Clarence is 72 lbs of pure LOVE.Meet Clarence — a 1-year-old Boxer dreamboat who is ready to be someone’s whole world. He’s great on leash and calm in his kennel or play area. He has some friends he hangs out with here, like Luna. He’s also a day trip favorite who gets a lot of positive attention! But what Clarence really wants? You.He’ll lean his sweet red self against your legs and gaze up into your eyes while you pet him. Volunteers say it best: “he just melts into you.” And trust us… it only takes one walk to fall head over heels. He’s playful, gentle, and has that steady, family-dog energy. Though Clarence is always a gentleman and well mannered, when it’s time to head back to his kennel after a walk, he softly resists. He looks up at you with those big brown eyes that seem to say, “Please don’t put me back. I just want to stay with you.”Clarence is breaking our hearts — but he doesn’t have to. He just needs someone to choose him.Come meet Clarence at our Goleta shelter on Overpass Rd. You`ll see what we all see.

Story
Hi there! My name is Lucas and I'm a male five month old Terrier/Pitbull mix and I'm at the Santa Barbara Campus. Floppy ears, big puppy eyes, and a gentle nature, Lucas is a sensitive boy looking for a home that can open up his world. Transferred in from an overcrowded shelter with his brother, Lucas is still figuring out the wonders of treats, walks, and pets. Many of these things are brand new to him, and Lucas is on the shyer side. Present him with a treat, he crawls along the ground, glancing at you to make sure it's okay before softly taking it out of your hand. Give him a toy, he eagerly sniffs it before leaving it alone with a wanting glance. Here is a puppy that desperately wants to come out of his shell, he just needs the right person to coax it out of him. As is true for most puppies, Lucas is still getting started with basic commands, potty training, and socialization. Lucas would suit home with lots of patience, treats, and that can get him started on his training journey. Luckily Santa Barbara Humane offers Puppy training and Basic Manners classes throughout the year, and adopters receive a discount. All training is done using positive reinforcement (think treats, treats, and more treats!) and goes at your dogs pace. Adoptions are open 12pm-4:30pm every day, except Wednesdays, and no appointment is needed. Like all SBH animals, when I am adopted I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoptions also include a certificate for a complimentary post-adoption veterinary exam from a local clinic and our partners at Hills Science Diet will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home. Need some supplies? Both SB Humane Campuses have retail centers stocked with everything you need, at comparable prices, and your purchase helps support our mission. Hope to see you soon!

Story
HI - I'M RILEY, and I'm looking for a special adopter! ! I'm a 3-year-old Boxer-Shepherd mix in need of a foster or forever home. I was rescued from a California shelter where I was pretty terrified - I sat in the back and looked at people as they walked by. Now, whenever I go someplace new, I'm scared all over again, until I really bond with my person. I have done fine with other dogs so far, but I need someone who can take me in and work with me to help me become confident and secure. I weigh about 50-55 lbs. Please email for an application.

Hi, I’m a cute, affectionate puppy with lots of love and energy to give. I’m still getting used to all the new sights and sounds around me, so I can be a little nervous at first, but with a little time and encouragement, I start to feel right at home. I love giving kisses, soaking up cuddles, and being close to my people. I’ve got that classic puppy energy, and I’m excited to keep learning new things every day, especially with someone by my side to show me the ropes. What I’m really looking for is a family to grow up with, someone who will show me the world, help me build my confidence, and love me through all my puppy stages. I promise to be your loyal, playful companion every step of the way.

Meet Kermit   Kermit is a ~1-year-old Boxer–Bulldog mix with the best combo of playful energy and loving charm. He’s currently located in Oregon, and while his brother already found his forever home, now it’s Kermit’s turn   Kermit does best with slow, proper introductions to other dogs, and once he’s comfortable, he’s happy, goofy, and ready to play. He’s affectionate, fun-loving, and truly thrives on attention, connection, and lots of love.   This sweet boy is still young and learning, and he’d do great with a family committed to continuing his confidence-building and giving him the affection he craves.   Oregon Boxer–Bulldog mix About 1 year old Looking for his forever home   Kermit is ready to be someone’s best friend — all he needs is a chance   #adoptdontshop #boxerbulldogmix #rescuedog #oregondogs #adoptabledog #youngdog #playfulpup #dogfriendlywithintros #foreverhomewanted #rescueismyfavoritebreed #adoptme #dogsofinstagram   ##2535692##

If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online foster application. Hi, I'm Leche, a mostly Boxer, Siberian Husky and German Shepherd with some American Pit Bull and Australian Shepherd. I had a DNA test done if you hadn't guessed. I was rescued from Animal Services and I'll always be grateful to CARL for being given a chance at finding my forever home. I was found as a stray with an injured front leg. I've since had surgery to repair my leg and I'm ready for my forever home. I would do best in a home with older children or adults and in a single dog home. I need lots of physical and mental stimulation. I love car rides, running, walking and most of all snuggling! Story
Meet Socks, an 11-month-old Pit/Heeler mix who’s never met a beach hedidn’t love. He’s all about sandy paws, salty breezes, and chasing waves —though his favorite part is curling up next to his human afterward for along nap.Socks is potty-trained, playful, and totally toy-obsessed. Tug-of-war? He’sthe reigning champ. A squeaky ball? Instant joy. And when the day windsdown, he’s happiest snuggled up in bed, dreaming about his next adventure. He’s great with other dogs and would love a confident canine buddy to helphim feel secure. His low prey drive means he might even be fine with cats.Socks is still shy with new people but getting braver every day with thehelp of patient, kind friends at the shelter. What this sun-soaked soul really needs is an experienced adopter who’llgive him time to trust — and maybe take him to the beach once in a while.Because under that shy exterior is a loyal, loving beach bum just waitingto find his forever wave.

Story
Luna came to us after losing one owner and then being abandoned by another. She was slow to trust — sitting frozen in her kennel for days. But once she opened up, we saw exactly who she`d been hiding: a silly, joyful, zooming, snuggling girl who had just needed someone to wait for her.Luna does the best zoomies. She greets her favorite handlers like they`re the most important person who ever walked through a door. She loves meeting new people, and — something we honestly weren`t sure we`d ever say — she loves meeting new dogs too. When she first came to us, she was undersocialized and reactive, and we weren`t sure she could share space with other dogs at all. Now she`s out in the yard with dog friends every day. We`ve done a complete 180, and we think a canine companion could actually be key to her success in a home. Here`s what we want you to know going in: change is hard for Luna. It was hard when she arrived, and it will probably be hard again when she moves to a new home. She has struggled to settle in foster situations — not because anything is wrong with her, but because her nervous system needs time to catch up with her heart. She`ll need a patient, experienced adopter who can give her space to decompress, maybe a room or corner to call her own, and the grace to let her get there at her own pace. Her excitability is something she`s still working on, and a little training will go a long way. What she needs in return isn`t much. A leash walk — which she`s great on. A chew toy and someone to sit beside — her ideal afternoon. The occasional snuggle. She knows sit and shake, she`s working on crate training, and she has so much love to give once she knows it`s safe to give it.Luna is worth the effort. Anyone who`s watched her come this far already knows that.
