Questions about Elton and/or our adoption policy should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com; please do not call the rescue's number.***   In early August 2025, SoCo Rescue was contacted by the Wheeler Co., GA Sheriff's Department and asked to assist in the removal of a number of puppies and dogs after their owners had been arrested for animal abuse/neglect charges. Once he arrived at the scene, Scott Bennett met both local and state law enforcement officers who had raided the residence. Among the number of dogs living in horrible conditions, officers from both the sheriff's department and the GA. Dept. of Agriculture removed "approximately 50 chickens" from inside the home. SoCo Rescue was able to assist by taking in five young pups, two older pups and the mom to the younger litter.    Living in a nasty kennel that sat as far away from the home as possible and directly on top of dirt that bore the stench of urine and feces was our "E" litter of pups. Inside the kennel were water bowls that obviously hadn't contained any water in a while. And due to the indifference shown towards the pups by their owner, what little food they were fed was simply dumped onto the ground, meaning the pups were also ingesting the bacteria that had accumulated within the kennel.  While very thin and full of worms of all sorts, the puppies all made a remarkable recovery after getting much needed TLC from the SoCo staff.   Elton's very friendly and playful personality will make him a great addition into just about any home situation. He loves the attention he receives from people and returns it many times over. Giving this fellow a chance in your home will be one of the best decisions you'll ever make.   Elton is neutered & has now received an update on his annual vaccinations, de-wormings and preventative care (flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.) Bear is about 3 years old. He was adopted as a puppy at 12 weeks old from another rescue. He grew up in same home as an inside dog. Then a family member moved in with the family who was afraid of dogs. So bear was owner Surrendered to a kill shelter . Days away from euthanasia we took him in and he was safe. As we always do scared him for a chip and found he had one😔 I contacted the previous owner and wanted to know if he knew Bear was in the shelter. Sad part was he put him there 😩. This boy is the sweetest precious baby ever. He is house trained doggie door trained and even recliner trained. Bear deserves a human and home that won’t fail him again. DARCY is a sweetheart, who likes to take walks and loves to play with her ball. Darcy came to us off the street with pretty much no hair at all but, she is now fit, healthy and ready for a forever home. Darcy is a sweet, gentle girl who has a lot of love to give. Darcy’s new home will need a fenced yard so, she can stretch her legs and exercise a bit to keep up her girlish figure.
