Meet Old Sam! Old Sam is your classic manly man, but underneath that rugged exterior is a sweet, gentle soul looking for love! He can be a little shy with you at first, but once you give him shoulder massages and take your time letting him know you are kind, Old Sam melts into your affection! He rests his head into your palm or leans in for butt scratchies. If you are really lucky, you might get to see his toothy smile which is precious! He truly is a good boy who needs a quiet, loving home with older adults and children where he can really relax, let his guard down and start building some confidence. He would love someone who will fatten him up with yummy treats, which he takes gently but also eagerly! We believe that Old Sam has been an afterthought for most of his life and has never known what it means to be spoiled with a soft bed and humans who really value him. He is good with other dogs, but has shown to be assertive with some male dogs, so a meet and greet with any potential canine siblings will help to ensure a good fit! He occasionally is playful with some dogs, including males, but remains tolerant and social the majority of the time. His foster reported that he has low energy, is friendly and curious, and slept well in a crate overnight. Onyx was adopted from the Humane Society at about 3-6 months old. His age is currently around 5 years old. He is an extremely loving dog, a “Velcro” dog if you will. When he decides you are his person he will never leave your side. He loves to play catch with his ball and could go on for hours playing. Onyx also enjoys laying up against you to cuddle. He does well with cats and older children, he hasn’t been around too many small kids. But based on his loving personality he most likely will be fine. He also loves to play with other smaller dogs. His ideal home would be one that can provide the time and attention he deserves. He needs someone that will love him just as much as he loves others. He’s a goofy character that will talk back in all sorts of entertaining ways.
