Story
Kodak is 5 years old and was adopted originally from Pima Animal Care Center. He was suppose to be a second dog to be a friend to the one I already had but unfortunately he now has to be separated from the other. He is friendly with kids and cats, however he does not get along with other dogs. He is friendly with people however upon meeting he does bark. He is a very sweet boy with a lot of love and joy to give, sadly I am not able to provide for him and my other dog in the way they both need. Kodak loves to go on walks, play fetch, and is very loyal. He loves being with his people. He does have separation anxiety, although given the proper love and care he deserves would help immensely with that. I am looking for someone who has the time, love, and patience for Kodak and does not have any other dogs. In the past he got along with a small female pit who was under my care, but he has a hard time playing gentle. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

Story
Adoptable Puppy: 10 Weeks Old! Meet this sweet, independent girl! Rescued from Pima Animal Control, she is spayed, up to date on all shots (still needs rabies when old enough), and microchipped. She loves cuddles and will tell you when it is time for a nap, often putting herself to bed. She plays well with our 11-month-old puppy and did great with an 11-year-old dog, taking corrections easily. She is a confident, independent pup who enjoys handling herself and will grow into a great dog. She is doing well with potty training and sleeps in her crate at night, only needing one potty break. She loves sunbathing, so a home with a fenced yard or outdoor adventure opportunities would be ideal. She is a sweet girl looking for a family to invest in her training and give her the love she deserves. Contact us to meet her!

Story
The Lowdown on Indy: This 4-legged adventurer is crate-trained (comes with her deluxe impact crate!) and has been through a year of professional training. She’s made HUGE strides, but she’s best as the only pet in the household. She thrives with a confident, consistent human to help her continue her training and keep her the happiest girl in the world. (She comes with a pinch collar, e-collar, and bonus training sessions to help her settle in like the queen she is.) Who She’s Looking For: •A family with teens who will cheer her on as she leaps for that tennis ball.•A stay-at-home or work-from-home human who loves companionship—she’s not about that “being alone” life.•Someone who appreciates a strong personality and isn’t afraid to take the lead.•Bonus points if you need a cat-evictor Perks: You’ll get unconditional love, daily laughs, and a furry companion who thinks your lap is the greatest place on earth. Owner is willing to help with her transition AND continue training.

Story
Velcro is a very sweet chunky guy who originally came to PACC in 2021 from a home with too many pets. In that home Velcro was reportedly good with other dogs of all sizes, was housebroken and crate trained, and was described by his former family as a laid-back kind of guy. Velcro was adopted later that year but has now found himself back at PACC once again. In his most recent home, he did well with kids and with small and large dogs. He was described as affectionate, playful and a true “Velcro dog” who loves to be close to his humans. His name is Velcro for a reason after all! Velcro’s most recent family said that he loves toys, walks well on leash, and likes car rides. In the shelter Velcro has been a sweet and easygoing guy with one volunteer saying:“I love spending time with Velcro. He is a polite and easy walker and lives life in the slow lane, enjoying all the smells as he ambles along. He loves getting pets and gives sweet kisses in return. He’s the best boy.”Velcro has mostly kept to himself when meeting other dogs in playgroup and would like to meet any resident dogs before heading off to his new home to make sure it’s a good fit. If you`re looking for a friendly pup who will stick to you like glue (or you know...Velcro,) ask about Velcro today!

Story
PACC says Buddy was found near airport, but we have no idea where he came from. Jan 23, 2023 pick up date. Buddy has been through a lot in the past few months, but I’m happy to report that he`s doing well now. It’s difficult to determine exactly what breed mix Buddy might be, but Boxer - Pitbull or Boxer - Staffordshire Terrier are both possibilities. The healing nose wound; scars on his neck and ears could indicate a rough past, but it`s also possible that they were from an accident.Since he was so sick and lethargic when we received him, I’m not 100% sure on his attitude – he’s changed a lot since he’s been here. PACC vet did find an old glob of material and hair when they resected his colon. It seems he may have eaten some glass while out on the street. With no previous history, it’s tough to say what he experienced. His surgery was around Feb 10. I think he just finished healing up around April 1.Buddy was house trained when we received him and very well-behaved around guests including a free range toddler, teens, and men and women of various ages. I feel guilty leaving him when I have to go into work, but dogs are resilient and can adapt to being alone for periods of time as long as they have food, water, and a safe space to rest. His teeth were full of gunk so I’ve made a habit of brushing his teeth daily so the odor and cleanliness have improved. He allows me to mess with his teeth, and mouth. I’m happy to report that his fur has substantially improved since we first got him, which I think is a sign of good health. Any diet change has resulted in diarrhea and he vomited a few times when we first got him (likely due to food changes and obstruction in colon.) I slowly got him on a chicken kibble from Costco. WARNING: His farts are silent but violent. He usually eats at 7am and 5pm. He often goes to bed on his own at 8pm and naps alot throughout the day. With snacks at 10 am and 3pm. After his colon surgery I even fed him a little meal at noon. As for his behavior around other dogs, it`s not uncommon for dogs to become more reactive on a leash, especially when they`re around other dogs. I think we need to continue to train him to walk on a loose leash and to stay calm around other dogs. He doesn’t have terrible leash manners and socialization skills, but he’s changed a lot since his colon resection. So I’m not sure WHO the real Buddy Mc. But But is. I’m not sure if he’d be nice to cats since he was persnickety with

Story
Angel is a loving and affectionate Bull Terrier mix (not a Pit Bull) who thrives on attention. She’ll nudge you for head scratches and does her best to stay close, always trying to be by your side. Angel was diagnosed with Valley Fever before she fully grew, and although she was treated with medication, the disease affected her back legs, leaving her with a noticeable limp that the vet says will be permanent. Despite this, she remains a happy, spirited dog.Her Valley Fever is currently in remission, and she is no longer on medication. Angel has a big, bold voice and isn’t shy about using it to communicate. She’s also quite protective of her home and yard, making sure everything feels safe and secure!

Story
Our lovely Phoenix ‍  She has survived so much in her short time alive. She came to Pathways after being dumped the day after Thanksgiving. We could tell she had not had the best past. Despite the multiple scars on her body, her fur feels like velvet and once comfortable, she’s a gentle loving girl‍. Her wonderful foster is giving Phoenix her space to come out of her shell and learn what affection is. Phoenix is still learning that humans are not all bad. She still gets scared when meeting new people, but she is not aggressive. She simply cowers, barks a bit and retreats to her safe space.  Phoenix seems to have been only an outdoor dog. While she is learning the comforts provided inside, she does love her time outdoors. Phoenix will need assistance with leash training to grow her confidence. She gets nervous easily and try’s to get away quickly when she gets scared.  We are hoping to find an empathetic and patient home for Phoenix to continue to grow in. She currently lives with a small foster brother and has done well with kids. She is vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. We believe she is a little over a year old.  Please complete an adoption application at www.pathwaysforpaws.com. If she fits your family and lifestyle, you will be contacted within 48 hours. Story
We are heartbroken to have to find a new home for our beloved pup here in Tucson. Bailey is a 6 year old 75 lb cuddle bug. She is well-trained, walks/hikes easily, and was my running buddy. She has been territorial with the baby; lunging and trying to nip. We’ve done 7 months of private training, and she is extremely well behaved 99.9% of the time. We can’t take the small chance she will bite him. She has been nothing but friendly with kids she has met, but we believe she would do best in a home with older kids due to her size. She’d also be the perfect dog for someone who works long hours and needs a playmate on the evenings and weekend. She is kennel trained. She does need to be an only pet. She is territorial around her food. She currently lives with a cat, but was not friendly to a kitten we tried to bring home and had to return. She is happy cuddling on the couch or floor. Prior to the baby arrival we trained her off the couch and bed.
