Story
Shaggy was pulled out of a miserable situation. He lived in a home that was covered in filth. He and the other animals in the home were stuck inside all the time and were given little to eat. Shelter staff had noticed a couple of the animals had been eating their own feces for a "meal". Shaggy very likely grew up in this environment. Because of this, he will need extra training regarding his potty training and eating habits. He currently scarfs down every piece of kibble he is given. While we have not seen any food aggression, this sort of situation can cause it to occur. Feeding him separately in a crate or using a slow feeder is encouraged.🐾 ADOPTION INFORMATION 🐾Thinking about adding a new furry family member? Story
Hello everyone. My name is Kellie and my husband Shane and I are in the process of moving and unfortunately need to find a new home for our dog Charlie. He's super sweet and cuddly and loves people. We adopted him from a shelter in 2023 where he had been brought in as a stray. He was very nervous at first but has really opened up and loves to meet people. He loves to run laps in the back yard and has a lot of energy during the day, but he's also perfectly happy just laying on a blanket by the couch watching TV. He would be a great pet for any home and is looking for someone who can love on him.

Story
Meet Oakley, a handsome brindle Boxer with 65 pounds of classic Boxer charm packed into one very good-looking guy. At five years old, he’s right in that sweet spot where he’s past the puppy stage but still has plenty of life and fun ahead of him.Oakley recently joined us through a shelter transfer, so we’re still getting to know all the little things that make him Oakley. His history with dogs, cats, children, house training, and leash skills is currently unknown, so his future family should be ready to learn alongside him.Oakley is neutered and microchipped, and ready to go home!An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.Cats and kittens are minimum donation $50.00
