12/1 update on Alice: 🌼 Meet Alice who has spent 493 Days Waiting for Her People 🌼Alice doesn’t ask for much, just a family to love. 💛This 2-year-old Boxer/Pittie mix is the definition of a loyal, gentle homebody. She’s quiet, calm, and happiest simply being near her people.🏡 Home Life Queen, Alice:• Amazing with kids! She’s lived with several in foster care and even sleeps in bed with one of them.• Housetrained, knows “sit,” and adores her crate (it’s her cozy safe space).• Total couch potato, but don’t worry, she still has 20 minutes of zoomie joy in her before she’s back to nap mode.• Loves backyard toy-chasing and then snuggling up with whoever is sitting still long enough.🐾 Other Pets & Personality:Alice is a little shy with the outside world and appreciates slow intros with new dogs, but she’s lived with multiple pups beautifully and had several kennel mates at MOAS. She does have a bit of a prey drive (rabbits, squirrels and moles, beware!), but she walks calmly on leash and loves being your shadow at home.💬 Her foster dad said it best: “I was somewhat hesitant about pit bulls because of the kids, but if Alice is what you get, then every family would be lucky to have one.”Alice may not be the fearless social butterfly who loves every new place, but if you want a loyal, loving, quietly devoted best friend who happily greets you at the door when you arrive home and loves and protects your kids like her own?✨ She is your girl. ✨After 493 days, Alice is more than ready for her forever family.Someone out there is about to get very lucky. 💕Alice is in a temporary foster home and will be returned to the Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter soon if she's not adopted. Please help us prevent that for her. She's still working on signaling when she needs to go outside, but if she’s let out regularly, she doesn’t have accidents. She is wonderful with kids. Truly, she just wants to be with them, snuggle close, and soak up all the love they give. At night, she curls right up with our kids in bed. 💕With other dogs, she does well. It took a little time for her and our resident dog to warm up, but there was never aggression—just some initial avoidance. Now they’re getting along great. Her temperament is best described as a calm couch potato with a playful side. She’ll happily chase toys for about 20 minutes, then nap for hours. She greets everyone with a tail wag, is easy to settle down, and is very quiet. She isn’t big on long walks, but she’s polite on a leash and loves backyard playtime. She’s loyal, calm, and a little bit shy at times. She handles loud kids and busy homes really well, knows “sit,” and is eager to keep learning.💎To be honest, we were hesitant about pit bulls before fostering her, mostly because of our kids. But after living with her, we can honestly say: if she is what you get, every family would be lucky to have one.💎😍Meet our Alice the wonder women pup this dog is wondering about what it takes to leave but also hopeful at the chances of getting out of the house she has now to a bigger and better happier place. Reaching 100 days makes her heart start to feel like it’s just not going to happen. Could you be the one to win a super great pet? Please call the shelter at (706) 795-2868 to schedule a meet and greet.Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is a non-profit shelter serving over 720 square miles. We are open intake, meaning we can not turn away animals from either county we serve. Our shelter intakes double or triple it's capacity every month so it is essential we place animals quickly into adoptive homes. Since so many animals enter the shelter we often don't have enough volunteers to write an individual bio for each. Please feel free to call the shelter Wednesday-Sunday to inquire about the animal you are interested in. 706-795-2868.Viewing and adoption hours at our shelter are Wednesday through Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM.
