Stella is a silly, and playful boxer. She is crate trained and can sit, lay, and is generally a very good listener. She is extremely loyal, and will protect her family from anything that looks suspicious. She is NOT aggressive at all, but the way she looks can be intimidating to some, and she reacts to them being scared of her, and thinks they want to play. We live in a housing edition that backs up to a main road, so there are people passing by all the time, and if we don’t hold onto her before hooking her up on a chain, she darts out really fast, and “greets” people as they pass by. Our HOA has been extremely difficult to work with when we submitted plans for a fence, so we have to constantly try to hook our 3 dogs up before they run out the back door because we don’t have any other options. I’m heart broken, but I’d rather see Stella adopted into a family that has more time to spend with her, and has a fenced in backyard for her to enjoy the rest of her life.

Red is the quintessential Brown County porch dog — a sweet, easygoing gentleman who knows how to appreciate the simple pleasures in life. This older fellow is happiest when he’s stretched out on a cozy fluffy bed, taking a peaceful nap, or watching the world go by with his favorite people nearby. Red seems like the perfect companion for slow mornings, summer evenings with lemonade on the porch, or relaxing by the fireplace on a chilly winter day. He would be happy resting his head on your knee, soaking up attention, and simply enjoying being together. His previous family shared that Red is completely house-trained, does well being left alone loose in the house, and is a great car rider. He takes treats gently and loves both sides of life — whether that means playing and having fun or simply lounging around while getting pets and treats. Red enjoys leisurely walks where there’s plenty of time to stop and smell the roses (or whatever interesting things he finds along the way!). He’s not looking to rush — he’s more of a “take it all in” kind of guy. We haven’t seen much of Red’s playful side at the shelter yet, but he may just still be settling into his new routine. With his calm nature, loving heart, and years of being a wonderful companion, Red is ready to find someone who appreciates the joy of a slower, sweeter pace of life.
