Clarence is 72 lbs of pure LOVE.Meet Clarence — a 1-year-old Boxer dreamboat who is ready to be someone’s whole world. He’s great on leash and calm in his kennel or play area. He has some friends he hangs out with here, like Luna. He’s also a day trip favorite who gets a lot of positive attention! But what Clarence really wants? You.He’ll lean his sweet red self against your legs and gaze up into your eyes while you pet him. Volunteers say it best: “he just melts into you.” And trust us… it only takes one walk to fall head over heels. He’s playful, gentle, and has that steady, family-dog energy. Though Clarence is always a gentleman and well mannered, when it’s time to head back to his kennel after a walk, he softly resists. He looks up at you with those big brown eyes that seem to say, “Please don’t put me back. I just want to stay with you.”Clarence is breaking our hearts — but he doesn’t have to. He just needs someone to choose him.He needs a home with no cats or small animals.Come meet Clarence at our Goleta shelter on Overpass Rd. You`ll see what we all see.

Story
MEET JAZZ, a handsome, loving, 6-year-old black Pit Bull Terrier mix (likely mixed with Boxer) in need of a foster or forever home. He is currently in Northern Minnesota. Jazz has been waiting for awhile and keeps getting overlooked, but he's so deserving of a home! He's friendly & loyal once he has bonded. He can be a bit shy in the beginning, but that wears off quickly. He's playful, smart, protective, brave, curious, athletic, independent and handsome. He will make a good couch potato once he knows he's home. Jazz would do best in an adult-only home with people who really want to give a home to a dog in need. He promises he won't disappoint. He will make a good protector, because of his unwaivering loyalty. He doesn't demand a lot of attention or affection, but he certainly welcomes it. He originally was rescued from a California high-kill shelter in the nick of time. Jazz recently completed some wonderful training in Minnesota and is now doing well with other dogs. His ideal adopter would be an experienced single person or couple who wants a faithful companion. He loves the outdoors and loves to run around, and would be happy to go for walks and hikes with you. He weighs about 55 lbs. If you can foster or adopt Jazz, please email for an application.

Story
MEET RILEY, a 3-1/2-year-old Boxer-Shepherd mix in need of a foster or forever home! Riley was rescued in the nick of time from a crowded California shelter where he was pretty terrified... He sat in the back of the kennel and looked at people as they walked by. Riley is doing so much better, but he still gets scared in new situations, so needs a patient and loving foster or adopter. He has done fine with other dogs so far, and can be tested again. He weighs about 50-55 lbs. He is currently in California but can be transported to Colorado. Please email for an application.

Story
Luna came to us after losing one owner and then being abandoned by another. She was slow to trust — sitting frozen in her kennel for days. But once she opened up, we saw exactly who she`d been hiding: a silly, joyful, zooming, snuggling girl who had just needed someone to wait for her.Luna does the best zoomies. She greets her favorite handlers like they`re the most important person who ever walked through a door. She loves meeting new people, and — something we honestly weren`t sure we`d ever say — she loves meeting new dogs too. When she first came to us, she was undersocialized and reactive, and we weren`t sure she could share space with other dogs at all. Now she`s out in the yard with dog friends every day. We`ve done a complete 180, and we think a canine companion could actually be key to her success in a home. Here`s what we want you to know going in: change is hard for Luna. It was hard when she arrived, and it will probably be hard again when she moves to a new home. She has struggled to settle in foster situations — not because anything is wrong with her, but because her nervous system needs time to catch up with her heart. She`ll need a patient, experienced adopter who can give her space to decompress, maybe a room or corner to call her own, and the grace to let her get there at her own pace. Her excitability is something she`s still working on, and a little training will go a long way. What she needs in return isn`t much. A leash walk — which she`s great on. A chew toy and someone to sit beside — her ideal afternoon. The occasional snuggle. She knows sit and shake, she`s working on crate training, and she has so much love to give once she knows it`s safe to give it.Luna is worth the effort. Anyone who`s watched her come this far already knows that.

Story
Hi! My name is Atlas and I’m at the Santa Barbara Campus. I’m a 5 year 9 month old male Bulldog who is eager for a new home! An atlas is a bound collection of maps, charts or tables. The term originates from the mythological Greek Titan who was forced to carry the heavens on his shoulders. Atlas (the Bulldog) knows a thing or two about this feeling. After being adopted from Santa Barbara Humane in March of 2025, Atlas thought he had finally found his forever home. A warm bed and a loving family to call his own. Unfortunately for Atlas, fate had other plans. Atlas spent much of his time as a backyard dog, getting limited attention from people and turning from a brown and white dog to mostly brown. Fast forward to June 2026 and Atlas is back at SB Humane with his friends, working hard to get back to his former glory. After multiple bath sessions, plenty of treats, and some much needed TLC, Atlas is ready to try again. As staff spends time with Atlas it has become clear that he craves interaction with people. He is the definition of a couch potato and is his happiest self when he is scrunched up close to his favorite people. A lover of soft pets and gentle hands reminding him that maybe people aren't so bad after all. After spending much of his time dreaming of a family and wishing for a place to call his own, Atlas would likely do best as the only dog in the home. Like many Bulldogs, Atlas is currently eating a special urinary diet. He will require this prescription food for rest of his life because his body likes to make certain stones when he eats something different. While an atlas can help you find your way home, this Atlas is hoping you can help him find his. If you think you could take some of the weight off Atlas's shoulders, he's ready to meet you at the Santa Barbara Campus. Adoptions are open 12pm-4:30pm every day, except Wednesdays, and no appointment is needed. Like all SBH animals, when I am adopted I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoptions also include a certificate for a complimentary post-adoption veterinary exam from a local clinic and our partners at Hills Science Diet will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home. Need some supplies? Both SB Humane Campuses have retail centers stocked with everything you need, at comparable prices, and your purchase helps support our mission. Hope to see you soon!
