Monty 18 months old, good boy, takes a bit to warm up. Monty was adopted as a puppy during the shut down from COVID. When things opened up, his adopter surrendered him to animal control - due to no time. Since Monty's formative months he was in quarantine with his adopter and was not socialized well. He just needs a home to help him be the best he can be. Once he knows you he is a great boy with lots of energy to run and play :) We require that you have a fenced in yard, not a "kennel" in the yard AND we do not approve underground fencing. He allows full-body petting and will approach when his handler crouches down, though he may not always be interested in prolonged affection. He seems more comforted by calm presence than by pets, and he takes treats gently. His tail remains low, but not tucked, indicating that he is cautious but managing his environment well. He shows no concerning behaviors.During enrichment, Ruster continues to walk beautifully on leash and enjoys long, quiet walks. In the grassy run, he shows little interest in toys but enjoys chasing his handler in short bursts and exploring the space at his own pace. Ruster is a gentle, nervous dog who needs time, patience, and a calm environment to fully open up. With a supportive adopter, he has the potential to grow into a steady, trusting companion.
