but that's not to say that he likes all people and is definately picky about who he trusts. The ideal home would have someone around rather than leaving him for the workday and would have some dog training knowledge about how to handle a fear aggressive dog. We can no longer bring him to adoption events since many in the general public do not know how to read a dog's body language (he does give signs when he's uncomfortable). We would recommend a low-traffic household for sure because of the potential fear aggressive bite and someone with experience in dealing with this behavior. Our adoption fee is $325 and all of our pets come with full vet records.  All animals are up to date on vaccinations & dewormed.  Unless otherwise indicated, puppies are NOT spayed or neutered since our vet recommends waiting until 6mos of age to do so.  Please keep in mind we are a Rescue Group and most of our pups come to us with little or no background info regarding breed, eventual size, age or prior health issues. We rely on the expertise of our veterinarians and make estimates based on past experience. Also, when you're adopting from a Rescue, you should ask questions! You should always get shot/medication records and the rescue should have had the dog for a bit of time to check for disease. Take the time to educate yourself before adopting. A reputable rescue will have nothing to hide and will answer ALL your questions!!!Please visit our Web Site to see all of the pets we have for adoption. Our site contains information about our adoption process and fees, our application, and answers to frequently asked questions. Please read it carefully before contacting us. If you are interested in adopting THIS wonderful pet, we strongly encourage you to complete our adoption application now. Once we receive and approve your application, we will notify you of approval. The first application to be received and approved will get 1st choice - be sure that your references are available and willing to speak with us. Thank You Visit us at one of our next adoption days.  Details are on our site under the "How to Adopt" tab. Hope to see you there!June 13, 2026, 12:23 am

Story
NOTE:  If you are seeing this posting, she's still available :) Meet Trixie!  We were told she was born on 1/11/22.  Her mom looked to be a boston terrier mix. Trix is tipping the scales at 25lbs and is lean because she's always on the go given her age. Trixie is a very sweet girl, who just needs some basic training.  Her fosterhome has a fenced yard and since she has had minimal leash training, that works best at the moment.  She needs routine & some manners to be the perfect family pet.  Trix is up to date on all of her vaccines, is spayed and was tested for HW and tick borne diseases - all were neg.  She has the shiniest sleek black coat we've ever seen on a pup before!  She's very treat motivated and when it comes to taking commands, she's all ears LOL  Her friends are a group of adult dogs as well as a couple of young shepherd mixes that are double her size also with us.  Trixie's favorite game is fetch & she actually brings the ball back to you! Recent small breed experience is a must since they're just not for everyone & definitely not for the 1st time dog owner.  This girl would NOT do well in a city environment, so we're seeking a more rural home since that's all she knows.  If you have the time and patience to train a pup, please visit our site at endingthesadness.org & fill out an application to be considered.  Adopters must be no more than 2hrs driving distance from us.  Only older children in the home, please.June 13, 2026, 12:23 am

Story
Meet Bugsy, a 7-month-old Boston Terrier mix. She presently weighs 10 pounds and will mature to 15-20 pounds. Although she has aortic stenosis, a heart condition, you’d never know it. She has no symptoms and is just like any puppy. She is very energetic, vocal, dog friendly, and food friendly! She loves to play and run with other dogs, too! If you are tempted by this pretty girl, her foster would be more than happy to discuss her condition with you. A delightful puppy! (posted 6/9/26, ME) ' ' ' 'Adoption Fee: $395.00-- covers microchip, worming, all vaccines, monthly heart worm preventative, monthly tick/flea preventative, spaying/neutering, health certificate, and complete medical records. Transport Fee: $170.00-- We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs. **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** ' ' 'June 12, 2026, 4:33 pm

Story
Meet Buster Buster is an almost 9‑year‑old Boston Terrier (21 lbs) who is finally getting the chance to experience life beyond what he has always known. He was rescued from a commercial breeder in Lancaster, where he spent his life as a stud dog, and is now learning what comfort, kindness, and love look like. Buster is super sweet, though he can be a bit shy and timid at first. Once he feels safe, his gentle personality shines through. He allows all handling and is comfortable being picked up, making him an easy and lovable companion who just needs time and reassurance. Buster is looking for a patient, understanding home that will help him transition from his past and continue building his confidence at his own pace. He doesn’t ask for much, just a calm environment, consistent love, and someone willing to show him that his best years are still ahead. If you have a soft spot for mature dogs and believe it’s never too late for a fresh start, Buster would love to meet you. He will come neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and 4dx tested. He also had a dental. He would need to meet any resident dogs. If you are serious about adoption, please fill out the adoption application on our website www.phoenixanimalrescue.com His adoption fee is $500.
